Moon in Capricorn – High Priestess in the Devil's Clothing

The High Priestess dressed as the Devil

High Priestess as the Devil

The Moon moves into Capricorn today and will stay there until Sunday.

If you were to describe this transit using the Tarot, you might say that the High Priestess is wearing the Devil’s clothing. The virginal goddess has gotten downright beastly.

The Moon in Capricorn, or High Priestess in the Devil’s clothing, is a period of potential internal conflict. The physical world might seem to draw you away from what you typically believe to be right.

You might feel driven or compelled by behaviours and attitudes that go against the grain of your morality. It could be liberating or disturbing, depending on your secrets.

Whatever’s going on though, don’t be too hard on yourself. Get obsessions out of your system, and learn what you can about yourself while you do so.

You should be ready to move on soon. There’s nothing wrong with a little focused physicality. Just don’t get stuck.

#17 – The Star

We just had this card on Wednesday, but I’m happy to have her back ….

Optimism and rejuvenation are the themes for the day.  Active generosity and compassion come easy so don’t hold back.  Give and you will receive.

Embrace the Universe’s capacity to provide you with what you need when you need it most.  That’s what miracles are and the Star is the goddess of miracles.

If things have been tough lately, now’s a time when you can finally lean back and take a bit of a break.  Surround yourself with as much beauty as you can.  It will help to replenish your soul.

Art, music, and the glory of the night sky are all worthy subjects of meditation.  Let them fill you with the inspiration you need for the next leg of your journey.

Electronic Ink Could Make Some Really Great Tarot Cards

February 16th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Imagine the Tarot deck you could create with this electronic ink developed at the MIT Media Lab and UIUC.

You could actually make the Sun shine bright, and hear the crash of the Tower, or maybe if your cards fall right, the angelic harmonies of Temperance.

The Moon could glow, and the bird in the Star card could sing. The possibilities are endless.

I’d love to get a pen like that.

7 of Cups

Are you having a hard time making a decision, maybe trouble moving forward?  Are you blaming yourself and everybody else for your emotional problems?

It might be a little confusing right now but don’t give up.  Try to pull yourself together and start making some choices.

Don’t waste your time worrying about what anyone else is doing.  Concentrate instead on getting a grip on yourself.

What do you really want next?  Think about it clearly and with as much focus as you can muster.  Once you finally choose, it’s going to be a lot easier.

Wallowing in misery or hiding in whatever escape you feel most comfortable in won’t help for much longer.  In fact, it’s likely to bring you down instead.

Pull up those boot straps and decide what’s next. The only real way to feel better is to start taking action.  There’s lot’s to do, get going!

The Darkana Tarot Deck

February 15th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s a Kickstarter Project I jumped to support … the Darkana Tarot Deck by Dan Donche.

Donche is the creator of the Inappropriate Tarot Readings page on Facebook, and he’s hysterical.

He’s not only inappropriate, but irreverent, bold, and sometimes outright blasphemous in his interpretation of the cards.

Though relatively new to Tarot, he caught on fast and his insights are both entertaining and often profound. And his new deck looks amazing.

His artwork is beautiful, modern and alive. Go to his Kickstarter page or Facebook to see some of the cards.

Donche’s intent with this deck is to break beyond conventional representations of the Rider Waite Smith Tarot in order to challenge and inspire.

I think he’s going to succeed, and I really look forward to getting my copy of the deck. You can get one too if you donate to the project.

He’s already raised the money he was looking for, but with more support, he can make more decks. The campaign runs until March 9th.

Moon in Sagittarius – High Priestess in Temperance's Clothing

The High Priestess dressed in Temperance's Clothing

High Priestess as Temperance

The Moon moves into Sagittarius today and will be there until Friday.

Looking at it through the eyes of the Tarot, you can describe this transit as being like the High Priestess wearing Temperance’s clothing. She’s dressed like an angel.

The Moon in Sagittarius, or High Priestess in Temperance’s clothing, indicates a time when intellect, practicality, emotions and passion can work together in relative ease.

What’s normally only an idea might find its way to becoming real. Even-tempered inspiration and emotional playfulness can create what look like miracles.

Take this time to bring your emotions in line with your passions. And play with your most serious ideas. It’s in combining the unexpected that you’ll likely find gold.

Mercury in Pisces – Magician in the Moon's Clothing

Mercury in Pisces, the Magician Dressed in the Moon's Clothing

Magician as the Moon

Mercury moves into Pisces today and will stay there until March 2nd.

From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the Magician is wearing the Moon’s clothing. He’s all but disappeared except for his face.

The Magician is a man of action. He’s fast, agile, and moves easily from one place to the next.

Like quicksilver, he can morph at will, becoming almost anything he determines himself to be. It’s all about focus and intent with him.

And the Magician can convince us of anything too, so it’s best to keep sharp when he’s around. He’s just as charming, whether he’s being good or bad.

The Moon is more mysterious, less about words then feelings, and much much darker.

A deep femininity is at play here, emotionally rich, psychically attuned, and reflective of the world around it.

The Moon can make the most familiar landscapes seem strange, and fill the unknown with both fascination and fear.

This isn’t the most comfortable position for the Magician to be, he’s not used to being so quiet. But he’s always up for a little mystery, and the Moon offers plenty of that.

Mercury in Pisces, or the Magician in the Moon’s clothing is a time when it’s possible for the unexplainable to be explained, or at least demonstrated more consciously than usual.

Use this time to connect with your unconscious, or those areas in your life you keep most hidden from even yourself. Then journal about it, blog, or talk with people you trust.

Dreams are likely to be a rich source of inspiration, and psychic communication enhanced.

Be wary though of silver-tongued story-tellers trying to convince you to buy something in the dark. It’s best to wait till day, and to look over the goods in the light.

9 of Wands

You may have had a tough go of it this last little while, but you’re hardly ready to give up.  Have confidence in your inner strength and experience.

You have the tools necessary to get you through this situation.  It’s certainly not the first time you’ve faced it so you already know what to expect.

Stand tall and don’t back down from your truth.  You care about what you’re doing and that’s why there’s not much choice but to keep going forward.  If it gets too hard, take a break, but try not to stop.

Remember your power, it’s real and it comes from inside.

Happy Valentine's Day!

February 13th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Six of Cups from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

I asked my deck for a card that represents Valentine’s Day, and the card I got was the 6 of Cups.

How perfect!! It might not be all lovey-dovey like the 2 of Cups, or talking about romantic commitment like the Lovers might, but it’s as full of sweetness as either of them.

The 6 of Cups is a card about friendship, gratitude, and the joy of sharing with those who mean the most to you.

It reflects emotional loyalty, as well as a happy sense of nostalgia. As long as you don’t let yourself wallow in the past, this is a truly happy card.

And I think it’s a great one for Valentine’s Day. Not everyone is romantically involved, but everyone feels love – and hopefully wants to share it.

So let the 6 of Cups fill your heart with joy and good-will to all, and though it’s still not till tomorrow, I wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
