The Moon moves into Cancer today, and stays there until Tuesday.
Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, you might describe it as the High Priestess dressed in the clothing of the Charioteer. She’s left the safety of her pillars and veil, and has hit the road.
The Moon in Cancer, or the High Priestess dressed as the Charioteer, can be a powerful time of comfortable change and emotional resilience.
Knowledge gathered in silence has coalesced and it’s time to share without fear of being hurt.
Emotional loyalty, intuitive direction and strength of character can give you the resolve to go forward. Even into the unknown.
Try not to coddle yourself. You can only win if you have the courage to play to the end.
Were you thinking of starting something new? This is the time to do it. The energy of The Magician encourages you to start fresh.
Look around – I bet you have all the tools you need for this new enterprise. It’s only up to you to start making things happen.
Name your goal and start listing the steps you need to get there. Especially important is that first step. It can be big or small – just take it! You’re at the very beginning right now, don’t let the long journey ahead dissuade you from going forward.
You can’t go back, so what the heck? Focus on what it is you want to achieve and you can make anything happen.
Beware though, don’t try fooling yourself or others, there’s no need for deception. It will only lead you down the wrong road right from the start. Stay true to your plan and keep yourself focused.
You can do what you need to without resorting to trickery or lies. It’ll work out much better in the long run if you stick to the truth.
Being psychic doesn’t really let you pick winning lottery numbers or see into your future in any reliable detail, and that’s probably a good thing.
Sure I’d like to win the lottery, but if psychics (or Tarot readers) really could pick the numbers, it wouldn’t be fair to those with less developed third eyes.
Soon people would catch on to the psychic winning streaks and next thing you know there’d be a clause on all the tickets barring psychics from playing.
Who wants that?
But seeing into the future too far ahead has even more serious hazards, as demonstrated by the two young psychics in the video below.
Psychic Roommates stars Deen Tarrant-rajj and Alex Patterson. They play two young men with extraordinary future sight.
Rather than being a positive gift, however, it seems to only complicate matters.
Not only do they get way ahead of themselves over who’s drinking whose milk, they see so far into a potential love affair that one of them doesn’t even bother going to the movies with a beautiful girl.
The whole thing is silly, but I laughed.
And it makes a good point. If you’re too busy living in the future, real or potential, you’ll miss all the fun to be had in the present.

#2 – The High Priestess
This is a good day to give your spirit some serious attention. Take a little time by yourself to think about what it is that you believe. What do you think of the world and your place in it? What ultimately gives your life meaning?
It’s also a good time right now to pay attention to the messages other people have been sending you. Let yourself absorb the world around you without feeling the need to jump in right away and take action. This is a better time to sit and receive than to act.
Observe, listen and think about what it is you’re doing. Through reflection you’ll start to see all sides. Through this wider perspective you’ll find the priorities and direction that can help you on your path.
Though the holidays can be a time of good will and good cheer and all that happy stuff, they can also be a time of stress.
From gift shopping to party attending, it’s fun, but exhausting. And the parties themselves aren’t always so easy to navigate.
We gather together with people we love, or at least share something in common with, and practice giving and receiving and generally making merry.
But sometimes despite our best intentions, the gathering of family and friends can set off more emotion than intended.
It’s not unusual for toasts over turkeys to quickly transform into brawls that bring the tree down.
So just in case you’re anticipating unintended fireworks at any of the celebrations you might be attending, I’ve come up with a spread to prepare for potential problem areas.
It’s called the Make It a Merry Holiday Spread, and is meant to be done before setting out to your next party or holiday event.
______________________________________________
1. What person or situation are you concerned about encountering at the event? Or more directly, what worries you most about this party?
2. What’s at the heart of your issue with this person or situation?
3. What would be your usual response to it or them?
4. Is there a response you might try instead?
5. Where can you find a unifying bridge between you and the other person or the situation itself?
6. What advice does the ‘Holiday Spirit’ have to help make this the merriest event it can possibly be?
The Moon moves into Gemini today and will stay there until Sunday.
From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Lovers’ Angel. She floats above the naked couple, blessing their sacred union.
The Moon in Gemini, or High Priestess dressed as the Lovers’ angel, can be an emotionally confusing time, one where internal conflicts arise in order to be reconciled.
But it can also be a time of clarity, honest communication and almost intuitive understanding about yourself and those around you.
Quiet faith teams up with commitment and the Angels approve of the whole thing.
Try to keep your emotions in line with your reason. Going too far either way could disturb a really nice balance.
Sweetness abounds when the page of cups is around. This is a great day to communicate emotions – enthusiastically and without censor, especially to those you love.
There’s a lightness in the air and the sense that something new could be starting. And it just might be.
It’s good to remember though, that there’s no need for you to commit to anything serious right now. It’s still the time of freshness and beginnings. Becoming heavy now would only dampen what’s still just growing.
Tommy and Marie Costello have won their battle against the fortune-telling ban in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Last September they filed suit against the City claiming that the ban was an illegal restriction of free speech in violation of both the U.S. and Mississippi constitutions.
On Tuesday, a federal court agreed, and handed down a preliminary injunction against the ban, prompting Hattiesburg City Attorney Charles Lawrence to recommend that the ordinance be repealed.
According to City Councillor Kim Bradley, it will take another 90 days before the ban is lifted. In the meantime, Council will come up with zoning regulations for new psychic establishments.
As of Tuesday, however, the Costellos and their shop are open and ready for business.
I congratulate them on their win and thank them for their courage to take a stand.
This ban has been in place for almost 100 years, and as Councillor Bradley acknowledges in the news clip below, the change is overdue.
You may have had a tough go of it this last little while, but you’re hardly ready to give up. Have confidence in your inner strength and experience.
You have the tools necessary to get you through this situation. It’s certainly not the first time you’ve faced it so you already know what to expect.
Stand tall and don’t back down from your truth. You care about what you’re doing and that’s why there’s not much choice but to keep going forward. If it gets too hard, take a break, but try not to stop.
Remember your power, it’s real and it comes from inside.
Look at the video below for an excellent Tarot message for December, courtesy of Hay House and The Kitchen Tarot.
In the Kitchen Tarot, the Chariot card is the Rolling Pin. I’d never considered such an association before, but I think it’s pretty great.
The Chariot has traditionally represented steadfast warrior-like energy, and an ability to persevere and achieve success through hard-work and personal integrity.
The rolling pin might not be a warrior, but it’s long been depicted as a handy go-to weapon for women.
More importantly though, it’s used to roll through the bumps and lumps present in any project worth working on.
#7 The Chariot
It’s a strait-forward instrument, just a roller and some handles, but it’s the basic tool for creating everything from the hardiest of breads to the most delicate of pastries.
And of course, it rolls, like all good Chariots do.
The rest of the Kitchen Tarot looks just as fun. It’s a Majors only deck created by Susan Shie, with a guidebook by Dennis Fairchild.
Shie quilted each of the cards using a character she developed in 1998 called St. Quilta the Comforter.
St. Quilta is based on her mother, a nurse who studied natural healing, and obviously is the Queen of the Kitchen Tarot.
The deck is adorable, and the message of the Rolling Pin is excellent.
Keep rolling on through December and bake up something sweet.
