It looks like you may have set yourself up just right. You’ve created the space you’re in through determined effort and hard work.
Step by step you’ve manifested your own prosperity and this is a wonderful time to enjoy it. It hasn’t always be easy but the rewards are well worth it.
Be generous with your prosperity, and kind to those that haven’t quite done it yet. People might come to you for practical advice or help. Or maybe it will be you taking that step to approach a kindly soul who could help you.
Don’t hesitate either to help or to ask for help. We’re here for each other and create the most beautiful of worlds when we work together.
Signs and sigils are the written language of magic.
They’re found carved into runes, holy manuscripts, and sculptures. They’re emblazoned onto buildings, encoded into paintings, and hidden under clothing as tattoos and jewelry.
And of course, there’s plenty to be found in Tarot cards.
As a lover of all things mystical, I can’t help but be fascinated by the written characters used for magic. That’s why the show Sigils & Signs at Brooklyn’s Observatory sounds so fascinating.
Over a dozen artists have come together, each using occult symbols from various traditions and times to explore what it means to be a magician in the modern age.
They’re looking at their work not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also from a magical one. It’s not just an art show, but a collection of ‘wall spells’ intended to transform.
The opening night reception is Friday, April 27th. The show runs through June 17th. See it if you can.
You may have had a tough go of it this last little while, but you’re hardly ready to give up. Have confidence in your inner strength and experience.
You have the tools necessary to get you through this situation. It’s certainly not the first time you’ve faced it so you already know what to expect.
Stand tall and don’t back down from your truth. You care about what you’re doing and that’s why there’s not much choice but to keep going forward. If it gets too hard, take a break, but try not to stop.
Remember your power, it’s real and it comes from inside.
Last week I stopped by The Hermit’s Lamp to visit Andrew McGregor, and to see the Tarot Art Show he has hanging in his shop.
What fun! The artwork was amazing, and chatting with Andrew about Tarot was a true joy.
His shop is full of magical products – candles, herbs, crystals, books, and of course Tarot cards. I got myself a copy of the absolutely gorgeous Mary-El deck while I was there.
I also showed off some of the cards from the deck I’ve been working on with illustrator Ivan Minsloff. You can see me here holding up our Hermit card. I can hardly wait till the deck is done.
In addition to selling magical items, Andrew does readings at the shop, teaches classes, hangs art, and hosts free Tarot meet-ups he calls Coffee with Spirit.
The next ones will be on Saturday, April 7, 10am to noon, and again on May 5th.
If you’re in Toronto, you should definitely stop by. The Hermit’s Lamp is located at 398 Vaughan Rd and open Wednesdays through Saturdays.
The Moon moved into Libra today, and will stay there until Saturday.
Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing Justice’s clothing. She takes on the mantle of the Karmic Decider.
With the High Priestess as Justice, or the Moon in Libra, we might be required to face up to something and decide.
Our emotions will demand respect. If we’ve leaned too far back or forward, we’ll probably find ourselves moving just as dramatically the other way.
It can be a slightly challenging period, perhaps a little manic. But by the time it’s done, something is likely to have been decided upon.
Don’t be alarmed by conflicting emotions. They’re there because you can see both sides. It’s not good enough though to just acknowledge them and walk away.
During this transit you’re being asked to take a stand one way or another. And you’ve got the wisdom and power to do so.
Celebrate with enthusiasm! Today is for fun and sharing. Friends are at the forefront, especially the ladies in your life.
Good times, good friends, good drink – it could be a pretty excellent day. Don’t be afraid to be happy and remember to let people know how much you like them.
Take delight in music, poetry, painting – this is a time of inspiration and creativity. Social interaction with others will be invigorating and fruitful.
Let yourself get carried away by laughter and joy. Seek out the beautiful within yourself and those around you. You won’t be disappointed if you do.
Less mysterious, but at least as interesting is the chance to visit the world’s second largest particle accelerator in Batavia, Illinois, or take a tour below the streets of Sacramento.
In England, the Chislehurst Caves will be open after dark, or for those in Berlin, join a street art tour and take part in a graffiti workshop.
But if nothing’s planned in your area, don’t despair. Consider creating your own event and join the Obscura fun.
Or at the very least, take the opportunity of Obscura Day to look around your own neighbourhood. You never know what curiosities you might find.
There’s so much to do right now you probably feel you can’t keep up. Don’t worry – you can.
Just keep things in motion and try to stay focused on whatever task you’re working on at each particular moment. You’ve got more than enough energy for everything right now, try not to give up.
Emotionally things might get a little hairy, but as with your work, you’re more than able to cope.
The changes going on in your life right now are good ones. You’ve put them into motion yourself and you’ll be just fine.
Just yesterday I wrote about the Walters Art Museum and how they’ve been posting images of their collection on-line. I specifically mentioned the Four Evangelists, and the Wheel of Fortune and World cards.
Following tradition, both cards in the Smith Waite Tarot depict the Gospel writers as the Lion, the Bull, the Eagle, and the Human.
The video below shows almost the same characters come to life on a snowy porch in Unalaska, Alaska.
A little fox has filled in for the bull (which certainly shakes things up on a metaphoric level), but the eagle, cat, and human are all present.
Of course you don’t see the human because she’s doing the filming, but she’s there with the rest of them being a living archetype.
Venus moves into Gemini today and stays there until August 7th.
From a Tarot perspective, this transit is like the Empress is wearing the clothes of the Lovers’ Angel. She’s switched out her robes and grabbed some wings.
Venus in Gemini, or the Empress in the clothes of the Lovers’ Angel, is a fantastic time to commit to someone or something you love, or care about greatly. The blessings of Mother Earth are on side.
Assuming of course, you’ve explored all aspects of the issue, be they romantic, familial, professional or academic.
The Lover’s might be in love, but they’re no fools. They insist on looking carefully before they leap.
And during this time, we’re all encouraged to do so as well.
Explore everything that makes up the sensual world. Take part in life. Revel in it even. Then give some serious thought to all that you’ve experienced.
Learning more about the magic of the world won’t break its spell. It’s beauty will only become more awesome through educated eyes.
