Ciro Marchetti's Gilded Reverie – Lenormand Grand Tableau Cloth and Cards

January 4th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

Ciro Marchetti’s Lenormand deck has already sold out of its first two printings, but at least according to his website, more copies will be available soon.

The Gilded Reverie Deck is just gorgeous. As with all Marchetti creations, it’s rich, lush, and swimming in magical light. I hope I manage to get a copy myself soon before it’s sold out again.

And if I do, I’d also like to get myself one of the Reverie themed Houses of the Grand Tableau reading cloths. They’re amazing!!

Donnaleigh de LaRose has one already, and in the video below, she lets us see just how fabulous they are.

Take a look …

Yesterday I posted about Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot card #11, Lust.

It made me want to share with you all the Lust/Strength card that Ivan Minsloff and I have created for our new Tarot deck.

Here it is …

Dicecards

December 27th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Though they’re not Tarot cards, these Dicecards look like a lot of fun and could easily be used for divination if one was so inclined.

Designed by Ian Millington, each card of this regular playing card deck features pictures of various game pieces like dice, runes, scrabble tiles, poker chips, dominoes and role-play characters.

Though Millington doesn’t mention ‘reading’ the cards in his long list of what one might do with them, that’s what I would do if I had them.

Take a look at the video below to learn more, and/or visit the Dicecards Kickstarter project page.

Georgie's Tarot is Real!!

December 8th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Carl JK and Georgie's Tarot

I was pretty excited a few weeks ago when I came across a printing company that would print up small batches of cards at very reasonable prices.

Since my Georgie’s Tarot was already laid out and ready to go, I decided to give it a shot and have the deck I drew almost ten years ago finally become ‘real’.

Till now, the only copies I had were hand-made with sticker-paper and re-purposed regular playing cards.

But that’s all changed!! Yay! What a joy to properly shuffle my own cards!

Though I drew them for myself and never meant them for sale (you can download the images for free here), if anyone wants to order a deck, I’d be happy to have one printed up and get it out to you at cost plus shipping.

Georgie's Tarot

That would be about $12 plus however much it would cost to get it to you from Toronto.

The backs of this batch are all just plain pink, but I’m likely to change that up the next time I order.

If you’re interested in getting a copy of Georgie’s Tarot for yourself, send me an email.

And if you have your own deck that you’d like to print ‘for real’ – try out PrintersStudio.ca. I’ve really enjoyed working with them so far.

The Hierophant

December 7th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s another card from the deck that Ivan Minsloff and I have been working on.

It’s the Hierophant – a sunglass-wearing evangelist with a message on his lap and a microphone in his hand.

I’m not sure if we can trust him completely, but I’m impressed with how he seems to glow.

Is it from a divine light within, or just some well-lit stagecraft?

Tarot in Greek

November 22nd, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Have you ever wondered what the cards in the Major Arcana are called in Greek?

I hadn’t even thought about it before I came across this video by Chris379000.

Using Ciro Marchetti’s Gilded Tarot and Antonella Platano’s Witchy Tarot to demonstrate, Chris translates each card from English to Greek and gives us the odd language lesson along the way.

He does it for all the cards in the Lenormand deck as well. Did you know that the word ‘owl’ sounds like ‘kookoobaya’ in Greek?

The Retro Tarot

November 15th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s a sweet Tarot deck in the works … it’s the Retro Tarot by the mother daughter team of Tricia Sawyer and Rebekah Davis.

Though conceptually inspired by the RWS, the Retro Tarot looks quite different. It features black and white photographs from the period between 1910 and 1960.

The images are really nice, and as Sawyer and Davis promise, they seem to be ‘straight-talking and to the point.’

The duo is still finishing up work on the project and are hoping to get the cards to the printers by December.

If you’re interested in supporting the project and signing up for your own copy of the deck, visit the Retro Tarot Kickstarter page to learn more.

Some Tarot in Austin – Nov 17 + 18

November 13th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

If you’re a Tarot enthusiast who happens to be in the Austin, Texas area this coming weekend, why not stop by the White House Ranch studio to see a new deck.

As part of the East Austin Studio Tour, the White House Ranch will open its doors to present Katie Rose Pipkin’s Efflorescent Tarot.

This very pretty illustrated deck is clearly inspired by the Rider Waite Smith Tarot, but definitely has its own style. (you can see all the cards at Pipkin’s website)

All 78 original illustrations will be on display this coming Saturday and Sunday, and copies of the deck in both colour and black and white will be available for purchase.

I love that she’s selling it both ways. I think I’d like one of each.

Georgie's House Tarot

November 11th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Since I found both the 2 of Cups and the 3 of Cups in my home over the last few weeks, I decided to start actively doing some in-house TarotSpotting.

Here’s what I came up with my first run through.

I think it may be the start of what will eventually grow to be – Georgie’s House Tarot
