If you’re someone who likes a little kink with your Tarot and happen to be in the St. Louis area, check out the SavageX II Tarot promo below.
Shameless Grounds, a St. Louis coffee shop with its own ‘adult’ book section, is hosting celebrations for the republication of the Savage Tarot by Michelle X.
It’s a dark and erotic deck, clearly not meant for youngsters, or for those on the prudish side. But for those who like this genre, the images are quite stunning.
The show will open December 15th and include works by seven additional artists inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Righteous Virtues.

Take a look at the video below with Rachel Pollack and João Caldeira from Never Ending Tarot …
In it, they talk about Rachel’s Shining Tribe Tarot, one of my all time favourite decks.

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my favourite magic shops in Toronto is the Hermit’s Lamp, up on Vaughn Road, above St. Clair.
They host art shows and meet-ups, sell magic supplies, offer Tarot and psychic readings, teach workshops, and of course, sell Tarot books and decks.
Typically they’ve got a good assortment of decks and books to choose from, but this coming Saturday, November 10th, the choice is going to be even better.
Apparently, a friend of shop owner Andrew McGregor has decided to sell their personal Tarot collection, and has chosen to do so through the Hermit’s Lamp.
There will be about 120 new, or almost new decks available, and over 200 books.
Some of the decks are quite rare – Tarot of Prague, Shinning Woman Tarot, Giger Tarot, Via Tarot, Alchemical Tarot, Brotherhood Tarot, and many more.
I hope to get over there myself – I’ve always wanted a copy of the Shining Woman Tarot!
All items are first come, first serve, so if you’re interested, get there early. The store will be open from 10:00 am through 6:00 pm.

Since it’s almost Halloween, here’s a scary trick for you …
It’s magician Rich Ferguson doing a head drop prank. He’s really good at it.
He reminds me, in fact, of the Magician from my Toronto Graffiti Tarot who,
“ … regularly demonstrated his skills by cutting off his head and replacing it without harm …”

Here are a couple of more drafts from my cut and paste Tabloid Tarot.
It’s the Tower and the Star … after the shock, a fairy godmother arrives with cake …

My very favourite Halloween deck is the The Halloween Tarot by Kipling West and Karin Lee.
It’s been around since 1996, but I like it as much today as I did when I first got it.
It’s smart, fun, and the little black cat featured in every card looks just like my cat Carl JK.
Since it’s the Halloween weekend, I thought I’d ask The Halloween Tarot how best to enjoy this season of ghouls, goblins, and miniature chocolate bars.
The card I got was the King of Ghosts. Like the King of Cups in the Rider Waite Smith deck, this king sits on a slab of concrete in the middle of a big water.
Unlike the RWS King of Cups though, the King of Ghosts is not alone. He’s got a ghost friend with him, and of course the black cat who seems to be eyeing his fishbone necklace.
This king is about mature emotion, conciliation, and intelligent love. He recognizes what’s important to carry with him from the past, while looking forward with upraised glass to the future.
He’s a mediator, and someone who can be gentle, yet firm, grounded, yet emotionally fluid.
He’s concerned with enjoying life, loving those around him, and in this particular situation, putting on his bat crown, grabbing a mask and hanging out with his friends.
I believe the advice from the The Halloween Tarot is that we all do the same.
Have a happy haunted weekend!

And speaking of Moon Goddesses (which I was doing in yesterday’s post), I thought I’d share a Moon image close to my own heart.
It’s the Moon card illustrated by Ivan Minsloff for our upcoming, but yet-to-be-named Tarot deck.
As you can imagine, I’m rather fond of this image.
Not only is the Moon represented by a Tarot reader and two wonderful dogs, the dog on the reader’s right is my very own angel canine, Stoney Machete.

Here are a few more cards I found on a recent TarotSpotting outing – the Ace of Disks, the Hierophant, and the Devil.
I’m not sure if they’ll end up being part of my Graffiti Tarot or not, but I like them all.
