Back in November, I posted about a Kickstarter project for a circus-themed deck by Doug Thornsjo called Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi. At the time, it was a majors-only deck, but now that’s changed.
Thornsjo has gone ahead and completed all 78 cards and is getting ready to go to print.
Take a look at the video below and/or visit the Zirkus Mägi page to learn more about the project, and to see this absolutely stunning deck.

Pamela Steele, creator of the Steele Wizard Tarot, has done it again, this time with a slightly more whimsical take on the traditional RWS imagery.
Her new deck, the Wizard’s Pets Tarot is adorable. Though the characters in the Minor Arcana might be familiar, the Court Cards and Major Arcana are populated by magical (and very cute) dragons.
You can see the cards in the video below, and/or at the Wizard’s Pets website. And to learn more about Steele’s IndieGoGo campaign, visit her Wizard’s Pets Tarot Project Page.

A few months back, Donnaleigh de LaRose recommended I read Yoav Ben-Dov’s Tarot: The Open Reading. I’m really glad she did, I like it. It talks about the Tarot Marseille, and as might be expected by the title, Yoav Ben-Dov’s ‘Open Reading’ style of using it.
Especially for those readers who might be intimidated by the Marseille deck, I recommend this book. But I think all readers are likely to find it interesting, whether they use the Tarot Marseille or not. With it’s no-rote style of teaching the cards, Ben-Dov’s method can reinvigorate how you look at any deck.
In addition to writing the book, Yoav Ben-Dov has also done his own restoration of the Marseille deck called the CBD Tarot de Marseille. I don’t have a copy of it yet myself, but I definitely want one, and watching Donnaleigh’s video review of it (below) makes me want it even more.

I posted about Robert Place and Rachel Pollack’s Burning Serpent Oracle before, but now there’s a video so I can’t help but post again.
The Burning Serpent Oracle is Place and Pollack’s take on the classic Lenormand deck, a deck not unlike Tarot, but with only 38 cards, and a very standardized (though still quite magical) method of reading.
In the video below, Rachel Pollack talks about the Lenormand deck and its history, as well as how to actually read with it, using The Burning Serpent Oracle to demonstrate.
If you’re interested in ordering a deck of your own, the Burning Serpent Indiegogo campaign is still on until Thursday. Visit the project page to learn more.

Today I’m posting about two Kickstarter projects, both of which are follow-ups of earlier successful projects.
The first is a deck by Nakisha VanderHoeven called Rabbit Tarot. This adorable rabbit themed deck has been so popular, its ready for its third edition.
Take a look at the video below to see all the cards, and visit the Rabbit Tarot project page to learn more. You might even want to get a copy for yourself.
The second project I wanted to mention is The Wooden Tarot by Amy Swartz.
This is a beautiful deck that was first created as a Majors-only. Due to popular demand, however, Swartz was encouraged to do the whole deck and is now putting together all 78 images. They’re quite stunning.
You can see Swartz talk about her deck in the video below, and visit The Wooden Tarot: Full Deck project page to see more of the images.

As some readers know, I’ve been putting together a Virtual Postcard Arcana made up of postcards from the website CardCow.com.
In January I posted a Major Arcana, in February, the Court Cards, in March, the Suit of Wands, and today it’s the Suit of Cups.
I wish I actually owned these postcards, but making the virtual deck is almost as fun.

If you love Tarot and poetry, Two Sylvias Press has a Kickstarter project you might be interested in – The Poet Tarot: A Deck of Creativity.
The Poet Tarot and its companion guidebook are meant to inspire writers and artists of all sorts with their own creative process.
It’s a traditional deck in many ways, with a Major and Minor arcana, but the Majors are filled with famous poets like Emily Dickinson, Yeats and Poe, while the Minors are made up of Muses, Quills, Mentors, and Letterpresses.
Take a look at the video below to see the cards, and visit The Poet Tarot project page to learn more.

Take a look at this fantastic IndieGoGo project! Robert M. Place and Rachel Pollack’s brand new Burning Serpent Oracle!
Two of my favourite Tarot teachers and deck designers have come together to create, not a Tarot deck, but a new set of Lenormand cards.
Place is responsible for the artwork on all forty of these beautiful cards, while Pollack has written the 260 page book that accompanies the deck.
I can hardly wait to get my copy! Go to the Burning Serpent Oracle project page to learn more, and maybe to order a copy for yourself.
