Moon in Aquarius – High Priestess in the Star's Clothing

High Priestess in Star's Clothing

High Priestess in Star's Clothing

The Moon moves into Aquarius today and stays there until Wednesday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Star. In other words, her robes are gone and she’s naked as the bird in the tree behind her.

The Moon in Aquarius, or High Priestess in the Star’s clothing, can sometimes be emotionally stressful. Hope may be in the air, but it’s a cautious hope.

Emotionally you feel like sharing, bubbling over with dreams for the future. But your mind keeps getting in the way, reminding you that dreams can sometimes be nightmares.

Try not to spend what could be a nice time double guessing yourself or listing off all the reasons things could go wrong. They might. But they probably won’t.

Be real, but not a wet blanket. Rather than smothering your dreams, direct them with intelligence.

Prince of Disks

It’s a good time to get to work.  Nothing exciting, just keep moving forward step by step.  It’ll go a lot faster now that you’re seriously on your way.

Enjoy this building process.  You’re making steady progress.  If you keep moving like this, you’ll reach your goals soon.

And if you’re feeling a little dull because all you do is work, work and plan for more work, that’s okay.  That’s what the energy is right now and you might as well go with it.

Creating stability is worth the effort.  There’ll be plenty of time for fun soon enough.

The Cat's Eye Tarot by Dr. Debra Givin

Cat's Eye Tarot

Tonight on Beyond Worlds, we’ll be visiting with Dr. Debra Givin, creator of the Cat’s Eye Tarot.

Not only is Givin the designer of a charming new deck for cats and their humans, she’s actually a cat doctor. A vetrinarian since 1982, she’s been working specifically with felines since 1988.

Her current interests include behavior and individual feline temperament types, environmental enrichment, and prevention of obesity.

She’s also interested in restoring cats to the god-like status they held in ancient Egypt.

Which brings us back to the Cat’s Eye Tarot – definitely a deck for cat lovers. With virtually no human intrusion, cats are featured in every card. And they’re adorable.

Givin’s understanding of feline behaviour is evident throughout. Though the deck follows the general themes in the Rider Waite Smith Tarot, it tells the story from a cat’s point of view.

My cat Carl approves, and will probably be listening to the show.

Join him, and us live in the chat room, or call in at (646) 200-0765.

Queen of Cups

It’s sort of odd given that this just happened two days ago with the Six of Swords, but the Queen of Cups showed up again as the card of the day! She’s obviously got something to tell us ….

The energy today is full of nurturance and love.  Let yourself give and receive.  Share your feelings, your dreams and what it is that makes you human.  Let your imagination run away with you (while holding on to reality if you can).

The Queen of Cups loves romance and laughter and beauty in all its forms.  Take a leap into your emotional depths.  Don’t be afraid, you won’t stay under too long.  This Queen understands emotional limits – how to push them and how to pull them back gently without hurting anyone’s feelings.

Today would be a great day to enjoy the company of loved ones. Or call or write them – one way or another, be sure they know you care.

Occult NYC Part 2

Here’s more occult fun with Mitch Horowitz, author of Occult America, and tour guide of New York City’s mystical history.

I posted Occult NYC part 1 back in October. Take a look below at part 2 of the Midnight Archive series.

In it Horowitz talks about the former home of Madame Blavatsky’s Theosophical Society, Grand Central Station, and the architecture of Fred F. French.

There’s magic all over the streets of New York City. It’s easy to see, you just have to know where to look.

Sun in Aquarius – the Sun Dressed as the Star

Sun in Aquarius, the Sun Dressed as The Star

the Sun as the Star

The Sun moves into Aquarius today and will be there until February 19th.

Looking at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it would be like the Sun child is dressed as the Star. He’s as naked as he ever was, but now he’s a lady, and up past dark.

The Sun is exuberant and full of life. He’s child-like but not childish. He’s been through it all and has well earned the victory he enjoys.

Open and free, he has no boundaries but for those he makes himself. And he has nothing to hide, no shame, no secrets. The Sun exposes it all.

The Sun is exactly what he seems to be, simple and clear, and enthusiastic about every new day.

The Star is made of the same stuff as the Sun, but she’s much more quiet, and more nurturing than joyous.

She too is open and unashamed to bare her truth. Her focus though is on healing, rejuvenation, and bringing hope into the dark night.

The Star is grounded and balanced, but very attuned to how emotions play. And she knows exactly what’s needed to bring peace to any troubled soul.

The Sun is comfortable in the role of the Star. Though he has to tone it down a bit, he loves shining at night.

The Sun in Aquarius, or the Sun dressed as the Star, is a time of active grace, perfect for healing and emotional renewal.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to dream, and to allow yourself a ray of optimism, especially if the going’s been a little rough lately.

Trust yourself, and the universe. It’s not out to get you. In fact, it wants to help.

Find your flow and don’t be afraid of letting your feelings spill out. You might have needed to for a while now.

And if there was ever a time to wish upon a star, this is it. She’s listening.

Moon in Capricorn – High Priestess in the Devil's Clothing

The High Priestess dressed as the Devil

High Priestess as the Devil

The Moon moves into Capricorn today and will stay there until Monday.

If you were to describe this transit using the Tarot, you might say that the High Priestess is wearing the Devil’s clothing. The virginal goddess has gotten downright beastly.

The Moon in Capricorn, or High Priestess in the Devil’s clothing, is a period of potential internal conflict. The physical world might seem to draw you away from what you typically believe to be right.

You might feel driven or compelled by behaviours and attitudes that go against the grain of your morality. It could be liberating or disturbing, depending on your secrets.

Whatever’s going on though, don’t be too hard on yourself. Get obsessions out of your system, and learn what you can about yourself while you do so.

You should be ready to move on soon. There’s nothing wrong with a little focused physicality. Just don’t get stuck.

6 of Swords

6 of Swords

It’s not a mistake! We have the same card today as we did yesterday. There’s gotta be a message here somewhere ….

This is a good day to get your thoughts as clear as possible.  You’ve got some emotional issues that require honest focused attention.  To move forward with your commitment to self, it’s really important that you get your thoughts straight.

What choices are you being asked to make at this time?  Look them squarely in the face and choose.  If you can’t choose now, when do you think you can?  At least decide that.  Ask yourself what will bring you closer to your own truth – a union of mind, body and soul.

You’re sharp as a tack today.  Take advantage of the energy to decide what needs deciding.  You can do it.  How will you get to your next step if you don’t?

Art of Tarot – 2

January 19th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Toronto Tarot Lovers and Artists – it’s a call for submissions!

After the success of their first show, Andrew McGregor and the Hermit’s Lamp are doing it again with a second installment of the Art of Tarot.

Right now, they’re looking for original art about or inspired by the Tarot. Let your imagination run wild and send something in.

You can see some of the work from last year’s show at the Hermit’s Lamp website. It’s pretty great.

But this year it might be even better. I’m really looking forward to it.

The show itself will open on Saturday, March 10th. Submissions must be in by Tuesday, January 31st.

I wonder what I could submit.
