Summer Sunshine Spread

June 22nd, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Yesterday was the Solstice. Summer has officially arrived on this side of the planet and I love it!

Long days, lots of sunshine and absolutely no need for heavy outerwear. It’s my favourite season.

So in honour of the Summer and all things bright, I made this little Summer Sunshine Spread.

Just five short questions about life in the sun …

Summer Sunshine Spread
•what can I see clearly now?
•what should I grow?
•what’s been waiting to be warmed up?
•what might need some cooling down?
•what would be a lot of fun to play with this summer?

Happy Summer Everyone!! Have a great new season!

#3 – The Empress

Creation and the celebration of the senses are highlighted today.  Art, food, music – anything that inspires our physical and emotional selves will inspire you and be well worth the time.

Nurture yourself and others.  It’ll probably be hard not to.  Nurturance isn’t just a luxury.  You need to maintain and even increase your strength in order to create what you’ve been working on. Eat delicious, healthy foods, surround yourself with beauty, take warm, aromatic baths . . . it’s all part of the Empress’ path to creation.

If you’ve been dealing with issues surrounding motherhood, women, or femininity in general, this would be a great day to take a closer look.  There’s wonderful energy now to help you resolve issues you might have thought irresolvable.

Mars in Gemini – The Tower Strikes the Lovers' Angel

The Tower's Lightening Strikes the Lovers' Angel - Mars in Gemini

Lightening Strikes the Lovers' Angel

Mars moves into Gemini today and stays there until August 3rd.

Looking at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it’s like the Tower’s struck the Lovers’ Angel. The heavens are shaking. Are the Lovers about to go for a tumble?

The Lovers are naked, open and vulnerable. They’ve courageously exposed themselves in their quest for truth.

The Lovers yearn for union, desiring to commit to one another under the blessings of the divine.

They understand what it means to say ‘I do’ because they’ve looked at all sides before making their decision.

Once they’ve finally chosen, they’d like the world to know what they’ve done. And they’re happy to be the ones to share the news.

The Tower, on the other hand, is about dissolution rather than union. It shakes things up so that they’re never quite the same again.

A bolt of lightening from out of nowhere – it could be a blast of inspiration or a revelation that we’d rather not have had. Either way, it motivates us to action.

The Tower sees no difference between a fortress and a prison. Both are easily brought down with a little fire from the sky. And usually not much can be salvaged from the blaze.

The Tower probably wasn’t what the Lovers were hoping for when they planned their day of union. But if there were ever a couple flexible enough to cope, it would probably be them.

Mars in Gemini, or the Tower striking the Lovers’ Angel, can be a time of disruption in relationships, and mental attitudes. Commitments you thought were sturdy, might suddenly not seem so solid.

But paradise lost could actually mean freedom from choices that no longer satisfy.

New information and circumstances can ultimately lead to expansion of the mind and a deepening of commitment. A new solidity can be established, but the foundation is likely to shift.

Look at this period as a challenge to be as open-minded as you can. Ideas will likely be flying fast and furious. Options you hadn’t considered might soon seem quite reasonable.

Go with the flow. Liberation and illumination are possible. Not despite the chaos, but because of it.

Sun in Cancer – The Sun Dressed as the Charioteer

Sun Dressed in the Charioteer's Clothing - Sun in Cancer

Sun Dressed as the Charioteer

The Sun moves into Cancer today, and stays there until July 23rd.

From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the Sun is dressed as the Charioteer. He’s put on some armour and exchanged his horse for a chariot and a couple of sphinxes.

The Sun is sunshine. He’s enthusiasm, joy and visibility. He’s warmth, freedom and victory.

He’s a child who’s not really a child, but a soul that’s been on the road for a very long time, and his destination is finally in view.

The Sun only seems young in that he’s open, unattached and looking to play. But if we look a little deeper, we see that he’s actually the source of life, the innocent infinity within us all.

The Chariot has also been on the road a while. But when the Charioteer travels, he shields himself from the sun with his starry canopy, and wears reflective moons as his lapels.

He’s a soldier, capable of both aggression and defense. He’s carried forward by the power of his convictions, and by commitments he made back home.

The Charioteer doesn’t give up. He’s determined to complete whatever task is before him, and he typically does it well.

The Sun is always up for adventure, so he feels all right in this position. Though forced to cover up more than he’s accustomed to, he’s enthusiastic about getting out on the road.

The Sun in Cancer, or the Sun dressed as the Charioteer, is a time when the fight might not seem as important as the journey. And it might be more productive to play a little than to battle.

It’s a period of strength, vitality and the will to succeed. Use it to push through emotional blocks, or attitudes that may have been holding you back.

And get back to work on any projects you’ve been letting languish. Perseverance should be the word of the month.

But try looking at what you have to do as a game, rather than a taxing burden. As long as you keep playing, you’ll be winning.

10 of Wands

It’s finally getting too much for you.  You’re spending so much time looking after all the little details for both you and everyone else that you’re almost too overwhelmed to keep going.

Sometime soon you’re going to have to put down the load and reevaluate what you’re doing.  There’s only so much you can carry before you collapse.

Is it possible that you’ve lost a bit of your fire in all the busy-ness?  By now you’re probably so overloaded that the motivations you began with have all but disappeared in the chaos of your daily life.

Take some time to yourself to rediscover what really matters to you.  You can’t keep carrying the load for everyone. Now’s the time to start putting some of it down.

Oneironautics – A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming

June 20th, 2011 § 1 comment § permalink

Lucid dreaming can be a lot of fun. It can also provide profound insights into areas of your life that your conscious mind usually keeps hidden.

The dream team of Dylan, Jared, and Tom, are trying to teach people to lucid dream. In fact, their goal is to get at least 1000 people to learn how, then to share their experiences online.

Oneironautics – A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming is the name of their illustrated guide. In it, they promise to teach not only how to be aware during your dreams, but also how to fly, meet with dream characters, and even shoot fireballs.

Along with their book, they’re building a companion website to allow readers to record their lucid dreams and share them with other dreamers through online networks.

Apparently they want more lucidity in the world and are doing their part to make that happen. If you want to help, they’ve got a Kickstarter project that ends tomorrow.

They’ve already raised more than double the amount they were looking for, but maybe you’d like to donate anyway just to get one of the goodies that comes with giving.

Moon in Pisces – High Priestess in the Moon's Clothing

June 20th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

High Priestess dressed in the moon's clothingThe Moon moves into Pisces today, and stays there until Thursday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon.

She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.

The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.

During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.

Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.

Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

Page of Cups

Sweetness abounds when the page of cups is around.  This is a great day to communicate emotions – enthusiastically and without censor, especially to those you love.

There’s a lightness in the air and the sense that something new could be starting.  And it just might be.

It’s good to remember though, that there’s no need for you to commit to anything serious right now.  It’s still the time of freshness and beginnings.  Becoming heavy now would only dampen what’s still just growing.

Express yourself and let your imagination wander.

#0 – The Fool

This is a great day to take the leap and do something different.  It might seem crazy and you have no idea how it’s going to turn out, or maybe even how you got on this path in the first place, but here you are.  It’s time for you to make your move and do so without fear.

The Fool card isn’t telling you to be an idiot, but rather to stop double thinking yourself all the time and worrying that every single thing is in order before you can make a move.  Life isn’t really that logical.  There is no way to prepare for all eventualities, no matter how smart you are.  Do what you can and let the universe take care of the bigger story.
