It’s Tarot Intensive night on Beyond Worlds! And tonight we’ll be looking at the masculine 3s – the 3 of Wands and the 3 of Swords.
3 of Swords
Fire and air, virtue and sorrow, gestation and release. These are pretty powerful cards and worthy of some serious exploration.
And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing with the Beyond Worlds’ panel of experts.
We’ll be looking closely at each card – it’s number, element, astrological connection, mythological associations, how it plays in a reading both upright and reverse, and much, much more.

And if you miss the live show, don’t worry – it’s always available in archive.
Compassion, emotional strength and mature love are key energies today. The King of Cups understands well the joys and sacrifices involved in relationships of all kinds.
Concern yourself with how others are feeling, what they need for support and how you might help. Through concern for the needs of others you might unexpectedly fulfill your own.
And if you know you’re needing some assistance yourself but have been afraid to ask – get over it. Emotional generosity and support are there if you’re willing to let someone help. But they have to know you need the help before they can offer it.
Now here’s something new to do with cards. When you’re tired of just reading with them, or using them to play bridge, why not use them to slice your veggies?
Ye Tongxin from Nanjing in east China’s Jiangsu Province is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for slicing vegetables with playing cards.
His vegetable of choice is the cucumber, or towel gourd.
Ye Tongxin is quite amazing really. Take a look at him in action in the video below. He’s been training for ten years, about two hours a day.
His top speed to date has been slicing 12 cucumbers in 47.2 seconds. To beat the world record though, he needs to cut 18 in 60 seconds.
I wish him luck, but what a crazy thing to be doing!
The Moon moves into Virgo today and will be there until Monday.
From a Tarot perspective, you might think of this transit as the High Priestess wearing the Hermit’s clothes. She’s putting on her cowl.
The Moon in Virgo, or High Priestess in the Hermit’s clothing, is a time for practical, quiet reflection. Seeking the advice of an expert, and listening carefully to what they have to say could be worthwhile.
Or maybe someone will be asking you for your advice.
Your home is more important now than the outside world. Start thinking how to make it more practical. You might not be ready to do the work just yet, but this is a great time to plan.
Emotionally, it’s a time of calm. Perfect for listening and reflecting rather than acting out in passion. Take your time. There’s no rush.
Study, organization, contemplation, solitude, emotional self-reflection. Don’t be afraid to be alone right now. There’s lot’s to do on your own.
Get down to work. Nothing exciting going on, except maybe the chance to get more done than you thought you would.
Follow the template and don’t worry about being particularly innovative today. It’s probably more important to just get it done.
To motivate yourself try remembering that what you’re working on now is setting you up for your future. Put in the effort and it’ll ultimately pay off.
Just the other day I posted about the possible benefits of ‘magical thinking’. Today, with the help of Jason Silva, it’s a post about the benefits of being awed.
In Silva’s video below called The Biological Advantage of Being Awestruck, he lays out a good case for letting ourselves be dazzled by the universe around us.
And though it has nothing to do with Tarot, or anything at all magical, I wanted to post it here anyway.
Looking at the universe the way we can now is as mystical an experience as there could possibly be. You don’t need cards or chants or complicated rituals to touch the divine.
Just contemplate the pictures that our spaceships are sending back. They truly are awesome.
Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today. You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.
This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far. Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.
Virtue is likely to be a key concept. Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.
Are your emotions in line with your thinking? Are you acting in a way that accurately reflects you’re beliefs and feelings? Explore these questions and relax. Your ship will arrive soon.
There are more than a few curse words thrown around in the video below by SkitBox.
And I want to clearly state at the outset that the actions depicted by the Tarot reader in Shit Psychic and the Unsatisfied Customer are unacceptable and should be actively discouraged.
Today you might find yourself simply working and waiting. You’ve been trying hard but it probably feels like there’s little to show for it. Keep your chin up! You are actively creating change in your life, but it takes time.
Try not to get down on yourself while the process continues. Commitment means sticking through the dull, tough times to reach your goal. You’re well on your way and it would be a shame not to keep going. In fact, the hardest part now is not to give up for fear of failure.
There’s still work ahead, but you’re going in the right direction. Keep plugging away and you will succeed.
It’s still early yet, but if you’re a Tarot enthusiast planning on being anywhere near Warrington, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 27th, take a look at this …
