There’s so much to do right now you probably feel you can’t keep up.  Don’t worry –  you can.

Just keep things in motion and try to stay focused on whatever task you’re working on at each particular moment.  You’ve got more than enough energy for everything right now, try not to give up.

Emotionally things might get a little hairy, but as with your work, you’re more than able to cope.

The changes going on in your life right now are good ones. You’ve put them into motion yourself and you’ll be just fine.

Tarot Views the News – Occupy Wall Street

October 14th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Wall Street at Broad Street

For almost a month now, thousands of people have been involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Protests have been spreading rapidly, with many more rallies planned for tomorrow.

It’s an important story that seems to be growing, and I thought it would be a good topic for Tarot Views the News.

This is not meant to be a predictive reading, but rather a quick look at the energies surrounding the situation.

Using the Rider Waite Smith deck, the card I pulled was #15, the Devil.

A winged beast with horns and the feet of a bird sits on something solid looking. Chained to it are a man and a woman.

#15 The Devil from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot

It’s the chains around the necks of the naked couple that drew my attention first.

In this context they might represent being chained to a desk, kept down by ‘the man’, or bound to the vicious circle of materialism with its spending highs and austerity lows.

People are feeling stripped bare and tied up. They’re calling for change to the financial structures, and freedom from oppression and economic bondage.

Looking at the picture though, it seems that the chains aren’t very tight. Have they maybe become comfortable, or is the couple just too afraid to try to make a run for it?

It’s also interesting to note that the couple have horns, and each has a tail. They’re not all that different from the beast, though they’re much smaller, and apparently dependent on his good will.

The card speaks of obsessions, intensity, and roadblocks. It focuses on the physical, and in its more challenging aspect, can represent materiality gone mad, greed, and addictive-like imbalance.

There are pit falls here for everyone involved.

For the protestors, the Devil might be reminding them to be careful not to get so caught up in the fight that they lose sight of the spirit in which they first began.

It’s important that everyone recognize the Devil in themselves, as well as the humanity in their adversaries.

With respect to law enforcement, the Devil could be pointing to the danger of heavy handedness or the imposition of unjust sanctions and/or arrests. Hopefully, they’ll avoid this trap.

And for those being protested against, Wall Street and the corporate decision makers, the card might be asking them to examine their own shadows.

Where might the Devil be managing more of their affairs than they intended or were even aware of?

It could be a crazy day with a lot on the go. Valour is important.

Stay true to yourself, firm in your stance and be prepared for anything and everything.

You might feel tested, but you’re up to the task. Stay strong and take things one step at a time, the results will be well worthwhile.

And whether you recognize it or not, you’re in a good position to do what you need to.

Mercury in Scorpio – Magician in Death's Clothing

Mercury in Scorpio, the Magician in Death's clothing

Magician dressed as Death

Mercury moves into Scorpio today and will stay there until November 2nd.

From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the Magician is wearing Death’s clothing. He’s in black armour and riding a white stallion.

The Magician is all about inspirational new beginnings. He gets things started, and makes magic with his vision.

He communicates with clarity, enthusiasm, and genuine insight. He’s more about divine understanding than research and fact checking, but you can count on him to motivate a crowd like few can.

The Magician likes moving forward, and has little time for heavy emotion or nostalgic sentimentality. He’s looking for what’s new, and moves fast to keep up, or even lead the way.

Death, on the other hand, takes things more in stride, sometimes moving slowly if that’s what the situation requires.

Transformation can’t be rushed. It’s an organic process that moves with its own rhythm. Each stage is important, and impossible to miss.

Steady and stubborn, though rich with feeling, Death reminds us all to let go in order to be reborn.

The Magician likes the reborn part, and has little problem with letting go, but he’s less comfortable with the trudging, and the mucky emotions that Death seems to stir.

Mercury in Scorpio, or the Magician in Death’s clothing, is a good time to concentrate on cycles of change. Use them to inspire, rather than to bring you down, or rehash the past.

With all that’s changing, where do you want to focus next? This is a fabulous time to think that through, clear away any stagnant emotions, and start redirecting yourself towards the future.

It’s easier during this period to talk about what’s passed, even if it usually makes you sad. Reminiscences can be fertile soil for new ideas, and clarity of mind protects against letting things get too sappy.

Surrender with your mind wide open, and don’t be afraid to get deep. Transformative miracles most often start with the magic of the awareness.

Moon in Taurus – High Priestess in the Hierophant's Clothing

The High Priestess dressed as the Hierophant

High Priestess in Hierophant's Clothes

The Moon moves into Taurus today and stays there until Saturday.

If you look at this transit through the eyes of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Hierophant. She’s sitting before two acolytes and sharing the secrets she usually guards.

The Moon in Taurus, or High Priestess in the Hierophant’s clothes, is a time of spiritual and emotional certitude.

There’s a sense that the truth can be explained, understood and incorporated into daily life. Rules can and should be followed.

Instead of trying to force others to recognize what you know to be certain, try using this time to simply share your emotional, intellectual and spiritual perceptions.

Celebrate the diversity of spirit in our world, while figuring out for yourself what rules, spiritual or otherwise, work best for you.

Queen of Disks

It looks like you may have set yourself up just right. You’ve created the space you’re in through determined effort and hard work.

Step by step you’ve manifested your own prosperity and this is a wonderful time to enjoy it. It hasn’t always be easy but the rewards are well worth it.

Be generous with your prosperity, and kind to those that haven’t quite done it yet. People might come to you for practical advice or help. Or maybe it will be you taking that step to approach a kindly soul who could help you.

Don’t hesitate either to help or to ask for help. We’re here for each other and create the most beautiful of worlds when we work together.

The Tarot Game by Jude Alexander

The Tarot Game by Jude Alexander

The Tarot Game

Of course, Tarot is entertaining enough without it, but using your favourite deck with The Tarot Game can add a whole new level to the magic.

Jude Alexander, who I was lucky enough to meet this year at BATS, designed the game.

She’s a tarot adept, teacher, and game enthusiast with a degree in Theatre Arts, and years of experience guiding transformational play for individuals and women’s groups.

By combining Tarot with storytelling, and the fun of a board game, she’s created a whole new way to enjoy the cards.

Players throw the dice and make their way around a spiraling snake, pulling cards and answering questions as they go.

The game comes with over 100 questions and a 78 card key word starter deck for Tarot beginners. Experience isn’t necessary, just a desire to play.

Theresa Reed and Donnaleigh de LaRose played a round with Jude on Beyond Worlds in January. Even on the air, with thousands of miles between participants, it was great fun.

To play it in person is even better, by yourself or with others. It’s as good as a meditative tool as it is a game for sharing.

For more details about how The Tarot Game is played, take a look at Theresa’s review on her Tarot Lady blog.

And, watch below, to see Donnaleigh’s ringing endorsement.

Swift communication is at the forefront today.  Have you applied for something and been waiting to hear back?  Expecting some news to finally come down the wire?

Or maybe it will be a surprise. One way or another, the message is on its way and your wait is almost over.  You’ll know soon enough.

Now that your plans are in action, things will start moving quickly.  Communicate what you want and don’t be shy about it.

How else will people know what you’re thinking?  This is the time to get your ideas out there and your message heard.

Happy Birthday Baba Vanga

Baba Vanga, aka Granny Vanga, neé Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova

Baba Vanga

Bulgaria’s most famous clairvoyant, Baba Vanga, was honoured last week on the 100th anniversary of her birth.

Though some sources list January 31, 1911 as her birthday, the people of Rupite, Bulgaria, where she lived and worked for most of her life, seem to think October 3rd was the day. I’ll take their word for it.

There was a mass in her honour at St. Petka’s church, and a silver covered statue of her was unveiled for the first time.

The 1.8-meter monument, created by Prof. Emil Popov, shows her sitting on a bench near a table, just as she typically sat when doing readings for the thousands of people who sought her out through the years.

Blind from the age of 12, she started to attract attention for her visions in her late teens. Through decades of radical change, she sat where she was while politicians, celebrities, and regular folk came to her home in droves.

She’s said to have regularly read for more than a hundred people a day, offering psychic predictions, positive advice, and herbal remedies for healing.

Baba Vanga Stamp

Baba Vanga is credited with predicting many major world events, everything from the assassination of Indira Ghandi and her son, to the breakup of the Soviet Union, to the 9/11 attacks on the US.

Of course there’s a lot of skepticism surrounding some of the things attributed to her, and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church referred to her as a ‘pseudo-icon’. But in Rupite at least, they see her as a woman who did her best to help people, and that she did it well.

Her home has become a museum, and the town of Rupite, near the Greek border has become a monastery-like complex since her death in 1996. It attracts tourists from all over the world, and for this special event, hundreds of people arrived to show their respects.

Who would have thought a psychic from a tiny volcanic town in Bulgaria would achieve such world-wide notoriety and love? Maybe she did, but I find it remarkable.

Happy belated birthday Baba Vanga! I’m glad you were around.

#4 The Emperor from Georgie's Tarot

#4 The Emperor

#4 – The Emperor

You can expect a day of fiery energy and powerful determination.  In whatever you do today, you’re encouraged to do it with strength and creativity – in fact it would be hard not to.  Within your domain you’re the one in charge, so manifest your will.

What have you been wanting to create in your world?  Start making it really happen!

While you’re encouraged to take your power and run with it, there is a challenge associated with the Emperor.  Remember – not everyone might want to do things your way.  Everyone thinks they’re right.

Sometimes you have to give a little.  If you don’t, don’t be surprised if other people start rearing their own Emperor energy and you’re smack dab in the middle of a fight.

Masculine energy is strongly indicated with the Emperor card and issues surrounding males, especially those in authority are likely during this time.  Stay strong and true and you won’t go wrong.
