#4 – The Emperor

You can expect a day of fiery energy and powerful determination.  In whatever you do today, you’re encouraged to do it with strength and creativity – in fact it would be hard not to.  Within your domain you’re the one in charge, so manifest your will.

What have you been wanting to create in your world?  Start making it really happen!

While you’re encouraged to take your power and run with it, there is a challenge associated with the Emperor.  Remember – not everyone might want to do things your way.  Everyone thinks they’re right.

Sometimes you have to give a little.  If you don’t, don’t be surprised if other people start rearing their own Emperor energy and you’re smack dab in the middle of a fight.

Masculine energy is strongly indicated with the Emperor card and issues surrounding males, especially those in authority are likely during this time.  Stay strong and true and you won’t go wrong.

The Gilded Tarot Royale

February 8th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Ciro Marchetti is a legend in the Tarot world. He’s the creator of many beautiful decks including the Legacy of the Divine, the Oracle of Visions, and the Tarot of Dreams.

But his first deck, the Gilded Tarot, is still an all time favourite, and within the Tarot world, it’s a smash hit sensation.

It’s sold over 250,000 copies worldwide, with translations available in Czech, Russian, Slovenian, Greek, German, Hungarian, Polish, Spanish, French, and Chinese.

But Marchetti’s still not completely satisfied. He’s thrilled with the incredible reception his deck has received, but he wants the deck itself to be even better.

Since he made the Gilded, the technology he used has developed way beyond what it was, and he himself has learnt a lot more about Tarot through the years.

So he’s gone ahead and redone it, making it bigger, and more detailed, and with actual gilding on the sides of the cards.

It’ll be self-published, and available only through Marchetti’s website. And it’s got a new name – the Gilded Tarot Royale.

Take a look at the video below to see images from the new cards. And go to his site to look at comparisons between the original version and the new one.

The old ones were nice, but the new ones are gorgeous.

Ciro was a guest on Beyond Worlds just last Sunday, and he talked about his new deck. Take a listen here …

Venus in Aries – Empress in the Emperor's Clothing

The Empress in the Emperor's Clothing

Empress dressed as the Emperor

Venus moves into Aries today and will stay there until March 5th.

If we look at this transit through the eyes of the tarot, it would be like the Empress is wearing the Emperor’s clothing. She’s ditched the mumu and is dressed for action.

Venus in Aries, or the Empress in the Emperor’s clothing can be an active time of creation. The air is almost bursting with possibilities.

Instead of sitting back and enjoying, you might feel like getting out there and making joy happen.

Nurture with passion and actively love. Defend and build the world you want to live in.

Beauty is everywhere. Don’t be afraid to revel in it.

There’s time enough to be a pretty wallflower. For now at least, be a blazing rose instead.

Moon in Virgo – High Priestess in the Hermit's Clothing

The High Priestess wearing the Hermit's clothing

High Priestess as Hermit

The Moon moves into Virgo today and will be there until Friday.

From a Tarot perspective, you might think of this transit as the High Priestess wearing the Hermit’s clothes. She’s putting on her cowl.

The Moon in Virgo, or High Priestess in the Hermit’s clothing, is a time for practical, quiet reflection. Seeking the advice of an expert, and listening carefully to what they have to say could be worthwhile.

Or maybe someone will be asking you for your advice.

Your home is more important now than the outside world. Start thinking how to make it more practical. You might not be ready to do the work just yet, but this is a great time to plan.

Emotionally, it’s a time of calm. Perfect for listening and reflecting rather than acting out in passion. Take your time. There’s no rush.

Study, organization, contemplation, solitude, emotional self-reflection. Don’t be afraid to be alone right now. There’s lot’s to do on your own.

6 of Cups

It’s a wonderful day to say thank you – to your family, friends, and even your enemies.

Nostalgia and happy memories might fill your head and it’s worth remembering all the love there is around you.  Take pleasure in acknowledging it and grateful to extend it further.

Giving and receiving are two sides of the same joy.  Take pleasure in both and don’t be shy to tell people how much they mean to you.   You’ll probably be surprised by how much they love you back.

With close relationships, this is an especially important time to remember the history and strength of your time together. It’s these ties that have helped you through your most serious moments – both good and bad.

Don’t take them lightly, close friends really are special, and not as common as you might think.

Predictions Go High-Tech at the Wong Tai Sin Temple

Fortune Telling & Oblation Arcade - Wong Tai Sin

Fortune Telling & Oblation Arcade

According to asiaone.com, after the Wong Tai Sin Temple released a divination app for smart phones and a prediction link on their website, business at the fortune-telling market surrounding the temple has been going down.

I posted about this market last year. The readers there are usually very busy around the Lunar New Year when thousands of people visit the temple and afterwards have their fortune told.

This year, when visitors throw the traditional divining sticks, instead of following up with the readers at the market, they can use the temple’s new app to find out what the sticks mean.

Or they can throw the sticks online and get an answer without even going to the temple.

Apparently the virtual oracles are popular, especially with young people.

But readers from the market say the apps can’t replace what they do.

The app doesn’t consider the querent’s year of birth, or what day it is, or what the weather is like, all things that would be incorporated into a traditional reading.

The stick you pull is only one part of the story.

A temple spokesperson agreed, and claimed that they weren’t trying to discourage people from getting personal readings. They just wanted to offer visitors a convenient option.

And despite myself being reader, I think the temple is right. The apps are no different than the little white book that comes with a Tarot deck.

They’re great for getting a general idea of what a card, or a yarrow stick might mean. And sometimes that’s enough.

What a wonderful day.  You feel open and loving and willing to let the world know – at least if they ask.  You might not feel like running out and embracing everyone you see, but there’s a sense of contentment and well-being that’s impossible to ignore.

This is an excellent time to enjoy and share.  Be generous with your feelings. There’s really nothing to fear in letting people know you care.

Give as you can and laugh out loud as much as possible, even when you’re alone. It may have been some time since you’ve felt this good.  Enjoy. You deserve it.

Beyond Nevermore

Beyond Nevermore in support of Edgar Allen Poe House and Museum

There are a lot of Edgar Allen Poe fans out there who would jump at the chance to ask the late author some questions about his life and work. And normally that would be impossible.

In fact, it still might be, but officials and friends of Baltimore’s Poe House and Museum are going to try.

On the weekend of March 3rd and 4th, they’re bringing psychics and paranormal experts to Westminster Hall, a church just steps away from Poe’s gravesite.

It’s part of a fundraising event they’re calling Beyond Nevermore, featuring two evenings of controlled experiments that will attempt to contact Edgar Allen Poe.

Organizers aren’t promising that Poe will actually show during any of the two-hour programs, but they’re keeping an open mind.

They’re also taking questions from the audience, so if you attend, make sure you have a query ready. It just might be the one Edgar answers.

Moon in Leo – High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

The High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

High Priestess as Strength

The Moon moves into Leo today and stays there until Wednesday.

Translated into Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is wearing Strength’s clothing. She’s thrown off her heavy cape and is spending some time outside with her lion.

The Moon in Leo, or High Priestess in Strength’s clothing is potentially a time of emotional power. Something beautiful that’s usually under wraps can finally be revealed.

The silence is broken. Quiet wisdom and passion can be united. During this time, it might be difficult to keep your ideas to yourself. But why should you?

Try finding an outlet for plans you’ve been sitting on? This is an opportunity to shine if you’re not over-burdened by self-consciousness.

It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but letting your wilder side out right now could be positive. The sun isn’t always shining. Take advantage of it when it does.

Ace of Cups

Emotional renewal is the name of the game today.  A new way of feeling about something and/or somebody is about to emerge.  Perhaps you’re feeling it already – it’s like that first hint of spring or when a magnolia tree finally blossoms after a long cold winter.

Joy and hope are in the air and accessible to you.  Throw away any gloom you’ve been dragging around and wake up to the inspiration of postive emotions.  There’s a sense that anything can happen and it’s probably going to be good. Be receptive to the love that’s around you and give it back in kind.
