Moon in Virgo – High Priestess in the Hermit's Clothing

The High Priestess wearing the Hermit's clothing

High Priestess as Hermit

The moon moves into Virgo today at 4:53 pm EST and stays there until March 19th at 4:02 pm.

From a Tarot perspective, you might think of this transit as the High Priestess wearing the Hermit’s clothes. She’s putting on her cowl.

The High Priestess is silent, still, wise and mysterious.

She listens and contemplates, rarely ‘speaking out’. Instead, she reflects emotions around her, like a mirror or a pool of water.

The mysteries are to be found in everything that can be perceived, and the High Priestess perceives all, flowing easily from one thing to the next.

The Hermit is an old guy in a cave, a mountain or maybe an attic. He’s alone, solitary, taking the time to look within.

The light in his world comes from his own candle or lantern. It’s a light that shines from inside out.

He too is silent, still, wise and mysterious, but he isn’t so much about the flow.

He’s grounded, preferring to stop and look at the details, digging through what he knows already rather than seeking out what’s new.

For the High Priestess to behave in a Hermetic fashion isn’t too difficult. The hardest part is focusing on the details.

The Moon in Virgo, or High Priestess in the Hermit’s clothing, is a time for practical, quiet reflection. Seeking the advice of an expert, and listening carefully to what they have to say could be worthwhile.

Or maybe someone will be asking you for your advice.

Your home is more important now than the outside world. Start thinking how to make it more practical. You might not be ready to do the work just yet, but this is a great time to plan.

Emotionally, it’s a time of calm. Perfect for listening and reflecting rather than acting out in passion. Take your time. There’s no rush.

Study, organization, contemplation, solitude, emotional self-reflection. Don’t be afraid to be alone right now. There’s lot’s to do on your own.

You don’t know what’s coming next or from which direction it’s coming. Valour is important today. Stay true to yourself, firm in your stance and be prepared for anything and everything.

There will be a lot on the go and you’ll probably be tested. But if you keep your chin up, your back strong and take things one step at a time, the results will be well worthwhile.

Stay strong – you’ve got it in you. And whether or not you know it, you’re in a position of strength.

Porn, Tarot and Spanish TV

Spanish Coat of Arms

Pornography and Tarot have have been connected again. This time in Spain.

Concerns have been raised about illegal television stations broadcasting questionable content – pornography and Tarot readings.

Not together, just too often and at the wrong times. Some stations are running Tarot shows 24 hours a day when they’re only allowed between 10pm and 7am.

Same thing for the porn. Though in some cases, the adult content shouldn’t be running at all.

Unhappy though they say they are, the federal government claims they don’t have control in this situation.

They say the stations are located in the autonomous regions. Action can only be taken by local authorities who may or may not be interested in making change.

The King of Swords

Clear rational thinking is at the fore today.  Is there something you need to take control of?  Have you been wavering and wishy-washy lately?  Stop procrastinating.

Focus, take charge and get it done.   Have the courage to be clear and rational.  Cut through the fog and let logic rule the day.

You know who you are, you know what you want and you’re sure you deserve it.   Go to it.  But beware of dictating what’s best for those around you.

You might know how to take care of yourself, but let others take care of their own lives, their own way.

Moon In Leo – High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

The High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

High Priestess as Strength

The Moon moves into Leo at 3:33 pm EST and will stay there until Thursday, March 17th at 3:57 pm.

Translated into Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is wearing Strength’s clothing. She’s thrown off her heavy cape and is spending some time outside with her lion.

The High Priestess is loving, but somewhat aloof. Silence, reflection and occult wisdom are her specialties.

She’s not one for horseplay, preferring quiet meditation and serious study. But she’s sensitive, not shy. When the need arises, she has no problem communicating how she feels.

Her intelligence comes from listening, paying attention to all around her. No one vision is sacred, but having one is. Without the spirit, life for her would be empty.

Strength is interested in the spirit as well. It’s what drives her, and she’s not afraid for the world to know.

Strength is bold yet innocent, almost instinctual in her ways. She’s powered by the sun and is adept at controlling its awesome energy.

She has no need for sunscreen, or padding against the lion. They act as one. Flowers and white cotton are all the protection she needs.

The High Priestess is out of her element here, but it’s certainly not the worst place for her to be. She appreciates Strength’s soul, if not always her way of expressing it.

The Moon in Leo, or High Priestess in Strength’s clothing is potentially a time of emotional power. Something beautiful that’s usually under-wraps can finally be revealed.

The silence is broken. Quiet wisdom and passion can be united. During this time, it might be difficult to keep your ideas to yourself. But why should you?

Try finding an outlet for plans you’ve been sitting on? This is an opportunity to shine if you’re not over-burdened by self-consciousness.

It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but letting your wilder side out right now could be positive. The sun isn’t always shining. Take advantage of it when it does.

There’s so much to do right now you probably feel you can’t keep up.  Don’t worry –  you can.

Just keep things in motion and try to stay focused on whatever task you’re working on at each particular moment.  You’ve got more than enough energy for everything right now, try not to give up.

Emotionally things might get a little hairy, but as with your work, you’re more than able to cope.

The changes going on in your life right now are good ones. You’ve put them into motion yourself and you’ll be just fine.

Tarot Views the News – Japan

March 14th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Flag of Japan

Today, Tarot Views the News looks at themes surrounding the situation in Japan.

This is not meant to be a predictive reading, but rather a quick Tarot glimpse at the following:

•describe the Earthquake
•describe the Tsunami
•what is Nuclear Energy
•what is Fortitude

King of Cups from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

King of Cups

The first card I pulled asked the cards to describe the Earthquake. The card I got was the King of Cups.

A king sits alone on a slab of concrete that appears to be floating in the sea. A fish jumps out of the water on the king’s left, a boat floats by on his right.

This card typically is not about earthquakes. But last Friday’s earthquake caused a tsunami that wiped out whole villages along the coastline.

Like this king, people were washed to sea. Water was and is everywhere.

#6 The Lovers from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

#6 The Lovers

When I asked the cards to describe the Tsunami, I got the Lovers card.

Two naked figures stand under an angel, a tree behind the man is on fire, while a snake encircles the apple tree behind the woman.

There’s a mountain in the background that reminds me of the volcano Shinmoedake. The earth seems split between the couple and there’s a disturbing cloud floating above.

Though everything has been stripped bare, the Japanese people continue to be unified, hopefully blessed by the Angel above them.

These first two cards are interesting. If I were to consciously place them, I’d probably choose the King of Cups for the Tsunami and the Lovers for the Earthquake.

But in fact, they’re working together. As has been said in the press, these are ‘twin disasters.’ Like the Lovers themselves, the Earthquake and Tsunami are one.

#3 The Empress from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

#3 The Empress

The question, ‘what is nuclear energy’ was answered with the Empress.

Stars sparkle bright on her crown as she sits on her own slab of concrete surrounded by water and a field of wheat and flowers.

The Empress provides the world with abundance and joy, but also sadness. She is Mother Nature, and not to be taken lightly.

In the context of this question, nuclear energy might be the sparkling power she wears on her crown. It’s the brilliance of nuclear fission that can comfort or kill.

It’s always tempting to see this card as only positive, filled with love, support and nurturance. And in many ways that’s how we’ve been looking at nuclear power.

But as beautiful as the Empress is, she rules over one of the most painful cards in the Tarot. The Three of Swords, sorrow.

Nuclear energy is similar. It’s incredibly wonderful when everything is good, but when it’s bad, it’s absolutely devastating.

3 of Wands from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

3 of Wands

The final question was, ‘what is Fortitude?’ The card I got was the 3 of Wands.

A person stands watching boats on the water while the sun seems to be setting.

Fortitude is waiting with patience and virtue. But it’s not without action. The astrological correspondence for this card is the Sun in Aries.

There’s so much to do, and so little that can be done. It’s like the person in the card has to wait patiently, while being ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice.

This card is a three, ruled by the Empress already drawn. Everything is now in motion. Fortitude is the courage and resilience to stand firm and face what’s to come.

Love, healing and courage to the Japanese people.

#2 – The High Priestess

This is a good day to give your spirit some serious attention.  Take a little time by yourself to think about what it is that you believe.  What do you think of the world and your place in it?  What ultimately gives your life meaning?

It’s also a good time right now to pay attention to the messages other people have been sending you.   Let yourself absorb the world around you without feeling the need to jump in right away and take action.  This is a better time to sit and receive than to act.

Observe, listen and think about what it is you’re doing.  Through reflection you’ll start to see all sides.  Through this wider perspective you’ll find the priorities and direction that can help you on your path.

Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today.   You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.

This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far.  Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.

Virtue is likely to be a key concept.  Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.

Are your emotions in line with your thinking?  Are you acting in a way that accurately reflects you’re beliefs and feelings?  Explore these questions and relax.  Your ship will arrive soon.
