#0 – The Fool

This is a great day to take the leap and do something different.  It might seem crazy and you have no idea how it’s going to turn out, or maybe even how you got on this path in the first place, but here you are.  It’s time to make your move and do so without fear.

The Fool card isn’t telling you to be an idiot, but rather to stop double thinking yourself all the time and worrying that every single thing is in order before you can make a move.

Life isn’t really that logical.  There’s no way to prepare for all eventualities, no matter how smart you are.  Do what you can and let the universe take care of the bigger story.

Moon in Taurus – High Priestess in the Hierophant's Clothing

The High Priestess dressed as the Hierophant

High Priestess in Hierophant's Clothes

The Moon moves into Taurus today and stays there until Sunday.

If you look at this transit through the eyes of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Hierophant. She’s sitting before two acolytes and sharing the secrets she usually guards.

The Moon in Taurus, or High Priestess in the Hierophant’s clothes, is a time of spiritual and emotional certitude.

There’s a sense that the truth can be explained, understood and incorporated into daily life. Rules can and should be followed.

Instead of trying to force others to recognize what you know to be certain, try using this time to simply share your emotional, intellectual and spiritual perceptions.

Celebrate the diversity of spirit in our world, while figuring out for yourself what rules, spiritual or otherwise, work best for you.

#18 – The Moon

Things might seem a little dark today but don’t despair.  It’s always night before it’s day.  The moon card represents this darkness before dawn.

You might be challenged to face your fears, or at least name them so you can see whether they’re really as powerful as all that.  Things often seem a lot scarier in the dark than they do the next day.

Try taking some time today to really explore those things that you usually shy away from.  Psychic energy is especially strong and it will be well worth your while to find some silence and listen carefully to your inner voice.

Secrets and mystery, hazy half-truths – they’re all part of the moon’s power.  How you feel might prove to be more informative than what you see.   Pay attention to the shadows, it’ll be light soon.

A Very Rare Tarot Deck …

Wheel of Fortune from the Visconti-Sforza Tarot

If you’re a Tarot lover who happens to be in New York City anytime between now and September 8th, head on over to the Morgan Library and Museum.

Their annual summer exhibition of rare items is open now and it includes some incredible pieces.

There’s a draft of George Washington’s inaugural speech, an original manuscript of Noah Webster’s very first dictionary, and Oscar Wilde’s manuscript of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

That’s all amazing stuff, but what I want to see is the Visconti-Sforza Tarot deck they have.

From 1450’s Milan, the cards are the oldest item in the show, not to mention some of the oldest Tarot cards in the world.

Go see them!

4 of Swords

Relax, stay calm and maybe even sleep on it.  There’s been a lot on your mind lately, and some of it has been quite heavy.  You need to slow down and reconnect with yourself.

Meditate on the changes you want in your life.   Figure out where your strengths lie and take that route to your goal.  It wouldn’t hurt to even reconsider the goal.  Are you sure you still want it?

And don’t forget your spirit.  Without it, the mental world can be pretty bleak.  Trust your dreams and keep in touch with your soul.  Make a truce with yourself – life isn’t always a battle.

A new sense of self and perspective on the world are available.  But you have to be quiet and still to find them.  Take today to figure it out.  You’ll be stronger in the long run.

New Restrictions for Psychic Businesses in Selma, California

June 12th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Back in May, Selma, California City Council reviewed a ban on fortune-telling within their city limits that had been in effect since 1979. They decided then to rescind the law, but in its place put new conditions on such businesses.

Last week, council voted to add fourteen new conditions for getting a psychic business license in Selma. As reported by the HanfordSentinal.com, these conditions include:

•zoning bylaws that keep fortune tellers out of the central business district and at least 300 feet from parks, schools, or churches

•age restrictions on clients – you must be 18 or over to get a reading

•neon signage can only be used if it cannot be seen from outside of the business

These rules are in addition to getting a criminal background check. The check is meant to restrict anyone with a criminal record, or persons convicted of civil fraud from getting a license.

It was Stephanie Davis, a local palm-reader wanting to relocate her business to Selma, who opened the issue in the first place.

Her lawyer, Dennis Beaver, has maintained that the original ban was illegal per the constitution, as are some of the new regulations.

Some Selma citizens and council members disagree and are still calling for more restrictions, or a reinstatement of the former ban.

Moon in Aries – High Priestess in the Emperor's Clothing

High Priestess dressed as the Emperor

High Priestess dressed as Emperor

The Moon moves into Aries today and will stay there until Thursday.

Translating this transit into Tarot cards, it would be like the High Priestess is wearing the Emperor’s clothing. She’s in scarlet and armor and is ready for battle.

The Moon in Aries, or High Priestess in the clothing of the Emperor, is a time of intensified emotions. You might feel an increased desire to shape your own world.

Rather than sitting back in stillness, this transit encourages the loosening of emotional restrictions and the conscious expression of enthusiasm and/or passion.

It might be uncomfortable at first, but allow yourself to speak out loud. Take steps forward to let people know what you know and what you love.

Try to remain objective and open-minded while acting with determination and direction. It might sound impossible, but you can do both if you try.

#7 – The Chariot

Today you’ll likely see some movement. The Chariot is the card of change, the card that takes you places.  Having finally determined the direction you’d like to go, now is the time to get cracking and go there.

Changing jobs, moving house or some sort of travel are the larger manifestations of the Chariot energy.  Sometimes though, it might bring no more than a strong desire to redecorate your living room or go for a long drive.

However it plays out, try not to give up if the going gets a little tough.  More often then not, just sticking it out and playing for real is all it takes to ensure victory.  You’ve come this far already, why would you give up now?

Jupiter in Gemini – the Wheel of Fortune Spins the Lovers

Jupiter in Gemini, the Wheel of Fortune Spins the Lovers

the Wheel Spins the Lovers

Jupiter moves into Gemini today and will stay there until June 26, 2013.

From a Tarot perspective, this transit might be described as the Wheel of Fortune spinning the Lovers. From behind the Angel, it turns everything around.

The Wheel of Fortune represents the changing tides. And it clearly illustrates that what goes up must come down, whether we want it to or not.

But where we land might not be the same place we first started. The Wheel points to a new plateau, or a fresh stage in the journey and a chance to access inspiration from places inaccessible till now.

Big shifts are harkened by this card, and often good luck if we’re willing to try something different.

Fortunately, the Lovers are usually receptive to change. They’re open to dialogue and willing to examine the world with clear eyes and naked honesty.

Commitment is a big theme here, commitment to self and to the promises one makes to others.

The Lovers are interested in uniting the opposites and moving forward as one. Harmony is their goal.

The Wheel of Fortune might take the Lovers for an unexpected spin, but they’re up for the challenge and know how to hold on tight.

Jupiter in Gemini, or the Wheel of Fortune spinning the Lovers, is a chance to see the world from a new perspective and with an eye to shaking things up and making them even better.

You might find yourself meeting new people, maybe even some a little different than your usual crowd. And your usual crowd might be shifting up as well.

There’s a chance for a new perspective in all your relationships, even the one you have with yourself.

Be open to new ideas and new ways of looking at things. The important thing is to keep moving and allow the world to evolve.

If you stay true to your spirit, you’ll have no problem staying on track.
