Psychic Lawyer

Following up on yesterday’s Tarot humour, today we move on to psychics and lawyers.

The skit below written by Lauren McGuire asks the question – what might it be like if a lawyer specializing in accident claims was also a psychic…

#17 – The Star

Optimism and rejuvenation are the themes for the day.  Active generosity and compassion come easy so don’t hold back.  Give and you will receive.

Embrace the Universe’s capacity to provide you with what you need when you need it most.  That’s what miracles are and the Star is the goddess of miracles.

If things have been tough lately, now’s a time when you can finally lean back and take a bit of a break.  Surround yourself with as much beauty as you can.  It will help to replenish your soul.

Art, music, and the glory of the night sky are all worthy subjects of meditation.  Let them fill you with the inspiration you need for the next leg of your journey.

Moon in Libra – High Priestess in Justice's Clothing

The High Priestess in Justice's Clothing

High Priestess as Justice

The Moon moved into Libra today, and will stay there until Friday.

Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing Justice’s clothing. She takes on the mantle of the Karmic Decider.

With the High Priestess as Justice, or the Moon in Libra, we might be required to face up to something and decide.

Our emotions will demand respect. If we’ve leaned too far back or forward, we’ll probably find ourselves moving just as dramatically the other way.

It can be a slightly challenging period, perhaps a little manic. But by the time it’s done, something is likely to have been decided upon.

Don’t be alarmed by conflicting emotions. They’re there because you can see both sides. It’s not good enough though to just acknowledge them and walk away.

During this transit you’re being asked to take a stand one way or another. And you’ve got the wisdom and power to do so.

Prince of Cups from Georgie's Tarot

Prince of Cups

We just had this Prince on Sunday, but I welcome him back ….

You’ll probably be feeling quite loving today.  Emotions are open and flowing and you’re getting along with everyone.

People will likely find you even more attractive than usual, and you them.  But don’t confuse that with getting serious.

Emotions may have been high lately, or at least all over the place. You might find yourself thinking a lot about what in life (and love) truly makes you happy.

It’s a good time to think about it. But don’t worry, there’s no need to make any firm commitments right now.  Just look around you and experience what life has to offer.

You’re in the process of building a new emotional maturity. Enjoy and play friendly.

Art in the Hermetic Tradition – Toronto, Jun 14 to Jul 28

Art in the Hermetic Tradition at The Hermit's Lamp - June 14, 2012

Hermeticism and the Hermetic tradition are philosophies deeply engrained in much of western magic and mysticism, including Alchemy, Qabala, Astrology, and my favourite, Tarot.

The tradition is named for Hermes Trismegistus, who’s the credited author of the Hermetica, a series of ancient spiritual texts.

To honour Hermes Trismegistus and his Hermetic legacy, Andrew McGregor and The Hermit’s Lamp is presenting Art in the Hermetic Tradition.

It opens Thursday, June 14th at The Hermit’s Lamp and features art by Xris Kukiel, Claire Weigel, Aaron Cunningham, Elizabeth Owen, Gregg McGivern, Franklin Reeves, and Andrew McGregor himself.

And guess what? I’ll be part of it too!! Ivan Minsloff and I will be debuting our Hermit silk-screen poster print at the show.

I couldn’t be more excited about it!!!

The show will run through July 28th, but if you’re in Toronto June 14th, think about joining us at the opening night reception. I’d love to see you there.

9 of Wands

You may have had a tough go of it this last little while, but you’re hardly ready to give up.  Have confidence in your inner strength and experience.

You have the tools necessary to get you through this situation.  It’s certainly not the first time you’ve faced it so you already know what to expect.

Stand tall and don’t back down from your truth.  You care about what you’re doing and that’s why there’s not much choice but to keep going forward.  If it gets too hard, take a break, but try not to stop.

Remember your power, it’s real and it comes from inside.

A Tarot Light Pole?

May 28th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

I was out last week looking for more pictures to complete my Graffiti Tarot when I came across some amazing light poles outside of St. Mary’s Church.

They had four symbols painted on their base – a cup, cross, anchor, and a hammer with nails. On top was a candle in a circle.

I believe they were part of a Portuguese Corpus Christi festival, a Catholic celebration of the body and blood of Christ.

#21 The World from the Smith Waite Tarot

But through my Tarot eyes I couldn’t help but see the four symbols from the Minor Arcana topped with one for the Majors.

Take a look …

•cups = cups

•cross = wands

•anchor = pentacles

•hammer with nails = swords

•encircled candle = dancing figure in the World card

Moon in Virgo – High Priestess in the Hermit's Clothing

The High Priestess wearing the Hermit's clothing

High Priestess as Hermit

The Moon moves into Virgo today and will be there until Wednesday.

From a Tarot perspective, you might think of this transit as the High Priestess wearing the Hermit’s clothes. She’s putting on her cowl.

The Moon in Virgo, or High Priestess in the Hermit’s clothing, is a time for practical, quiet reflection. Seeking the advice of an expert, and listening carefully to what they have to say could be worthwhile.

Or maybe someone will be asking you for your advice.

Your home is more important now than the outside world. Start thinking how to make it more practical. You might not be ready to do the work just yet, but this is a great time to plan.

Emotionally, it’s a time of calm. Perfect for listening and reflecting rather than acting out in passion. Take your time. There’s no rush.

Study, organization, contemplation, solitude, emotional self-reflection. Don’t be afraid to be alone right now. There’s lot’s to do on your own.

3 of Cups

Celebrate with enthusiasm!  Today is for fun and sharing. Friends are at the forefront, especially the ladies in your life.

Good times, good friends, good drink – it could be a pretty excellent day.  Don’t be afraid to be happy and remember to let people know how much you like them.

Take delight in music, poetry, painting – this is a time of inspiration and creativity.  Social interaction with others will be invigorating and fruitful.

Let yourself get carried away by laughter and joy.  Seek out the beautiful within yourself and those around you.  You won’t be disappointed if you do.
