Tarot in Greek

November 22nd, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Have you ever wondered what the cards in the Major Arcana are called in Greek?

I hadn’t even thought about it before I came across this video by Chris379000.

Using Ciro Marchetti’s Gilded Tarot and Antonella Platano’s Witchy Tarot to demonstrate, Chris translates each card from English to Greek and gives us the odd language lesson along the way.

He does it for all the cards in the Lenormand deck as well. Did you know that the word ‘owl’ sounds like ‘kookoobaya’ in Greek?

Venus in Scorpio – Empress in Death's Clothing

Venus in Scorpio, the Empress in Death's Clothing

Venus Dressed as Death

Venus moves into Scorpio today and will be there until December 16th.

From a Tarot perspective this transit is like the Empress is wearing Death’s clothing. She’s on a horse and heavily armoured.

Venus in Scorpio, or the Empress in Death’s clothing is a time to see the beauty in change. It’s an opportunity to let yourself celebrate what’s passing and nurture what’s about to grow.

Now’s a good time to take a gentle look at the transformations going on in your life and the lives of those around you.

Some changes might touch off sadness, but if you look closer you’ll likely find a golden seed about to emerge. And it’s probably going to make you smile.

There’s something seductive in this combination of deep emotion, beauty and love. It’s mysterious, creative, and meaningful. Take advantage of it while it’s here.

#9 – The Hermit

You might find yourself wanting to spend some time alone today. It’s probably a good idea. Take time to look within and see what’s up inside your soul.

Have things been moving pretty fast lately? Don’t worry, it’s finally going to slow down a bit, giving you a moment to clean house and tie up loose ends.

Trust your own experience through this period. It’s through an examination of your own personal journey that you’ll discover your inner wisdom. You probably know a lot more then you give yourself credit for. But you might need some silence to notice.

Give yourself permission to be quiet. You won’t be missing anything by taking a break. It’ll only make things more fun when you finally re-emerge from your cave.

More Tarot Toys …

November 21st, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Just yesterday I posted about the magical Wishcraft Trio Set and suggested that I might like one for Christmas.

Today, I came across another fantastic Tarot toy I’d be happy to see under my tree.

It’s the The Tarot: A Fortune Jigsaw Puzzle by Buffalo Games Inc. What fun!

It’s a puzzle that becomes a Tarot layout, with a Tarot deck included for your reading pleasure.

I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before, but apparently it’s been around since 2002. I was slow to discover it, but it’s on my list now.

Check out Teresa Michelsen’s review of the Fortune Jigsaw at Tarot Passages to learn more.

Sun in Sagittarius – Sun Dressed in Temperance's Clothing

November 21st, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Sun in Sagittarius, Sun Dressed in Temperance's Clothing

Sun as Temperance

The Sun moves into Sagittarius today and will be there until December 21st.

If we look at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it would be like the Sun is dressed as Temperance. He’s done up like an angel and is playing with water.

The Sun in Sagittarius, or the Sun dressed as Temperance, is a time of energetic harmony and balanced enthusiasm.

Use it to expose any imbalances that might be tilting you off kilter and gently readjust as required.

Have fun with the world around you, and be open to connections beyond the five senses. Preconceived ideas of what’s possible will only hold you back.

We can’t always see divine energy at play. Then the Sun shines just right and a rainbow appears.

Ace of Wands

The flame has been ignited and there’s a new feeling floating around.  This is a day to let inspiration lead the way.

Throw out your old excuses and start something you really care about.  Passion and fire are what motivates the soul and it’s time to listen to yours.

You might not yet know what’s different but you know your old way of doing things is no longer possible.  A new spirit has been planted and you can probably feel the excitement beginning to build.

Whatever it is that moves you with enthusiasm should be your starting point.  Being true to your spirit isn’t being selfish.  It’s what makes you fully human.

Magic in a Box

November 20th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

They’re clearly marketing this Wishcraft Trio Set to young people, but I’m sold!

Tarot cards, a ‘wishing heart’, and a psychic pendulum all in one box!! Who can resist?

I’m afraid the products might not be as magical as the videos suggest, but if I were a kid, they would definitely be on my Christmas list.

In fact, I just might add them anyway.

Moon in Pisces – High Priestess in the Moon's Clothing

November 20th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

High Priestess dressed in the moon's clothing

The Moon moves into Pisces today, and stays there until Friday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon.

She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.

The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.

During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.

Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.

Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

#0 – The Fool

This is a great day to take the leap and do something different.  It might seem crazy and you have no idea how it’s going to turn out, or maybe even how you got on this path in the first place, but here you are.  It’s time to make your move and do so without fear.

The Fool card isn’t telling you to be an idiot, but rather to stop double thinking yourself all the time and worrying that every single thing is in order before you can make a move.

Life isn’t really that logical.  There’s no way to prepare for all eventualities, no matter how smart you are.  Do what you can and let the universe take care of the bigger story.

The Star Card – an art show

November 19th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

#17 The Star from the Smith Waite Tarot

If you’re a Tarot enthusiast in the Los Angeles area with a particular fondness for the Star card, get down to the Anat Ebgi Gallery some time between now and January 26th.

Artist Jen DeNike is presenting her multi-media art show The Star Card, inspired by Tarot’s card #17.

It’s a mix of photography, sculpture, collage and a video of the Star goddess herself acting out the process of renewal and reflection.

If I were in LA, I’d definitely take a look. The Star card, after all, is one of my very favourites. She’s just so sweet.

To learn more about the show, visit the Anat Ebgi website.
