High Priestess as Hermit
The Moon moves into Virgo today and will be there until Saturday.
From a Tarot perspective, you might think of this transit as the High Priestess wearing the Hermit’s clothes. She’s putting on her cowl.
The Moon in Virgo, or High Priestess in the Hermit’s clothing, is a time for practical, quiet reflection. Seeking the advice of an expert, and listening carefully to what they have to say could be worthwhile.
Or maybe someone will be asking you for your advice.
Your home is more important now than the outside world. Start thinking how to make it more practical. You might not be ready to do the work just yet, but this is a great time to plan.
Emotionally, it’s a time of calm. Perfect for listening and reflecting rather than acting out in passion. Take your time. There’s no rush.
Study, organization, contemplation, solitude, emotional self-reflection. Don’t be afraid to be alone right now. There’s lot’s to do on your own.

King of Disks
Physically things will likely be pretty good today. You’re probably feeling strong and have enough of everything that you really need. You might even have more than enough and can give some away.
If you do, take advantage of this period to be generous. You’ve done wonderfully in building your world, see if you can help someone else do the same.
Prosperity and stability are highlighted. Enjoy the fruits of your labour. It’s been your steady steps and sometimes less than exciting work that has brought you to where you are. Congratulations, this is what the work was for.

Varitan's Illustrated Greek Myths
This book looks great.
Varitan’s Illustrated Greek Myths brings the ancient gods and goddesses to life, telling their stories in a post-modern voice.
Each chapter is a different classic tale accompanied by the magical illustrations of Argentinean illustrator, Federico Ulises Parolo.
Editor and publisher Jorian Polis Schutz’s narrative makes it easy to see how these old stories are very much alive in our present-day world.
Like Tarot cards, the Greek myths touch on all the big themes of the human experience. Our costumes may change, but we keep living out these stories again and again.
You can download the tales of Phaethon and Medusa for a little taste of the fun.
And needless to say, the illustrations in the book would make fantastic Tarot cards.

Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today. You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.
This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far. Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.
Virtue is likely to be a key concept. Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.
Are your emotions in line with your thinking? Are you acting in a way that accurately reflects you’re beliefs and feelings? Explore these questions and relax. Your ship will arrive soon.

I’ve been on a bit of a book binge, and thought I’d share with you three of my most recent favorites.
None of them are about Tarot, but all of them get me to thinking about it.

Synchronicity
The first is Synchronicity: Through the Eyes of Science, Myth, and the Trickster, by Allan Combs and Mark Holland. I just loved this book.
It was first published back in the late 90’s, but it’s as interesting now as it would have been then. As you might expect, Carl Jung’s concept of synchronicity is thoroughly explained.
That in itself would make it a worthy read for any Tarot worker. But one of the things I especially like about this book, is that the authors have connected synchronicity to the archetype of the Trickster.
They describe him most often as Hermes, but he reminds me an awful lot of a combination between the Tarot’s Fool and Magician.
Like Tarot readings, not only do synchronistic events seem to happen at the border between the conscious and unconscious worlds, Hermes, or the Fool/Magician, is our guide through these experiences.
Though the authors don’t focus on Tarot symbolism, they have included an appendix specifically discussing PSI and synchronicity.

Biocentrism
Another recent favorite of mine is Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness are the Keys to Understanding the True Nature of the Universe by Robert Lanza MD, with Bob Berman, published in 2009.
The book maintains that consciousness is a key component to life in the universe. And according to Lanza, without it, there would be no universe.
It’s a fascinating book for so many reasons. But from a Tarot reader’s perspective, I was particularly interested in the chapters on the very flexible nature of time and space.
Heavy, mind spinning stuff, but a surprisingly entertaining read.

The Three Dangerous Magi
And finally, I’ve been enjoying The Three Dangerous Magi: Osho, Gurdjieff, Crowley. It was written by P.T. Mistlberger and published late last year.
Mistlberger’s perspective on these three 20th century masters is sympathetic, yet not overly romantic.
He sees them all as humans, but humans who made enormous contributions to spiritual understanding, and perhaps even awakening, in the West.
He examines their philosophies, their following, their personal lives and their legacies. And describes it all in the voice of someone who’s been there as both a teacher, and a disciple.
These three books might not have a lot in common, but they’ve all been getting me thinking. Maybe you’d like them too.

Enrique Enriquez
Enrique Enriquez: Tarology, Exploring the Poetics of the Marseilles Tarot is a documentary in progress by Chris Deleo.
I wrote about it last month, but they’ve released another film clip (scroll down) so I’m writing about it again.
The film focuses on Enrique Enriquez, a New York based poet and tarot reader.
He reads the cards as if they were a book of poetry. In fact, it seems that he reads all of life that way.
As he puts it, ‘Working with the tarot is always about adding poetry to reality or derailing life through poetry.’
It’s hard not to get excited about tarot when Enrique’s describing it. The cards come alive when he looks at them.
This is the first documentary of its kind, and the first full-length film about tarot attempting to get a theatrical release.
In addition to the work being documented with Enrique, the film will also explore other reading styles by introducing viewers to experts throughout the tarot community.
The filmmakers are still looking for investors. Why not be part of tarot history and donate today!
For as little as $10 you’ll get a special thanks in the credits, while for just $500, you can have a personal tarot class with Enrique himself.
There’s lots of goodies available for people who want to help support this project, so go on over to their site and see.
Enrique is going to be joining us on Beyond Worlds Saturday, May 7th. We’ll definitely be talking with him about the film.
And in case you missed his visit last July, you can listen here — Beyond Worlds with Enrique Enriquez

High Priestess as Strength
The Moon moves into Leo today and stays there until Thursday.
Translated into Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is wearing Strength’s clothing. She’s thrown off her heavy cape and is spending some time outside with her lion.
The Moon in Leo, or High Priestess in Strength’s clothing is potentially a time of emotional power. Something beautiful that’s usually under wraps can finally be revealed.
The silence is broken. Quiet wisdom and passion can be united. During this time, it might be difficult to keep your ideas to yourself. But why should you?
Try finding an outlet for plans you’ve been sitting on? This is an opportunity to shine if you’re not over-burdened by self-consciousness.
It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but letting your wilder side out right now could be positive. The sun isn’t always shining. Take advantage of it when it does.

Gather and celebrate! It’s a day to enjoy what you’ve been working on. The project might not yet be finished, but at least you’re on your way. Well done! You have reason to smile.
Follow your passion and create from the heart. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how it will all turn out, just keep at it. The hard work’s been paying off, and you can take a moment to enjoy before heading on to the next step.
But don’t forget, you probably aren’t doing all the work yourself. Share the glory or you’ll be hearing about it later.

Alfred Russel Wallace
There’s an interesting online display from the Whipple Library at Cambridge University. Adventures in the unknown: mesmerism, spiritualism and the supernatural.
The general public wasn’t alone in their fascination with Spiritualism and occult phenomena in the mid-19th century through the beginning of the 20th.
During the ‘Age of Science’, many scientists were too.
This Whipple special collection includes books describing everything from ancient astrology to new age magic and ghost hunting.
Authors like Henry Sidgwick, Sir David Brewster, James Braid, and the other discoverer of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace, are all represented.
And there’s a book by Raphael called, A Manual of Astrology or the Book of the Stars: being the art of foretelling future events, by the influences of heavenly bodies in a manner unattempted by any former author and divested of the superstitions of the Dark Ages.
Quite a title, I’d like to read it. And I love the picture inside of Mercury delivering King’s George IV’s horoscope.
