I just love this video by Pixelpongo called Pandemonio.
Though it’s unrelated to Tarot, it does start off with some mesmerizing Devils, and half way through (about 1:44) there’s a wonderful fortune-teller with her crystal ball.
The whole thing is made with round felt circles – amazing! Take a look …

In Tarot, the Devil often represents obsessions, compulsions, and self-generated restrictions.
When he shows up in a reading, it’s typically worthwhile to examine areas in your life where you might be feeling stuck or restrained by restrictive attitudes or addictive-like behaviours.
Though it can be tough when the Devil’s around, it looks like the Devil himself might be having a bit of a hard time these days, at least according to the amusing video below by WÖNKY Films.
It’s not always easy being Master of The Nether Regions …

As Halloween is drawing near, I asked my RWS deck to show me a card that would inspire a good Halloween spread … the card I got was the Devil.
Though at his more challenging the Devil represents brutish power games, physical obsessions, and spiritual imbalance, at his best he can reflect hard work, a fiendish sense of humour, and an enthusiasm for breaking taboos and exposing hypocrisy.
One way or another, the Devil asks us to face our demons. It’s a spooky thing to do, perfect for Halloween.
So here we go, a Halloween inspired, Face Your Demons Spread …
1. What is the spooky demon I’m most afraid of facing?
2. How am I bound or chained to it?
3. How can I unchain myself?
4. What false belief, silly taboo, or outdated orthodoxy am I clinging onto?
5. What purpose has this perspective served for me?
6. What might be a more balanced and useful perspective to explore?
7. How can I find humour in the demon I’ve been facing?

If I were ever asked what the Devil and Moon cards might look like in ballet form, I think I’d point to the short film by Chris Turner called Hallowed.
It’s based on Dante’s Inferno and features the English National Ballet.
I can’t embed the video here, but if you click on the Devil and Moon cards below, you’ll see what I mean.

#15 – The Devil
Don’t be frightened by the Devil but certainly take him seriously. He’s no lightweight. He is earth – the deepest and darkest part of it and he plays hard.
He is physicality, materiality, reality. He’s in the world of the senses unhindered by the spirit or the mind. He is what we can see, hear, smell, touch and taste and when he’s around it’s hard to get enough.
Obsessive behaviour is highlighted today – what’s yours? You’re probably fixated on something – good or bad?
Sex, drugs and wild living might be obvious places to look, but could your obsession be something you don’t even notice because it’s an ‘acceptable’ addiction. Maybe too much study, work, an unrelenting compulsion to make money, an obsession with being ‘perfect’?
Once you’ve found your mania, take a look to see if it’s a problem or not. It’s up to you to decide when you’ve had or done enough. Sometimes you need to obsess for things to really happen. Or are you just making excuses?
Watch for a feeling of disjointedness within yourself. Does it feel like your spirit is in sync with your conscious behaviour or are you wrestling your ideals to fit with what you’re actually doing?
Love, live and laugh hard today but pay attention to whether or not you’re actually doing what you need to be doing. You’re the only one who can chain or unchain yourself to anything.
