Authors of the Impossible

Check out this Impossible Talk.

It’s a series of podcasts hosted by Jeffrey J. Kripal and Scott H. Jones, featuring topics on the paranormal, consciousness and religion.

Kripal is a religious historian and presently chairs the Department of Religious Studies at Rice University.

He’s the author of several books, including The Serpent’s Gift: Gnostic Reflections on the Study of Religion, Esalen: America and the Religion of No Religion, and his most recent, Authors of the Impossible: The Paranormal and the Sacred.

Scott Jones is a writer and filmmaker, currently working with Kripal on a film adaptation of Authors of the Impossible. They discuss their film in the first podcast.

I’ve listened to three of the five so far, and am looking forward to the rest. All have been fascinating.

I especially enjoyed Dean Radin, author of Entangled Minds and The Conscious Universe. Mind-blowing stuff.

If you’re interested in that place where science and the mystic meet, you’ll really enjoy these talks. I hope they record more.

Here’s a short clip from the film. It’s part of an interview with comic book writer Doug Moench where he describes an extremely frightening synchronistic event from his own life.

4 of Disks

Money is probably hard to come by, while time is even more precious. Wherever you look, though, it seems like someone else is asking for more. The tendency here is to gather yourself and your resources and go off alone to think.

Go ahead and do that if you’d like, but try not to get yourself too closed off. You probably have more than you think you do. Maybe even enough to share.

If you’re being asked to spend on something that will help establish an even firmer foundation than you presently have, give it some serious thought. It might be more than you had anticipated, but the pay offs are probably well worth it.

Extravagant or foolish spending is not recommended, but remember the old adage – it takes money to make money. If you don’t put it out there, be it actual money, your physical effort or something else you consider really important, nothing’s coming back.

This is true about your emotions as well, don’t hold them too close to the chest. Be generous with your heart. Remember, you get what you give.
