This is the third incarnation of his Shuffle Up & Deal series of playing card decks, and as with the other two, Lacharite has gathered 53 different Canadian artists to design one card each.
What’s a little different about this project though, is the audio aspect. Not only will a visual artist be connected to a particular card, but one of 53 Canadian bands will as well.
Spiritual questions and tradition are highlighted during this period. It’s probably important to you now to look carefully at the spiritual structures in your life. Why do you believe what you do? Who are your spiritual authorities and what gives them their legitimacy? Who decides issues of morality for you, your family and/or your community?
Many of these questions are answered with cultural traditions. Today, you’ll probably be examining whether or not the answers you’re accustomed to are still satisfactory. They might be or they might not be. Don’t be afraid to seek out your truth simply because it rubs against your comfort zone. Sometimes growth hurts a bit.
You might be asked to judge someone else’s dispute, or find the need to go to an authority for answers yourself. Keep your mind open, but your skepticism on. Ultimately, you’re the only one who can decide whether something makes sense for your life or not.
Last week, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for Mount Carmel, Tennessee approved on first reading a new ordinance requiring background checks for anyone wishing to do psychic business in town.
According to Jeff Bobo of TimesNews.net, the new ordinance specifically focuses on “clairvoyants, hypnotists, spiritualists, palmists, phrenologists and handwriting analysts for the purpose of fortune-telling.”
In order to open a psychic business, the new rules require an applicant and their employees to first undergo a fingerprinting background check.
No one who is presently charged with, or has been convicted in the last ten years, of “felonies or misdemeanors involving assault, theft, extortion, fraud, bribery, false personage, perjury or gambling” will be eligible for a fortune-teller permit.
I understand that the people of Mount Carmel want to protect themselves from frauds, etc., but I wonder what prompted Karen Combs, the Kingsport principal planner who proposed the new rules, to take such a strong proactive stand against ‘fortune-tellers’ in particular.
Do they pose such a singular threat?
If the town needs to beef up their anti-assault, theft, extortion, fraud, bribery, false personage, perjury or gambling laws in general, they should. But focusing specifically on psychic readers seems odd, especially since there are none presently working in Mount Carmel, a town of about 5,500 people.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider the second and final reading of this ordinance at the end of June.
Today it might seem like you’ve got it all, and yet there’s still something missing. Emotionally, you’ve got plenty of support. People around you love you and you love them back. Despite it all though, there’s a nagging feeling that it’s just not enough.
Perhaps you’re fantasizing about a new love, a new friend, or at a new spark to make what you’ve already got even more special.
