Psychic Barber

Well this is interesting … a Psychic Barber.

Actually, it’s a Psychic Barber Live Art Installation Piece created by Finishing School, Jean Robison, and Yucef Merhi.

The collective was first inspired last year when they came across a neon sign that said ‘Psychic Barber’, and later by a visit to a psychic for a reading.

Both experiences led directly to their Side Street Projects’ “participatory architectural form constructed on the site of a razed barbershop”.

As you can see in the video below, within the ‘architectural form’, psychic barbers give free readings and new hairstyles to interested participants.

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, the Psychic Barber can be found at 730 North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, on a 25,000 square foot “vacant lot in-between Church’s Fried Chicken & an abandoned Victorian house that is slated for development.”

The show runs until November 9th, but plans to go on the road in the near future.
