#7 – The Chariot

Today you’ll likely see some movement. The Chariot is the card of change, the card that takes you places.  Having finally determined the direction you’d like to go, now is the time to get cracking and go there.

Changing jobs, moving house or some sort of travel are the larger manifestations of the Chariot energy.  Sometimes though, it might bring no more than a strong desire to redecorate your living room or go for a long drive.

However it plays out, try not to give up if the going gets a little tough.  More often then not, just sticking it out and playing for real is all it takes to ensure victory.  You’ve come this far already, why would you give up now?

Two New Tarot Deck Projects

March 22nd, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

If you like photo decks and are interested in supporting the creation of one or two new ones, Kickstarter has a couple of projects going on right now that you might like.

Michelle Kelly has created 22 Major Arcana cards for her new deck which she describes as a ‘Journey on the Evolution of Becoming.”

The cards are stunning photo montage images, dreamy and very real at the same time.

Also creating a new deck is Robert Scott from New York City. He’s working on The Urban Tarot, which features Tarot archetypes as they’re found in the city environment.

Both decks look like they’re going to be really nice. I hope the artists are able to raise the funding they’re looking for.

If you’d like to know more, and to see some of the cards, visit their Kickstarter pages, and/or watch the videos below.

Moon in Aries – High Priestess in the Emperor's Clothing

High Priestess dressed as the Emperor

High Priestess dressed as Emperor

The Moon moves into Aries today and will stay there until Saturday.

Translating this transit into Tarot Cards, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing the Emperor’s clothing. She’s in scarlet and armor and is ready for battle.

The Moon in Aries, or High Priestess in the clothing of the Emperor, is a time of intensified emotions. You might feel an increased desire to shape your own world.

Rather than sitting back in stillness, this transit encourages the loosening of emotional restrictions and the conscious expression of enthusiasm and/or passion.

It might be uncomfortable at first, but allow yourself to speak out loud. Take steps forward to let people know what you know and what you love.

Try to remain objective and open-minded while acting with determination and direction. It might sound impossible, but you can do both if you try.

Queen of Cups from Georgie's Tarot

Queen of Cups

Queen of Cups

The energy today is full of nurturance and love.  Let yourself give and receive.  Share your feelings, your dreams and what it is that makes you human.  Let your imagination run away with you (while holding on to reality if you can).

The Queen of Cups loves romance and laughter and beauty in all its forms.  Take a leap into your emotional depths.  Don’t be afraid, you won’t stay under too long.  This Queen understands emotional limits – how to push them and how to pull them back gently without hurting anyone’s feelings.

Today would be a great day to enjoy the company of loved ones. Or call or write them – one way or another, be sure they know you care.

Tarot Month in Portugal

March 21st, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Watch the video below to see João Caldeira interview Rachel Pollack about Tarot, art, the spirit, and the House of Tarot’s upcoming month long Tarot festivities.

May is the House of Tarot Lisbon’s Tarot International Month and they’ll be celebrating across Portugal with Tarot art shows, lectures, and a conference in Lisbon from May 17th through the 20th.

But if you aren’t able to make it to Portugal, there’s still a chance to participate through on-line video feeds and skype workshops.

It’s sounds pretty amazing. Tarot has really stepped up to the technological frontier.

But as great as it will be to take part from my living room, I still wish I could be there in person.

3 of Cups

Celebrate with enthusiasm!  Today is for fun and sharing. Friends are at the forefront, especially the ladies in your life.

Good times, good friends, good drink – it could be a pretty excellent day.  Don’t be afraid to be happy and remember to let people know how much you like them.

Take delight in music, poetry, painting – this is a time of inspiration and creativity.  Social interaction with others will be invigorating and fruitful.

Let yourself get carried away by laughter and joy.  Seek out the beautiful within yourself and those around you.  You won’t be disappointed if you do.

Sun in Aries – the Sun in the Emperor's Clothing

March 20th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Sun in Aries, the Sun Dressed as the Emperor

the Sun as the Emperor

The Sun moves into Aries today and will stay there until April 19th.

From a Tarot perspective, it would be like the Sun is wearing the Emperor’s clothing. His scarlet flag is now his robe, and he’s left his horse for the throne.

The Sun is happy, open, and completely unfettered. He rides naked and free beyond the wall.

He’s not concerned with conventions or mysteries, he wants everything to be clear and bright. It’s been dark long enough and he’s almost home.

He might be little, but the Sun’s been everywhere and done it all. There’s nothing left to conquer, now he just wants to celebrate.

The Emperor on the other hand is interested in getting down to business. He’s got an agenda and he’s going to make it happen.

He’s a man of strength, authority, and raw power. He’s the seasoned warrior who’s never lost a battle.

The Emperor takes action, manifesting his will with determination and certainty. Courageous to a fault, he doesn’t back down.

The Sun is fearless as well, and totally game to take on the role of the Emperor for a while. He might even bring some fun to the position.

The Sun in Aries, or the Sun wearing the Emperor’s clothing, is a time of fiery energy and exciting potential.

There’s new enthusiasm in the air, and you’re likely to be feeling motivated to start fresh and do things you’ve only been thinking about till now.

Mark out your territory and create the empire you’ve been dreaming of. But keep it transparent and as playful as possible, you don’t want to be a tyrant.

Take charge of yourself and make your world great. Let others do the same in their own way.

Moon in Pisces – High Priestess in the Moon's Clothing

March 20th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

High Priestess dressed in the moon's clothing

The Moon moves into Pisces today, and stays there until Thursday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon.

She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.

The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.

During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.

Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.

Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

Prince of Swords

It’s a day of dynamic action.  You know what you want to do, you know what you need to do and you probably know how to do it.  Just go ahead and make it happen.  Your mind’s working overtime and at lightning speed.  Flow with this powerful energy and charge towards you goals.

You might find it difficult to focus on just one issue. Two or three different ideas or projects are dragging you every which way.  Don’t worry.   Do what you can and focus on what’s in front of you when it’s in front of you.  Reign your mind in. One thing at a time and it will all get done.

And as always – remember to play nice.

The High Priestess and the Formation of the Moon

March 19th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

#2 The High Priestess from the Smith Waite Tarot

The Moon might seem silent now, but there’s been billions of years of activity that’s made it what it is. 4.5 billion to be more precise.

In Tarot, the Moon is represented by the High Priestess, and like the celestial body she’s associated with, she has a heart of fire and one heck of an outer armour.

She doesn’t tell you unless you ask, but it’s taken her years to attain the wisdom she presently sits with. Her silence is full.

Take a look at the NASA video below depicting the formation of Earth’s closest celestial neighbour.

These days, the Moon might spend most of its time quietly reflecting, but it wasn’t always that way.
