Artisans and the Ace of Cups

After a recent holiday in New Brunswick, Ty Burr, a film critic at the Boston Globe, wrote an amusing article detailing some of the more confusing road signs he found on our Canadian highways.

One of the signs featured in his piece especially caught my eye. It was the blue and white sign pictured below meant to indicate that there are ‘Local Artisans Nearby’.

When Burr and his wife saw the sign, they speculated that it meant “Should you happen to die during your visit to Canada, we will ship your remains home in a decorative urn made by one of our many talented local artisans.” Sounds reasonable.

As a Tarot reader, however, I couldn’t help but see the image as an Ace of Cups. Take a look at the RWS version of the card, and I think you’ll see what I mean.
