Moon in Leo – High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

The High Priestess in Strength's Clothing

High Priestess as Strength

The Moon moves into Leo today and stays there until Tuesday.

Translated into Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is wearing Strength’s clothing. She’s thrown off her heavy cape and is spending some time outside with her lion.

The Moon in Leo, or High Priestess in Strength’s clothing is potentially a time of emotional power. Something beautiful that’s usually under wraps can finally be revealed.

The silence is broken. Quiet wisdom and passion can be united. During this time, it might be difficult to keep your ideas to yourself. But why should you?

Try finding an outlet for plans you’ve been sitting on? This is an opportunity to shine if you’re not over-burdened by self-consciousness.

It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but letting your wilder side out right now could be positive. The sun isn’t always shining. Take advantage of it when it does.

#3 – The Empress

Creation and the celebration of the senses are highlighted today.  Art, food, music – anything that inspires our physical and emotional selves will inspire you and be well worth the time.

Nurture yourself and others.  It’ll probably be hard not to.  Nurturance isn’t just a luxury.  You need to maintain and even increase your strength in order to create what you’ve been working on. Eat delicious, healthy foods, surround yourself with beauty, take warm, aromatic baths . . . it’s all part of the Empress’ path to creation.

If you’ve been dealing with issues surrounding motherhood, women, or femininity in general, this would be a great day to take a closer look.  There’s wonderful energy now to help you resolve issues you might have thought irresolvable.

Ernst Haeckel and the World Riddle

October 25th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

The other day, after watching an episode of the TV show, Closer To Truth, I asked my Science Tarot “Is the Universe ‘about’ something?”

The card I got was the Queen of Swords, Ernst Haeckel, Storyteller.

Ernst Haeckel and von Miclucho-Maclay_1866

Exploring the World Riddle

Ernst Haeckel was an artist, philosopher, and biologist largely known for his illustrations of animal, plant and microscopic life.

His work helped in explaining Darwin’s theory of evolution to the general public, and he’s credited with discovering, describing, and naming thousands of new species.

According to Wikipedia, his philosophical text, The Riddle of the Universe, from 1901, is the genesis for the term world riddle, which of course is a phrase describing the exploration of the very nature of the universe and the meaning of life.

How perfect – that’s exactly what I was asking about … the big riddle.

Though I doubt that the cards were telling me that Haeckel’s theories explain all the cosmic secrets, I do think they were letting me know that the riddle is worth exploring.

Science, art, philosophy … my beloved Tarot – all can help us in our quest to understand. And like Haeckel, all of us can be storytellers along the way.

I guess the answer to my question, “is the Universe ‘about’ something?” is to just keep looking.

A few days after pulling the Ernst Haeckel Tarot card, I unexpectedly came across this video called Life Forms by Thomas Lelouch and Antoine Presles. It’s a tribute to Ernst Haeckel. Nice.

You’ve been working hard and the people that matter are starting to take notice.  Take pride in doing a good job.

You’re becoming a master at your trade, and mastery requires not only technical skill, but also an appreciation for the art in what you do.

When you care about your job or the tasks you’ve taken on, the work involved is rarely a chore.  Look at your tasks as the creative processes they are.

Whatever you’re doing, you’re creating something, bringing something new into the world.  Consider your role as creator with the seriousness it deserves.

You’re becoming very good at what you’ve been working hard on.  Congratulations, keep it up.

Moon in Cancer – High Priestess Dressed as the Charioteer

The High Priestess dressed as the Chariot

The Moon moves into Cancer today, and stays there until Saturday.

Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, you might describe it as the High Priestess dressed in the clothing of the Charioteer. She’s left the safety of her pillars and veil, and has hit the road.

The Moon in Cancer, or the High Priestess dressed as the Charioteer, can be a powerful time of comfortable change and emotional resilience.

Knowledge gathered in silence has coalesced and it’s time to share without fear of being hurt.

Emotional loyalty, intuitive direction and strength of character can give you the resolve to go forward. Even into the unknown.

Try not to coddle yourself. You can only win if you have the courage to play to the end.

Queen of Cups from Georgie's Tarot

Queen of Cups

Queen of Cups

She was just here on Saturday, but the Queen of Cups is back! …

The energy today is full of nurturance and love.  Let yourself give and receive.  Share your feelings, your dreams and what it is that makes you human.  Let your imagination run away with you (while holding on to reality if you can).

The Queen of Cups loves romance and laughter and beauty in all its forms.  Take a leap into your emotional depths.  Don’t be afraid, you won’t stay under too long.  This Queen understands emotional limits – how to push them and how to pull them back gently without hurting anyone’s feelings.

Today would be a great day to enjoy the company of loved ones. Or call or write them – one way or another, be sure they know you care.

Sun in Scorpio – Sun in Death's Clothing

Sun in Scorpio, Sun Dressed in Death's Clothing

Sun Dressed As Death

The Sun moves into Scorpio today and will be there until November 22nd.

If you look at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it would be like the Sun is dressed in Death’s clothing. He’s still on his horse, but he’s much more armoured than usual.

The Sun in Scorpio, or the Sun dressed in Death’s clothing, is a period that highlights change, quite literally lighting it up.

It’s a great time to bring clarity to issues usually too deep or dark to properly understand.

What you see might not always be pretty, but it could be a powerful motivator.

Dig on into the muck and don’t be afraid to get dirty. Play around even, the dark can be as fun as the light.

2 of Swords

This is a day to take your time and think things through – calmly and quietly. Trust your inner voice and let silence be your friend. There’s probably a lot of emotion behind your thoughts these days. Try to keep balance.

Make sure you’re not overthinking things. It’s all about listening to both your logic and your intuition. Both have something to say to you right now. Try not to let your emotions sweep you away or your thoughts crush you down. You’ll know what to do when you need to do it. No need to act right now, just sit.

Mental peace is the energy you’ll discover in your quietude. Keep still. Keep calm. Your thoughts may be heavy, but you’re more than strong enough to hold them.

Psychic Barber

October 22nd, 2013 § 1 comment § permalink

Well this is interesting … a Psychic Barber.

Actually, it’s a Psychic Barber Live Art Installation Piece created by Finishing School, Jean Robison, and Yucef Merhi.

The collective was first inspired last year when they came across a neon sign that said ‘Psychic Barber’, and later by a visit to a psychic for a reading.

Both experiences led directly to their Side Street Projects’ “participatory architectural form constructed on the site of a razed barbershop”.

As you can see in the video below, within the ‘architectural form’, psychic barbers give free readings and new hairstyles to interested participants.

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, the Psychic Barber can be found at 730 North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, on a 25,000 square foot “vacant lot in-between Church’s Fried Chicken & an abandoned Victorian house that is slated for development.”

The show runs until November 9th, but plans to go on the road in the near future.

6 of Cups

It’s a wonderful day to say thank you – to your family, friends, and even your enemies.

Nostalgia and happy memories might fill your head and it’s worth remembering all the love there is around you.  Take pleasure in acknowledging it and grateful to extend it further.

Giving and receiving are two sides of the same joy.  Take pleasure in both and don’t be shy to tell people how much they mean to you.   You’ll probably be surprised by how much they love you back.

With close relationships, this is an especially important time to remember the history and strength of your time together. It’s these ties that have helped you through your most serious moments – both good and bad.

Don’t take them lightly, close friends really are special, and not as common as you might think.
