What is creativity? For me it’s about taking an idea and growing with it, whatever that idea might be about. By re-making, re-shaping, or just re-imagining the world we’re in, we’re being creative. Like the Empress from the Tarot deck, creativity is quite simply giving birth to something new (metaphorically or otherwise).

Creation and the celebration of the senses are highlighted today. Art, food, music – anything that inspires our physical and emotional selves will inspire you and be well worth the time.
Nurture yourself and others. It’ll probably be hard not to. Nurturance isn’t just a luxury. You need to maintain and even increase your strength in order to create what you’ve been working on. Eat delicious, healthy foods, surround yourself with beauty, take warm, aromatic baths . . . it’s all part of the Empress’ path to creation.
If you’ve been dealing with issues surrounding motherhood, women, or femininity in general, this would be a great day to take a closer look. There’s wonderful energy now to help you resolve issues you might have thought irresolvable.

The picture below (which I found at VictorianWeb.org) is by Edmund J. Sullivan. It’s an illustration he did for the 1836 publication of Thomas Carlyle’s novel Sartor Resartus: The Life and Opinions of Herr Teufelsdroch.
The drawing is called A Fool’s Paradise, and when I saw it, I was struck by the number of Tarot characters pictured in it. Not only is the Fool represented (as both a Fool and an Emperor), there’s also the Magician, the Empress, the Hierophant, and the Hermit. Wow!
The only character in this picture who’s not overtly Tarot-oriented is the guy on the left taking notes. I’m guessing that he’s meant to be Herr Teufelsdroch himself, but to keep with the Tarot theme, I’m going to name him the King of Swords, a man of fine words and intellect able to explain what all the others in the picture might be doing.
