#1 – The Magician

Were you thinking of starting something new? This is the time to do it. The energy of The Magician encourages you to start fresh.

Look around – I bet you have all the tools you need for this new enterprise. It’s only up to you to start making things happen.

Name your goal and start listing the steps you need to get there. Especially important is that first step. It can be big or small – just take it! You’re at the very beginning right now, don’t let the long journey ahead dissuade you from going forward.

You can’t go back, so what the heck? Focus on what it is you want to achieve and you can make anything happen.

Beware though, don’t try fooling yourself or others, there’s no need for deception. It will only lead you down the wrong road right from the start. Stay true to your plan and keep yourself focused.

You can do what you need to without resorting to trickery or lies. It’ll work out much better in the long run if you stick to the truth.

High Priestess in Star’s Clothing

The Moon moves into Aquarius today and stays there until Sunday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Star. In other words, her robes are gone and she’s naked as the bird in the tree behind her.

The Moon in Aquarius, or High Priestess in the Star’s clothing, can sometimes be emotionally stressful. Hope may be in the air, but it’s a cautious hope.

Emotionally you feel like sharing, bubbling over with dreams for the future. But your mind keeps getting in the way, reminding you that dreams can sometimes be nightmares.

Try not to spend what could be a nice time double guessing yourself or listing off all the reasons things could go wrong. They might. But they probably won’t.

Be real, but not a wet blanket. Rather than smothering your dreams, direct them with intelligence.

You have confidence now and boundaries no longer pen you in.  Creativity carries you forward as if in a dream.

Focus your imagination and you can manifest what you will.  Be open, free and alive.

Magician as Temperance

Mercury moves into Sagittarius today and will stay there until December 24th.

Looking at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it’s like the Magician is wearing Temperance’s clothing. His cape has turned into wings and he’s playing with water.

Mercury in Sagittarius, or the Magician in Temperance’s clothing, can be a time of balanced inspiration.

It’s great for expressing ideas that might normally seem too big to consider. Give them some thought, you never know what you’ll come up with.

Issues or situations that seemed impossible to figure out might suddenly come together, as if by divine inspiration.

But really it’s clear vision and a good dose of faith that’s probably at work. Direct it with will and you can make miracles happen.

Get down to work. Nothing exciting going on, except maybe the chance to get more done than you thought you would.

Follow the template and don’t worry about being particularly innovative today. It’s probably more important to just get it done.

To motivate yourself try remembering that what you’re working on now is setting you up for your future. Put in the effort and it’ll ultimately pay off.

If you were to describe this transit using the Tarot, you might say that the High Priestess is wearing the Devil’s clothing. The virginal goddess has gotten downright beastly.

The Moon in Capricorn, or High Priestess in the Devil’s clothing, is a period of potential internal conflict. The physical world might seem to draw you away from what you typically believe to be right.

You might feel driven or compelled by behaviours and attitudes that go against the grain of your morality. It could be liberating or disturbing, depending on your secrets.

The reckoning’s done and it’s finally time to dole out the rewards.  Have you done your fair share?  Are you ready to accept what’s due?

Success is coming to those who have done what they can to manifest their goals.  It may seem like manna from heaven but look again – it’s more likely compensation for a job well done.

And don’t forget to thank those who have been helping you. We’re never alone in either our successes or our failures.

In the video below from SpaceRip, you can see NASA’s Curiosity on its trek across Mars. It’s pretty amazing stuff.

I bring it up here, not because there’s any Tarot in the video, but because there’s a little Mars in Tarot.

In the Golden Dawn system of Tarot, Mars is the planet associated with the Emperor, and in the RWS version of the card, the Emperor is shown sitting on a stone throne in front of some craggy red mountains.

Doesn’t the terrain around him look a lot like the one Curiosity is crossing right now?

I think we’ve finally identified where the Emperor sat for this portrait. He was somewhere on the road to Mt. Sharp.

Waiting and watching will probably be a bit of a preoccupation today.   You’ve begun the process and have done all you can for the moment.

This might be a good time to review the steps you’ve taken so far.  Make sure that you’ve got yourself balanced before the real journey begins.

Virtue is likely to be a key concept.  Virtue here means being true to yourself within and between all your layers – mind, body and spirit.
