Prince of Cups

You’ll probably be feeling quite loving today.  Emotions are open and flowing and you’re getting along with everyone.

People will likely find you even more attractive than usual, and you them.  But don’t confuse that with getting serious.

Emotions may have been high lately, or at least all over the place. You might find yourself thinking a lot about what in life (and love) truly makes you happy.

It’s a good time to think about it. But don’t worry, there’s no need to make any firm commitments right now.  Just look around you and experience what life has to offer.

You’re in the process of building a new emotional maturity. Enjoy and play friendly.

Continuing on with the creativity theme (see: Sakki-Sakki Tarot Review and The Creativity Spread), for today’s pull from Georgie’s Magic Card Collection, we have the Muse Tarot by Chris-Anne. It was published in 2020 by Hay House.

6 Points About This Deck

1. Artwork: The images in the Muse Tarot are vibrant, very pretty, and boldly feminine. There are no borders on these cards, leaving more space for the dynamic collage-style imagery.
2. Gender Theme: There’s no doubt that this is a woman-centric deck … men, of course, can use it, but it’s definitely aimed toward the feminine.
3. Kings: The Muse Tarot replaces the four King cards with four Muses. These Muse cards are all horizontally oriented. By being different than the other Court Cards, the side-ways orientation seems to give the Muse cards a little more authority when they show up in a spread … but maybe that’s just me.
4. Suits: Instead of Cups, Swords, Wands, and Pentacles, the Muse Tarot has the suits of Emotions, Voices, Inspiration, and Materials.
5. Readability: Though the images in this deck are absolutely unique and inspire their own story-lines, ultimately, the Muse Tarot follows a Golden Dawn/RWS structure familiar to many readers. If in doubt though, the rather thorough instruction booklet should help you along.
6. Random Stuff: The box is great, the backs of the cards are as pretty as the fronts, and the cards are of hearty stock. All around, it’s a beautiful deck.

#0 – The Fool

This is a great day to take the leap and do something different.  It might seem crazy and you have no idea how it’s going to turn out, or maybe even how you got on this path in the first place, but here you are.  It’s time to make your move and do so without fear.

The Fool card isn’t telling you to be an idiot, but rather to stop double thinking yourself all the time and worrying that every single thing is in order before you can make a move.

Life isn’t really that logical.  There’s no way to prepare for all eventualities, no matter how smart you are.  Do what you can and let the universe take care of the bigger story.

The moon moves into Scorpio today and stays there until Tuesday.

If you translate this transit into the Tarot, you could say that the High Priestess is dressed as Death. She’s in the midst of a great transformation.

The Moon in Scorpio, or High Priestess in Death’s clothing, suggests a time when feelings run deep. The ability to end relationships that don’t work, or release stagnant emotions is accentuated.

If there’s a situation in your life that’s nearing its completion, especially if it’s emotional or relationship-oriented, this might be a good time to let it go. At least explore it with emotional clarity.

This isn’t a time to be afraid, but rather a time to face your fears with equanimity and intelligence.

You’ve got what it takes. Don’t back down from the scary stuff.

King of Cups

Compassion, emotional strength and mature love are key energies today.  The King of Cups understands well the joys and sacrifices involved in relationships of all kinds.

Concern yourself with how others are feeling, what they need for support and how you might help.  Through concern for the needs of others you might unexpectedly fulfill your own.

And if you know you’re needing some assistance yourself but have been afraid to ask – get over it.  Emotional generosity and support are there if you’re willing to let someone help.  But they have to know you need the help before they can offer it.

If you’ve just gotten yourself a new Tarot deck, and want to learn a little about it, try out this quick five-card Deck Personality Spread …

1. What does this deck [but use its name] especially like to talk about?
2. How does it like to communicate?
3. What emotional tone can I expect from it?
4. How does it inspire?
5. How can I get the best practical advice from it?

If you noticed that these five questions seem to roughly reflect the Major Arcana, and the four suits of the Minor, you were right, that’s exactly what they’re meant to do.

I used to do this spread all the time when I’d get a new deck, but forgot about it until recently when I was playing with my first new set of cards in a while.

Of course you can read your cards whether you check in with their personality or not, but it’s a fun spread to try as you get to know a new deck.

It starts a conversation, giving you a chance to learn the deck’s language before diving into questions that might matter to you more.

Prince of Swords

It’s a day of dynamic action.  You know what you want to do, you know what you need to do and you probably know how to do it.  Just go ahead and make it happen.  Your mind’s working overtime and at lightning speed.  Flow with this powerful energy and charge towards you goals.

You might find it difficult to focus on just one issue. Two or three different ideas or projects are dragging you every which way.  Don’t worry.   Do what you can and focus on what’s in front of you when it’s in front of you.  Reign your mind in. One thing at a time and it will all get done.

The Moon moves into Libra today, and will stay there until Saturday.

Looking at this transit through the lens of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing Justice’s clothing. She takes on the mantle of the Karmic Decider.

With the High Priestess as Justice, or the Moon in Libra, we might be required to face up to something and decide.

Our emotions will demand respect. If we’ve leaned too far back or forward, we’ll probably find ourselves moving just as dramatically the other way.

It can be a slightly challenging period, perhaps a little manic. But by the time it’s done, something is likely to have been decided upon.

Don’t be alarmed by conflicting emotions. They’re there because you can see both sides. It’s not good enough though to just acknowledge them and walk away.

During this transit you’re being asked to take a stand one way or another. And you’ve got the wisdom and power to do so.

#20 – Judgement

Most likely, this is an important time.  You’re probably coming to the end of a long phase and are in the process of review.

Judgment might be a heavy word to use, but that’s likely the situation – you’re judging yourself and your progress to date.  How do you rate yourself?  How are you rating others?   Where do you want to go next?

There’s a strong element of resurrection in this energy.  As the phase you’re in comes to a close, you ready yourself for rebirth.  Listen carefully to what your soul is trying to tell you. What have you learned through these last years? What might you want to try again? What might you want to let go of? The big question is how might you be even more alive going forward?

Enjoy this time for what it is, though it might feel confusing and even a little anxiety-ridden. Soon there will be movement. Take a good look at your past, a good look at your present and envision what you want to do next. What do you want your life to be like tomorrow? It’s up to you to make it happen.

Having trouble reading for yourself, but less, or no trouble reading for others? If so, next time you do a self-reading, try throwing your cards, then describing them out loud, just as you would if you were reading for someone else.

When we just quietly scan cards, it can be easy to jump from one thought to the next with no unifying thread. Speaking out loud slows us down, allowing us to start formulating a narrative (or more specifically, the answer to our query) that could be easy to miss if we’re just hopping from one image to another in our minds.
