Soul and Personality Cards

January 9th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

By doing some simple addition, you can figure out which tarot card represents you. The energy carried by that particular tarot archetype is an energy that is dominant in your personality and/or deeper self.

Discovering what card or cards represent you is not unlike knowing your astrological sun sign and ascendant. It gives you a description of some basic traits you are particularly likely to exhibit and an opportunity to see yourself from a different perspective.

Figure Out Your Soul and Personality Cards Now
To determine your soul and personality card, add the day, month and year you were born. Take that total and add all the numbers in a row. If the sum is more than 22, add together the resulting numbers.

If the sum is between 10 and 22,  that number is your personality card.  Add that number together to find your soul card.

Don’t be afraid of the math – it’s really quite simple. Here’s some examples:

Let’s say your birthday is December 12, 1945 –
12 + 12 + 1945 = 1969
1 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 25
2 + 5 = 7
If December 12, 1945 is your birthday – your soul and personality card is 7 – the Chariot.

Let’s say your birthday is April 15, 1931 –
4 +15 + 1931 = 1950
1 + 9 + 5 + 0 = 15 – 15 is your personality card
1 + 5 = 6
If April 15, 1931 is your birthday – 6 is your soul card

If your birthday adds up to 22:
Let’s say your birthday is May 15, 1964 –
 5 + 15 + 1964 = 1984
1+ 9 + 8 + 4 = 22 – 22 or 0 is you personality card
2+2 = 4 – 4 is your soul card

If your birthday adds up to 19:
Let’s say your birthday is July 14, 1969 –
7 + 14 + 1969 = 1990
1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 – 19 is your personality card
1 + 9 = 10 – 10 is your creativity card
1 + 0 = 1 – 1 is your soul card

Wheel of Fortune

Do it now!  That’s right it’s a fantastic day to get going on whatever project (especially a new one) you’ve been thinking about.  Opportunities abound for you to finally move forward with your plan.

Don’t be afraid if you think you can’t do it?  You’ve been spending plenty of time thinking about it.  Look close, you’ll see you have all you need to make it work. The only thing that will slow you down is doing things the same old way.  So stop that – and start fresh now.  You’re ready to go.  Go!

And if you happen to be feeling in the writing or publishing mood – this is an especially fantastic day.  Take the chance and see what you come up with – you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the effort.

Take a look!  It’s the birth of a Tarot card!

Watch as Lisa Hunt paints Jacob Marley for the Chains card in her new Ghosts & Spirits Tarot. Beautiful!

The deck will include ghosts and spirits from legends around the world. Some friendly. Some not. I can’t wait to see it.

Lisa Hunt also created the Fairytale, Fantastical Creatures and Animals Divine Tarots. All gorgeous.

Ace of Cups

Emotional renewal is the name of the game today.  A new way of feeling about something and/or somebody is about to emerge.  Perhaps you’re feeling it already – it’s like that first hint of spring or when a magnolia tree finally blossoms after a long cold winter.

Joy and hope are in the air and accessible to you.  Throw away any gloom you’ve been dragging around and wake up to the inspiration of postive emotions.  There’s a sense that anything can happen and it’s probably going to be good. Be receptive to the love that’s around you and give it back in kind.

Romanian Witches Cursing the Taxman

January 7th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

A couple of days ago, I posted a piece about fortune telling becoming a legally recognized profession in Romania. I ended the post by saying taxation for these services was still in question.

What was actually in question was whether or not Romanian witches would follow up on threats they were making to curse Senators bold enough to tax them.

According to news reports, as taxation moves forward, they intend to act on their threats. Or at least Bratara Buzea, seen in the video below, does.

Not all fortune tellers agree with Buzea. Some, like Mihaela Minca, think the new law is good. “It means that our magic gifts are recognized and I can open my own practice.”

4 of Cups

Today it might seem like you’ve got it all, and yet there’s still something missing.  Emotionally, you’ve got plenty of support.  People around you love you and you love them back.

Despite it all though, there’s a nagging feeling that it’s just not enough.  Perhaps you’re fantasizing about a new love, a new friend, or at a new spark to make what you’ve already got even more special.

Examine these feelings carefully and determine what it is that leaves you slightly unsatisfied.  Are you being reasonable – or a bit of a brat.  Pay attention to what you’ve got and don’t forget to give thanks.

At the same time – if there is something missing, it’s missing and there’s no getting around it.  Meditate on what it is that leaves you wanting more and figure out whether or not it’s something you should pursue.

Remember though, what you wish for might just appear out of thin air – make sure you really want it?

Occult America

Occult America by Mitch Horowitz

Occult America

Though often ignored, the United States has quite a long and profound mystical history. In Occult America: White House Seances, Ouija Circles, Masons and the Secret Mystic History of Our Nation, Mitch Horowitz takes us on a very entertaining tour of that history.

Starting in 1774 with Ann Lee, aka Mother Ann of the Shaking Quakers, he traces the American Occult movement through to the present-day New Age scene. Horowitz examines the influence of groups like the Freemasons, Rosecrucians, and Spiritualists on not only religion in America, but politics as well.

Victoria Woodhull, first American female presidential candidate

Victoria Woodhull

He frequently points to the close connections between the American occult, abolitionists and suffragette movements. Philosophies of equality, democracy and personal strength ran deeply through them all and have been part of American culture from its very inception.

Horowitz details the history of the Burned-Over District and the Psychic Highway. He introduces us to characters like Andrew Jackson Davis, the Poughkeepsie Seer, and Jemima Wilkinson, who was the first American-born woman to found a spiritual order.

Henry Wallace 33rd President of the United States

Henry A Wallace

Joseph Smith, Manley P. Hall, Victoria Woodhull, Henry A. Wallace, and the Ouija board are just a few of the many occult pioneers described in this book. And there are so many more.

Students of American social, religious or political history should take a look. But if you’re in the psychic or occult field, especially if you’re American, Occult America should be on your must-read list.

Not only are you likely to learn a lot, you’ll have a great time doing it.

Prince of Swords

It’s a day of dynamic action.  You know what you want to do, you know what you need to do and you probably know how to do it.  So that’s right – just go ahead and make it happen.  Your mind’s working overtime and at lightning speed.  Flow with this powerful energy and charge towards you goals.

You might find it difficult to focus on just one issue. Two or three different ideas or projects are dragging you every which way.  Don’t worry.   Do what you can and focus on what’s in front of you when it’s in front of you.  Reign your mind in. One thing at a time and it will all get done.

And as always – remember to play nice.

Modern Art Postcard Tarot

January 5th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

For Christmas I got a set of fifty postcards from the Museum of Modern Art. The collection is called Modern Colors, and as might be expected, each card depicts one of fifty modern art masterpieces.

While flipping through the cards, it occurred to me that some would make excellent Tarot cards. Then I wondered if I could come up with 22 Majors from the 50 card set. Amazingly enough, it was pretty easy.

This Modern Art Postcard Tarot was just waiting to be found! I’ve already used it a few times and love it.

For copyright reasons, I can’t post all the pictures, but I’ve linked up to most of them and have posted some that are in the public domain.

#12 – The Hanged Man

This isn’t the day for action.  It’s time to slow down and take a close look at what’s been going on. And if you can do it from a different perspective – great!   Choose a comfortable place to relax and review what you’ve been up to.  It might seem like a sacrifice, but it’s well worth it.

Are there patterns in your life that seem to becoming more obvious than usual? This is a wonderful time to pay attention to how you’re life’s been going these last three months or so.  Does it remind you of another time – maybe 12 years ago?  Look carefully at any people, places or things from your past (or that remind you of the past) that might unexpectedly appear. They might be highlighting particular areas in your life you’re repeating. Is it a repetition you’re happy with?

After you’ve done some review, start thinking about where you want to go next.  Your old ways are almost over.  Think about the new patterns you want to develop – you’ll be ready to start them soon enough.  For now, relax, review and let yourself imagine?
