The Moon moved into Taurus and stays there until Tuesday.
If you look at this transit through the eyes of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Hierophant. She’s sitting before two acolytes and sharing the secrets she usually guards.
The Moon in Taurus, or High Priestess in the Hierophant’s clothes, is a time of spiritual and emotional certitude.
There’s a sense that the truth can be explained, understood and incorporated into daily life. Rules can and should be followed.
Instead of trying to force others to recognize what you know to be certain, try using this time to simply share your emotional, intellectual and spiritual perceptions.
Celebrate the diversity of spirit in our world, while figuring out for yourself what rules, spiritual or otherwise, work best for you.

3 of Wands
Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today. You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.
This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far. Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.
Virtue is likely to be a key concept. Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.
Are your emotions in line with your thinking? Are you acting in a way that accurately reflects you’re beliefs and feelings? Explore these questions and relax. Your ship will arrive soon.
June 29th, 2024 § Comments Off on Gay Tarot – a tarot deck review § permalink
In honour of Pride Celebrations this weekend, in Toronto and around the world, today’s deck from Georgie’s Magic Card Collection is Gay Tarot. Gay Tarot was created by Lee Bursten and illustrated by Antonella Platano. The copy I have was published in 2004 by Lo Scarabeo.
5 Points About This Deck
- Gay Tarot: Gay Tarot is definitely a gay Tarot. Its focus is on gay men in particular, with the intention not to exclude women, non-binary folk, and/or non-gay men, but to have a deck that represents gay men in particular. Having said that, there’s nothing in the messages of these cards that can’t be applied to people in general, regardless of sexuality or gender. As with all Tarot decks (at least in the way I read) the gender of the characters in the cards do not necessarily reflect the gender of the person being read for. They’re simply guides to general characteristics.
- Artwork: The artwork in Gay Tarot is well drawn, clear, and mostly realistic. There’s less whimsy and mysticism than many decks have, and more focus on everyday easily relatable situations. The images are of people doing things modern people do, wearing clothes that modern people wear. Of course the deck is 20 years old, so by modern, I mean not medieval a la the RWS-, Marseille-, or Visconti-style images. Every now and then though, elements of an RWS image does sneak in … see the 10 of Swords, 3 of Cups, and 5 of disks … and there are some angels.
- Majors: The Major Arcana in Gay Tarot mostly follows the themes found in traditional Tarot, but as described above, it expresses those themes in a modern context. For instance, the Hermit is in space rather than in a cave on a mountain, and instead of an alchemical angel, Temperance is a chef, combining food elements to create the perfect dish. There are also a few novel takes on the cards. The Devil, #15, for example, is reimagined as Self-Hatred, while #16, the Tower, becomes Revelation. And one I thought especially interesting was #20, traditionally known as Judgement. In Gay Tarot, it’s now the opposite – Beyond Judgement.
- Minors: Gay Tarot’s Minor Arcana is fully illustrated, and as with the Majors, mostly follows the traditional Golden Dawn themes, just putting those themes into modern scenarios.
Court Cards: Instead of the more common Page, Knight, Queen, and King, Gay Tarot offers us Youth, Man. Guide, and Sage.
- Booklet: The LWB (little white book that comes with the deck) for Gay Tarot is not particularly detailed, but it does offer a helpful basic description of what the cards are meant to suggest. I find it useful. And like with other Lo Scarabeo decks, the LWB describes the cards in multiple European languages – Italian, Spanish, English, German, and French. The booklet also includes an interesting Self-Image spread.
Overall, I’d say that Gay Tarot is clever, clear, and uncomplicated in its messages. Whether you’re a gay man or not, it’s a good deck to read with.
And to those who celebrate, Happy Pride!

#8 – Justice
Today’s themes are balance and justice. It might be time to stand up or into your own authority by being strong, sure and most importantly, just. This isn’t the time to play around and think you’ll get away with not doing your share. On the other hand, if you do the work required, the Justice energy is happy to reward you.
Have you been playing fair? It’s not so much about the mundane rules as it is about the bigger universal justice. And it’s not necessarily about ‘work’ per se, but rather the energies that you’ve been putting out there. Are you speaking up for what you believe in? Are you taking responsibility for your own life? Do you help others as you might expect them to help you?
What you send out is what you’re likely to get back. This is karma in action and it’s generally quite profound. On days when the Justice card appears, the karmic force is typically more obvious than usual. Look around and see if you can find it.
Take time to rebalance yourself, and if possible, find some time to get out into nature. It usually puts things into perspective pretty fast. Think carefully about your next move. It’s what you’ve already done that has brought you to where you are now. What you do next will determine what you’ll be reaping in your future. Try to make it something good for everyone.

The Moon moves into Aries today and will stay there until Sunday.
Translating this transit into Tarot cards, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing the Emperor’s clothing. She’s in scarlet and armour and is ready for battle.
The Moon in Aries, or High Priestess in the clothing of the Emperor, is a time of intensified emotions. You might feel an increased desire to shape your own world.
Rather than sitting back in stillness, this transit encourages the loosening of emotional restrictions and the conscious expression of enthusiasm and/or passion.
It might be uncomfortable at first, but allow yourself to speak out loud. Take steps forward to let people know what you know and what you love.
Try to remain objective and open-minded while acting with determination and direction. It might sound impossible, but you can do both if you try.

#12 – The Hanged Man
This isn’t the day for action. It’s time to slow down and take a close look at what’s been going on. And if you can do it from a different perspective – great! Choose a comfortable place to relax and review what you’ve been up to. It might seem like a sacrifice, but it’s well worth it.
Are there patterns in your life that seem to be becoming more obvious than usual? This is a wonderful time to pay attention to how you’re life’s been going these last three months or so. Does it remind you of another time – maybe 12 years ago?
Look carefully at any people, places or things from your past (or that remind you of the past) that might unexpectedly appear. They might be highlighting particular areas in your life you’re repeating. Is it a repetition you’re happy with?
After you’ve done some review, start thinking about where you want to go next. Your old ways are almost over. Think about the new patterns you want to develop – you’ll be ready to start them soon enough. For now, relax, review and let yourself imagine?

Through the years, I’ve painted a lot of wooden boxes meant to hold Tarot cards. They’ve been in all sorts of different colours, sizes, and designs, but never have I ever done one that actually had Tarot images on it … until now!!
Here it is! My first Tarot themed Tarot box! It’s a little rough hewn for sure … and I’m not sure I should be allowed to use so many colours … but I think I like it anyway.
Based on the Rider-Waite-Smith images, I’ve got the High Priestess, Empress, Fool, Magician, Emperor, and Hierophant. The Moon is on the bottom, and inside is The Sun and The Star.
Sorry for the not so great photos, and I can’t seem to format this page correctly, but I think you get the idea.
I wonder what deck wants to live here …

King of Cups
Compassion, emotional strength and mature love are key energies today. The King of Cups understands well the joys and sacrifices involved in relationships of all kinds.
Concern yourself with how others are feeling, what they need for support and how you might help. Through concern for the needs of others you might unexpectedly fulfill your own.
And if you know you’re needing some assistance yourself but have been afraid to ask – get over it. Emotional generosity and support are there if you’re willing to let someone help. But they have to know you need the help before they can offer it.
June 26th, 2024 § Comments Off on Moon in Pisces – High Priestess in the Moon’s Clothing § permalink
The Moon moves into Pisces today and stays there until Friday.
Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon. She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.
The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.
During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.
Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.
Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

#7 – The Chariot
Today you’ll likely see some movement. The Chariot is the card of change, the card that takes you places. Having finally determined the direction you’d like to go, now is the time to get cracking and go there.
Changing jobs, moving house or some sort of travel are the larger manifestations of the Chariot energy. Sometimes though, it might bring no more than a strong desire to redecorate your living room or go for a long drive.
However it plays out, try not to give up if the going gets a little tough. More often then not, just sticking it out and playing for real is all it takes to ensure victory. You’ve come this far already, why would you give up now?
