More Tarot inspired music from Thomas Oboe Lee . . .

Just a couple of weeks ago I posted an MP3 of one of Lee’s marimba pieces from Eight Tarot Cards for Madam Rubio.

Here you can see and hear all eight cards as performed by Stephen Klunk and Isabelle Huang at a BGSU recital this past April.

Really nice.

Wheel of Fortune

Do it now!  That’s right it’s a fantastic day to get going on whatever project (especially a new one) you’ve been thinking about.  Opportunities abound for you to finally move forward with your plan.

Don’t be afraid if you think you can’t do it?  You’ve been spending plenty of time thinking about it.  Look close, you’ll see you have all you need to make it work. The only thing that will slow you down is doing things the same old way.  So stop that – and start fresh now.  You’re ready to go.  Go!

And if you happen to be feeling in the writing or publishing mood – this is an especially fantastic day.  Take the chance and see what you come up with – you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the effort.

#11 – Strength

Learn to direct your inner wildness during this period of fiery intensity and your personal power is likely to grow.  Innocence and purity work together balancing your passion with wisdom.  Explore ways to act assertively but without aggression.  The gentle touch might go a lot further than a loud voice or an impetuous rage.

It’s a very creative time and you’re encouraged to allow yourself room to flourish.  Don’t be shy.  This is the moment to take action and move forward with plans you may have held off on until now.

Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today.   You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.  This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far.  Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.

Virtue is likely to be a key concept.  Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.  Are your emotions in line with your thinking?  Are you acting in a way that accurately reflects you’re beliefs and feelings?  Explore these questions and relax.  Your ship will arrive soon.

Susan and the Mermaid

December 8th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s a holiday gift for every Tarot lover’s list!

Susan and the Mermaid is the rediscovered tale of a magic ring, an underwater kingdom, and a wise old woman who knew how to make her granddaughter’s dreams come true. And if that’s not enough to entice you …. it was written and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith!

Of course Tarot readers around the world know Smith as the illustrator of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, perhaps the most widely used deck in the world. But did you know she was a writer? In fact, by the time she was twenty, Smith had already published three critically acclaimed books.

Susan and the Mermaid was first published in 1912, three years after the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. It appeared in the Christmas edition of The Delineator, a woman’s magazine meant for mothers and their children.

This new edition reproduces the original text and images. It also provides a close-up look at dozens of full-colour illustrations Smith created to accompany the story. It looks great.

Thank you Corrine Kenner for posting this video. I can’t wait to get a copy of the book!

There’s so much to do right now you probably feel you can’t keep up.  Don’t worry –  you can.  Just keep things in motion and try to stay focused on whatever task you’re working on at each particular moment.  You’ve got more than enough energy for everything right now, try not to give up.

Emotionally things might get a little hairy, but as with your work, you’re more than able to cope.  The changes going on in your life right now are good ones. You’ve put them into motion yourself and you’ll be just fine.

"I Will Help You"

As a professional Tarot reader, I found this video interesting. It shows how some clients are willing to put up with quite a lot to get a $5 Tarot reading. In this case ….

1) Confusion as to whether or not the establishment was open, ie. sandwich board out, but neon sign off – brought up questions of false advertising, but didn’t scare them away.

2) Promises to remove ‘bad luck curses’ 100% guaranteed – made them laugh, but didn’t scare them away.

3) Pointed-eared, demon-like oracle pictured on sign – disturbed them a little, but didn’t scare them away.

4) Extraordinarily long wait before answering machine picked up – gave them time to shoot the video, and didn’t scare them away. In fact she left her number.

These ladies were determined to get a Tarot reading. Good on them. It’s great to see people who really want to learn from the cards.

But if it were me, the moment I saw that demon-eared oracle, I’d have been out of there fast.

It looks like it’ll be a sweet day.  Open communication full of love and tenderness.  This is a day to make sure you tell the people you love how much they mean to you.

If you’re starting a romantic relationship, or in one, it can be especially delicious.  Be romantic and enjoy each other.  It’s a time of beauty, peace and innocence, the reason we love love so much.

If you’re not feeling romantic, take the energy and let yourself simply express how much you care about those around you.  It will be most powerful if you tell them one-to-one.  Let them know they’re special, it’ll make you feel great too.

There’s not much to say about this video. A dog, a kerchief, a crystal ball and the theme to Bewitched.

I don’t think the dog is really psychic.
