‘Fortune-telling’ might soon be legal in Selma, California.
Selma City Council will hold a public meeting today to discuss rescinding the present ban on psychic businesses. If they decide to drop the ban, new laws will be established to regulate such businesses.
Recommendations include criminal background checks for psychic readers seeking a business license, and zoning bylaws to restrict where psychic businesses can set up shop.
The present ban has been in place since 1979. A similar ban in nearby Azusa, California was struck down as unconstitutional in 1985.

High Priestess as Temperance
The Moon moves into Sagittarius today and will be there until Wednesday.
Looking at it through the eyes of the Tarot, you can describe this transit as being like the High Priestess wearing Temperance’s clothing. She’s dressed like an angel.
The Moon in Sagittarius, or High Priestess in Temperance’s clothing, indicates a time when intellect, practicality, emotions and passion can work together in relative ease.
What’s normally only an idea might find its way to becoming real. Even-tempered inspiration and emotional playfulness can create what look like miracles.

It looks like it’ll be a sweet day. Open communication full of love and tenderness. This is a day to make sure you tell the people you love how much they mean to you.
If you’re starting a romantic relationship, or in one, it can be especially delicious. Be romantic and enjoy each other. It’s a time of beauty, peace and innocence, the reason we love love so much.
If you’re not feeling romantic, take the energy and let yourself simply express how much you care about those around you.
It will be most powerful if you tell them one-to-one. Let them know they’re special, it’ll make you feel great too.

Last summer I wrote about Ricardo Olvera’s Bone Tarot art show in Reno, Nevada.
To construct his sculptural deck, Olvera assembled animal bones and other found objects to create twenty-two Major Arcana pieces. The result was spectacular.
And though the use of bones brings death to the fore in this series, each piece is very much alive, and clearly inspired by the Tarot.
I’d hoped that maybe Olvera would decide to print a deck from his sculptures, but apparently that’s not to be.
Almost as good though is the book he’s put together cataloging the show. It’s absolutely gorgeous – beautiful photos, fabulous layout. Each piece really shines.
You can see the whole book on-line for yourself. Take a look, and maybe even order one. It’s definitely on my wish list.

Gather and celebrate! It’s a day to enjoy what you’ve been working on. The project might not yet be finished, but at least you’re on your way. Well done! You have reason to smile.
Follow your passion and create from the heart. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how it will all turn out, just keep at it. The hard work’s been paying off, and you can take a moment to enjoy before heading on to the next step.
But don’t forget, you probably aren’t doing all the work yourself. Share the glory or you’ll be hearing about it later.

There’s a new library in Washington, D.C., and for the magically inclined, it’s pretty exciting.
In mid-April, the Open Hearth Foundation (OHF) illuminated the stacks for first time at the official launch of their OHF Pagan Library.
It’s one of the first Pagan libraries in the US to make their collection available to the public.
And though it’s brand new, the collection is already significant. They have over 3,000 titles, 250 Tarot decks, and 40 different periodical and newsletter series.
It’s open to the public for browsing on Sundays from 1-5, and books can be borrowed for 28 days. The Tarot cards and periodicals can be used in-house.
And if you’d like to browse before you visit, or just browse for the fun of it, the full catalogue is online.
The library also plans to add public domain eBooks to their collection soon, focusing especially on ceremonial magic, lodge works, and medieval texts.

The moon moves into Scorpio today and stays there until Monday.
If you translate this transit into the Tarot, you could say that the High Priestess is dressed as Death. She’s in the midst of a great transformation.
The Moon in Scorpio, or High Priestess in Death’s clothing, suggests a time when feelings run deep. The ability to end relationships that don’t work, or release stagnant emotions is accentuated.
If there’s a situation in your life that’s nearing its completion, especially if it’s emotional or relationship-oriented, this might be a good time to let it go. At least explore it with emotional clarity.
This isn’t a time to be afraid, but rather a time to face your fears with equanimity and intelligence.
You’ve got what it takes. Don’t back down from the scary stuff.

There’s so much to do right now you probably feel you can’t keep up. Don’t worry – you can.
Just keep things in motion and try to stay focused on whatever task you’re working on at each particular moment. You’ve got more than enough energy for everything right now, try not to give up.
Emotionally things might get a little hairy, but as with your work, you’re more than able to cope.
The changes going on in your life right now are good ones. You’ve put them into motion yourself and you’ll be just fine.

Tarot Professionals has entered the Tarot Conference scene in North America with their first ever Tarosophy TarotCon 2012.
It’s going to be held in Dallas, Texas October 19th-21st.
The line up is pretty incredible – Barbara Moore, Robert M. Place, Ellen Lorenzi-Prince, Bob O’Neil, Carrie Paris, and of course Marcus Katz, founder of Tarot Professionals and Tarot-Town.
In addition to the headline speakers, there’ll also be evening workshops available with luminaries the likes of Mary K. Greer, Enrique Enriquez, Katrina Wynn, and many more.
Dan Donche of the Inappropriate Tarot will be the guest M.C., and Toronto’s own James Wells will be an after-dinner speaker.
