Page of Swords

It’s a day to dissolve the fog and start looking at things with fresh and honest eyes.  With a commitment to clarity, new ideas and a new sense of authority will be close on the horizon.

Take things in hand and energetically start slicing through any fuzziness you’ve not wanted to look past till now.  Are you happy with what you’re seeing?  If yes – go forward with strength.  If not, figure out what you actually want, re-direct yourself towards it and go forward with strength.

In either case, you need to see things for what they really are before you can intelligently decide what your next step might be.   This is no time to fool yourself.   It’s a time to take charge, be realistic and be strong.

Chris Paradis' Madame Sosostris

Watch this short movie! It’s Chris Paradis’ take on T.S. Eliot’s Madame Sosostris. I love it!

You might remember Paradis as the creator of the Rock & Roll and Circus Tarots. What nice film work he does.

Madame Sosostris stars Angy Champine and Susan Grey.

Prince of Disks

It’s a good time to get to work.  Nothing exciting, just keep moving forward step by step.  It’ll go a lot faster now that you’re seriously on your way.  Enjoy this building process.  You’re making steady progress.  If you keep moving like this, you’ll reach your goals soon.

And if you’re feeling a little dull because all you do is work, work and plan for more work, that’s okay.  That’s what the energy is right now and you might as well go with it.  Creating stability is worth the effort.  There’ll be plenty of time for fun soon enough.

Here’s a pretty hilarious clip from Channel 4’s The Morgana Show, starring Morgana Robinson. She plays Cheryl Cole reading cards for her fellow X Factor judge, Dannii Minogue.

It’s the type of reading you’d rather not have ….

Ace of Wands

The flame has been ignited and there’s a new feeling floating around.  This is a day to let inspiration lead the way.  Throw out your old excuses and start something you really care about.  Passion and fire are what motivates the soul and it’s time to listen to yours.

You might not yet know what’s different but you know your old way of doing things is no longer possible.  A new spirit has been planted and you can probably feel the excitement beginning to build.

Whatever it is that moves you with enthusiasm should be your starting point.  Being true to your spirit isn’t being selfish.  It’s what makes you fully human.

Court Cards at the Disco

December 3rd, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Ok … so here’s an idiotic 48 second video of a pile of Gummy Bear Tarot cards, flashing lights, and people talking in the background. But it reminded me of an excellent Tarot exercise you can do to get to know the Court Cards.

Think about the different Tarot characters out together at a club. For instance, the Queen of Wands and Knight of Disks. What would the Queen be wearing? How about him? Could she be a cougar, would he be interested. What might they say to each other?

Or who do you think the King of Swords would arrive with? Would he dance? And that pack of Pages in the corner, are they old enough to be in here? What card would be the bouncer asking for ID?

The point is to get your characters to interact. Using the traditional meanings of the cards and your imagination, the images start coming alive. It’s easier then when you’re doing a reading and come across one of these characters in a spread.

You’ve already met them at the club and know how they acted there. Now look at the cards surrounding them and consider how they’d act in the situation the cards describe.

Of course you can try this exercise using any background: an office place, a family reunion, a meeting at the UN. The more you play, the more you’ll learn about the cards and how they get along. Go play now!

Physically things will likely be pretty good today.  You’re probably feeling strong and have enough of everything that you really need.  You might even have more than enough and can give some away.  If you do, take advantage of this period to be generous.  You’ve done wonderfully in building your world, see if you can help someone else do the same.

Prosperity and stability are highlighted.   Enjoy the fruits of your labour.  It’s been your steady steps and sometimes less than exciting work that has brought you to where you are.  Congratulations, this is what the work was for.

Tarot and the Magus by Paul Hughes-Barlow

Tarot and the Magus

Take a listen to Paul Hughes-Barlow talking about his book Tarot of the Magus: Opening the Key to Divination, Magick and the Holy Guardian Angel.

The original version has been hard to find for a while now. But the second edition is on it’s way. Signed copies are already available on Hughes-Barlow’s site.

I should have gotten a copy years ago. This time round, I’m definitely getting it.

Here he is again talking about Tarot and Butterflies. There’s more similarities between the two than you might think ….

And by the way, Paul Hughes-Barlow also wrote Beyond the Celtic Cross with the fabulous Catherine Chapman. It explores one real tarot reading, and develops it using Golden Dawn techniques. Another fabulous book!

2 of Wands

This is a day for looking forward.  You’ve got some time and you’re in a good position to look around and see what you want to do next.  The world is literally in your hands and it’s up to you to decide the next move.

What is it that makes you feel most in control of your domain?  What is it that makes you feel you’re really doing what you’re supposed to be doing?

Don’t rush this – it takes some serious consideration.  Use this time to start getting a grip on your destiny.  You’re in charge of this one.  Don’t be afraid to take control.  Your option is to let someone else.
