The Tarot Room – Georgianna

If you’re in Eureka, California, or anywhere nearby, and want to see some lovely Tarot art, get down to the Ink People’s Ink Annex gallery to see Tarot As Muse: Humboldt Artists Interpret the Major Arcana.

Under the co-curatorship of mask artist Kathryne DeLorme and Tarot expert Carolyn Ayres, 23 artists have created both an art show and a Tarot deck.

Twenty-two artists randomly chose one card each from the Major Arcana. They researched their cards, then reinterpreted them from their own artistic and spiritual perspectives.

A 23rd artist was chosen to create the card backs.

You can see some of the cards at the Humboldt Artists blog, but if you get to the gallery before the end of July, you can see them all in person and buy a copy of the limited edition deck for yourself.

You can also sign up for a Tarot workshop on Saturday, July 21st with Carolyn Ayers, and/or take part in the Tarot masquerade on Saturday, July 28th.

Fortunately, for those of us not in California, though we’ll miss all the in-person fun, we can still get a copy of the deck if we want. It’s available on-line at the Ink People’s website.

High Priestess as Strength

The Moon moves into Leo today and stays there until Saturday.

Translated into Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is wearing Strength’s clothing. She’s thrown off her heavy cape and is spending some time outside with her lion.

The Moon in Leo, or High Priestess in Strength’s clothing is potentially a time of emotional power. Something beautiful that’s usually under wraps can finally be revealed.

The silence is broken. Quiet wisdom and passion can be united. During this time, it might be difficult to keep your ideas to yourself. But why should you?

Try finding an outlet for plans you’ve been sitting on? This is an opportunity to shine if you’re not over-burdened by self-consciousness.

It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but letting your wilder side out right now could be positive. The sun isn’t always shining. Take advantage of it when it does.

Do it now!  It’s a fantastic day to get going on whatever project (especially a new one) you’ve been thinking about.  Opportunities abound for you to finally move forward with your plan.

Don’t be afraid if you think you can’t do it?  You’ve been spending plenty of time thinking about it.  Look close, you’ll see you have all you need to make it work.

The only thing that will slow you down is doing things the same old way.  Start fresh now.  You’re ready to go.

You’ve made it!  Enjoy!  It feels great to be alive.  After the long journey you’ve finally managed to get to the other side of the night.

There’s no need to be shy – express yourself and let everyone see you smile.

You have confidence now and boundaries no longer pen you in.  Creativity carries you forward as if in a dream.

Focus your imagination and you can manifest what you will.  Be open, free and alive.

It has nothing to do with Tarot. But besides simply loving it, I’m posting it here because it brilliantly teaches a fine lesson, one that I’ve also come across through working with the Tarot.

Don’t be afraid of your shadow or what you’re carrying around in your deepest self.

Let it rise to the surface and take a clear, non-judgmental look at it. Banishing elements of yourself to the unconscious realm without getting to know them first will only lead to sadness.

The strange and unusual is what makes us unique. And the more we get to know the varied aspects of our soul, the easier it is to fully love ourselves and others.

High Priestess as the Chariot

The Moon moves into Cancer today, and stays there until Thursday.

Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, you might describe it as the High Priestess dressed in the clothing of the Charioteer. She’s left the safety of her pillars and veil, and has hit the road.

The Moon in Cancer, or the High Priestess dressed as the Charioteer, can be a powerful time of comfortable change and emotional resilience.

Knowledge gathered in silence has coalesced and it’s time to share without fear of being hurt.

Emotional loyalty, intuitive direction and strength of character can give you the resolve to go forward. Even into the unknown.

Try not to coddle yourself. You can only win if you have the courage to play to the end.

#2 – The High Priestess

This is a good day to give your spirit some serious attention.  Take a little time by yourself to think about what it is that you believe.  What do you think of the world and your place in it?  What ultimately gives your life meaning?

It’s also a good time right now to pay attention to the messages other people have been sending you.   Let yourself absorb the world around you without feeling the need to jump in right away and take action.  This is a better time to sit and receive than to act.

Observe, listen and think about what it is you’re doing.  Through reflection you’ll start to see all sides.  Through this wider perspective you’ll find the priorities and direction that can help you on your path.

So in a follow-up to a follow-up I did a couple of weeks ago, the ban on fortune-telling in the City of Alexandria, Louisiana has definitely been struck down.

Last week, U.S. District Judge Dee Drell concurred with the earlier opinion of U.S. Magistrate James D. Kirk that Alexandria’s ban was an unconstitutional violation of the right of free speech.

According to nola.com and the Associated Press, Drell commented in his ruling that,

“We also note with interest that the ‘art’ of fortune telling proliferates in front of St Louis Cathedral, in the City of New Orleans, apparently without incident.”

I think that Alexandria will find that they’re safe too.

#14 – Temperance

This is a great day to even things out. Balance and temperance are the energies surrounding you now. Can you bring your physical world into harmony with your emotional state?

Temperance is about that perfect mix, neither too much nor too little. It’s about becoming conscious of what you want to be both inside and out, and courageous enough to try.

You are responsible for any healing you might need. The first step is to acknowledge what might be out of balance and then start readjusting.

Sometimes it’s about finding a new way to meld your internal opposites; sometimes it’s about casting out what no longer works. In all cases though, it’s about being true to your self and connecting to the grander universe.

Try asking an angel for some help today. You might be surprised at the result.
