Take a listen to Jason Silva talk really fast about what it means to be a ‘receiver’.
It’s the feeling of inspiration he’s describing, artistic or otherwise. Certainly it’s part of the psychic experience when you suddenly feel connected.
Spiritual questions and tradition are highlighted during this period. It’s probably important to you now to look carefully at the spiritual structures in your life. Why do you believe what you do? Who are your spiritual authorities and what gives them their legitimacy? Who decides issues of morality for you, your family and/or your community?
Many of these questions are answered with cultural traditions. Today, you’ll probably be examining whether or not the answers you’re accustomed to are still satisfactory. They might be or they might not be. Don’t be afraid to seek out your truth simply because it rubs against your comfort zone. Sometimes growth hurts a bit.
You might be asked to judge someone else’s dispute, or find the need to go to an authority for answers yourself. Keep your mind open, but your skepticism on. Ultimately, you’re the only one who can decide whether something makes sense for your life or not.
Tarot readings and dreams are a lot alike. Both get down into the unconscious, look around, and drag up some pictures for our conscious selves to look at.
Learning to read the cards takes some time and practice, but dreaming is something we all do quite naturally, typically five times a night.
Even with all that dreaming though, we usually don’t remember much. Apparently most of us forget 95% of all the dreams we have. But who knows, maybe that’s a good thing.
It isn’t at all clear why we dream, or what our bodies and/or psyches are actually doing with all that material.
We could be processing the experiences of our daily life, rehearsing potential scenarios, acting out fantasies, or maybe something more mysterious is going on, at least some of the time.
For a quick summary of what science is saying about dreams and dreaming, take a look at the video below by vsauce.
In it he mentions another video about how to lucid dream by Howcast. I’ve posted that one below as well, and will be trying out some of the techniques myself.
Clear rational thinking is at the fore today. Is there something you need to take control of? Have you been wavering and wishy-washy lately? Stop procrastinating.
Focus, take charge and get it done. Have the courage to be clear and rational. Cut through the fog and let logic rule the day.
You know who you are, you know what you want and you’re sure you deserve it. Go to it. But beware of dictating what’s best for those around you.
You might know how to take care of yourself, but let others take care of their own lives, their own way.
Apparently he’s working on a new book, and I look forward to reading it. In fact, if it’s got anything to do with the occult, I’ll probably be posting about it.
But what I’m writing about today is Horowitz’s Occult New York Walking Tours. Who knew there was so much occult history smack dab in the middle of the Big Apple?
On the tour, Horowitz guides the curious through New York City’s Flatiron district, Murray Hill, the Grand Central neighborhood, Midtown and the West Side.
These areas don’t seem so inspired today, but at the end of the 19th Century, they were hotbeds of spiritualist activity, and there’s traces of that past all over.
Take a look at the video below to see some of the sites on the tour and hear Horowitz talk about why they were important.
I don’t know when the next tour will be, but I hope there’ll be one when I’m next in New York.
You feel full up with all the love around you. In fact, you might even be a little overwhelmed with how much you care and how loved you feel.
This is a happy time to be with your family or friends or whoever it is that makes up your social community.
You’re probably nearing the end of an important emotional phase. Taking the time now to recognize and be grateful for all you have will help prepare you for the beginning of the next stage of your journey.
Celebrate with your loved ones, remembering with joy and humour all the good and not so good days that brought you to where you are now.
The 8 of Swords is a card of limitations, restrictions, and mental bondage.
The traditional Rider Waite Smith image is of a woman blindfolded and bound, standing among eight swords in a mucky gray landscape.
I’ve often seen the swords surrounding the woman as representative of the 3 of Swords on her right, and the 5 of Swords on her left.
It’s like past sorrows and fears of defeat are holding her back, keeping her from seeing that the ties that bind are loose. She could shake them off with a few good jiggles.
And look how her dress matches the tops of the castle. She belongs up there, not down in the mud.
It’s her own ideas that are holding her back, making her feel like she has nowhere to go. And the wet ground only makes things worse, adding an emotional swampiness to the whole affair.
When this card appears, it often points to an opportunity to break free of limited thinking.
It’s a chance to confront your sadnesses and fears, and stop letting what’s past prevent you from going forward.
The metal band Huntress from LA, just released their new video called 8 of Swords, with lead singer Jill Janus playing the part of the woman bound.
It starts with a spooky Tarot reading and ends with self-illumination. And in true metal fashion, there’s occult imagery throughout.
The music might be a little heavy for some tastes, but the band definitely captures the energy of the card.
The moon moves into Scorpio today and stays there until Wednesday.
If you translate this transit into the Tarot, you could say that the High Priestess is dressed as Death. She’s in the midst of a great transformation.
The Moon in Scorpio, or High Priestess in Death’s clothing, suggests a time when feelings run deep. The ability to end relationships that don’t work, or release stagnant emotions is accentuated.
If there’s a situation in your life that’s nearing its completion, especially if it’s emotional or relationship-oriented, this might be a good time to let it go. At least explore it with emotional clarity.
This isn’t a time to be afraid, but rather a time to face your fears with equanimity and intelligence.
You’ve got what it takes. Don’t back down from the scary stuff.
What a wonderful day. You feel open and loving and willing to let the world know – at least if they ask. You might not feel like running out and embracing everyone you see, but there’s a sense of contentment and well-being that’s impossible to ignore.
This is an excellent time to enjoy and share. Be generous with your feelings. There’s really nothing to fear in letting people know you care.
Give as you can and laugh out loud as much as possible, even when you’re alone. It may have been some time since you’ve felt this good. Enjoy. You deserve it.
