Justice
A lot of people shy away from the Death card in Tarot, using different labels, or not naming the card at all.
Artist and poet Ricardo Olvera has taken a completely different perspective, and has used death as a main feature throughout his deck.
He’s created The Bone Tarot, an art exhibit made up of twenty-two pieces, each work an assemblage of animal bones and found objects, and based on one of the Major Arcana.
Olvera sees the show as a ‘symbolic mandala’, each piece important on its own, but even more meaningful as part of a grander whole.
He uses the bones to highlight the tension between life and death, and to show that one cannot be without the other.
Olvera’s sculptural deck is not meant for divination, though he says it can be used that way too. He sees it more as an homage, his interest being strictly aesthetic.
But as with divination, appreciating visual art involves looking and interpreting. As one explores a piece, or a card, the process of interpretation itself invokes insight.
The show opens tomorrow and runs through July 30th at Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery in Reno, Nevada at the University of Nevada.
Olvera will give a lecture about his work at the opening reception, Wednesday, July 13th.
If you’re in the area, take a look.

High Priestess dressed as Lovers' Angel
The Moon moves into Gemini today and will stay there until Thursday.
From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Lovers’ Angel. She floats above the naked couple, blessing their sacred union.
The Moon in Gemini, or High Priestess dressed as the Lovers’ angel, can be an emotionally confusing time, one where internal conflicts arise in order to be reconciled.
But it can also be a time of clarity, honest communication and almost intuitive understanding about yourself and those around you.
Quiet faith teams up with commitment and the Angels approve of the whole thing.
Try to keep your emotions in line with your reason. Going too far either way could disturb a really nice balance.

#14 – Temperance
This is a great day to even things out. Balance and temperance are the energies surrounding you now. Can you bring your physical world into harmony with your emotional state?
Temperance is about that perfect mix, neither too much nor too little. It’s about becoming conscious of what you want to be both inside and out, and courageous enough to try.
You are responsible for any healing you might need. The first step is to acknowledge what might be out of balance and then start readjusting.
Sometimes it’s about finding a new way to meld your internal opposites; sometimes it’s about casting out what no longer works. In all cases though, it’s about being true to your self and connecting to the grander universe.
Try asking an angel for some help today. You might be surprised at the result.
