#18 – The Moon

Things might seem a little dark today but don’t despair.  It’s always night before it’s day.  The moon card represents this darkness before dawn.

You might be challenged to face your fears, or at least name them so you can see whether they’re really as powerful as all that.  Things often seem a lot scarier in the dark than they do the next day.

Try taking some time today to really explore those things that you usually shy away from.  Psychic energy is especially strong and it will be well worth your while to find some silence and listen carefully to your inner voice.

Secrets and mystery, hazy half-truths – they’re all part of the moon’s power.  How you feel might prove to be more informative than what you see.   Pay attention to the shadows, it’ll be light soon.

Babylon Village

The Board of Trustees for Babylon Village, Long Island, is considering a set of new regulations for psychic reading businesses.

The new proposal recommends they be rezoned to the industrial part of town presently populated by small factories, gas stations, and a gym.

This zone not only serves industry, it’s also the location designated for businesses described by the village code as having ‘objectionable characteristics’.

If anyone in Babylon Village decides to open a peep show, massage parlour, adult bookstore, or porn house, this is where they’d have to set up shop.

In addition to rezoning to the sketchy part of town, the proposal would require psychic readers to obtain a license, be fingerprinted, and buy liability insurance to run their business.

Mayor Ralph Scordino insists there’s no intent to disparage clairvoyants, only a desire to protect the public.

The one psychic storefront presently in the downtown core would be allowed to remain where it is.

Trustees are scheduled to vote on the new regulations September 27th.

Let yourself get carried away by laughter and joy.  Seek out the beautiful within yourself and those around you.  You won’t be disappointed if you do.

Rock and Roll is the inspiration behind David Rosenhaus’ new deck – The Rock and Roll Oracle Card Deck.

He sees music as intimately connected to the spirit and wanted to use songs we already know and love to deliver messages from the divine.

It’s meant to be the first in a series of Rock and Roll Oracles, covering the years, genres and styles of popular music through the last half century.

This first one is the Classic Rock Edition and focuses on music through 1973.

It includes classics like Zepplin’s Stairway To Heaven as the Choices card, and the Stone’s Sympathy for the Devil as the Shadow Side.

Appropriately, Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze represents Confusion.

The 44 Card deck and its accompanying guide book are already at the printers, and the deck should be ready mid-December.

Scottish Flag

A 2006 visit to a Tarot reader by Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond was cause for general amusement in parliament a couple of weeks ago.

Opposition and Labour Party leader Iain Gray asked about Salmond’s visit to Gypsy Amalia, who apparently has a picture of him on display in her caravan.

Rather than try to deny the event, Salmond endorsed Amalia saying she correctly predicted the result of the 2007 election, which of course, he won.

He even went so far as to say he’ll be back to visit her again to find out when the next Labour leadership contest would be held.

It was all in good fun, and nice to see that the Tarot reader came off on the positive end of the joke.

The Moon moves into Cancer today, and stays there until Friday.

Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, you might describe it as the High Priestess dressed in the clothing of the Charioteer. She’s left the safety of her pillars and veil, and has hit the road.

The Moon in Cancer, or the High Priestess dressed as the Charioteer, can be a powerful time of comfortable change and emotional resilience.

Knowledge gathered in silence has coalesced and it’s time to share without fear of being hurt.

Emotional loyalty, intuitive direction and strength of character can give you the resolve to go forward. Even into the unknown.

It’s a wonderful day to say thank you – to your family, friends, and even your enemies.

Nostalgia and happy memories might fill your head and it’s worth remembering all the love there is around you.  Take pleasure in acknowledging it and grateful to extend it further.

Giving and receiving are two sides of the same joy.  Take pleasure in both and don’t be shy to tell people how much they mean to you.   You’ll probably be surprised by how much they love you back.

Tower Strikes Strength

Looking at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it would be like the Tower is tumbling around Strength and her lion.

The Tower is a surprise, an unexpected change that gives you no time to prepare.
