Fans of Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz might be interested in this Tarot Kickstarter project – The Shadow of Oz by Anna and Mark, the Illogical Associates.
As the creators of The Wizard of Oz inspired comic book Dorothy, Anna and Mark seem especially suited to making this deck a reality, and they’ve gathered together a truly impressive group of comic book artists to help them.
Take a look at their video below, and visit The Shadow of Oz project page to learn more.

When Andrew McGregor of The Hermit’s Lamp first released his limited edition Tarot Waiting To Happen deck, he offered people a chance to get themselves drawn as one of the cards.
I asked if I could be drawn with my darling cat Carl JK as the Queen of Wands. Here’s the result! I love it!!

And I really like the deck too. It’s based on the Marseille Tarot, but instead of replicating the traditional images, McGregor imagined what might have happened just before the picture we usually see.
For instance, why is the Hanged Man hanging, and what was Justice doing before heading to court?
You can see all the cards at The Hermit’s Lamp website. I think there might even be a few copies of the deck still available if you’re interested in getting one for yourself.
And just a reminder, if you’re in the Toronto area and think you might want to visit The Hermit’s Lamp in person, please note, they’ve moved to a fabulous new home at 425 Vaughn Road.

I posted about the Hive Tarot V show back in January, but since I wasn’t in Los Angeles, I wasn’t able to actually see it for myself.
Fortunately for me, and those others who missed the show, Daisuke Okamoto posted this video of the event.
Take a look. Some of the images are simply fabulous!

Here’s an interesting Tarot oriented Kickstarter Project … Mysteries of the Arcana, Chapter 5 by James Gray and Keith Wood.
Mysteries of the Arcana is an LGBT-friendly action comic book series based on Tarot’s Major and Minor Arcana, and it looks great.
Four issues have already been published, and you can see them all for free on-line at the Mysteries of the Arcana website. Take a look.
But to learn more about Chapter 5, the Kickstarter campaign supporting it, and the rewards you can get for donating, watch the video below and/or visit the project page.

I got The Wild Unknown Tarot deck by Kim Krans for Christmas this year. It’s really nice!!
I was thinking of doing a review of it myself, but then I saw Donnaleigh de LaRose’s video review. I think she’s already said it well. Take a look.
And if you’re interested in getting yourself a copy the deck, visit The Wild Unknown website to learn more.

Last week, I came across the website cardcow.com. They specialize in buying and selling vintage postcards of all sorts.
Many of the postcards featured on the site are physically available for purchase, but there’s also an option to buy image downloads, or to use them for free on your website (if you use the handy embed code they supply).
I spent some time looking around, and as usual when faced with a multitude of images, I started TarotSpotting. It was a goldmine!!
Below, you’ll find a Major Arcana I put together rather quickly. I found some great images for many of the Minor Arcana as well, but I’ll probably put them together in a future post.
I’d love to purchase these images and make actual cards with them, but for now the Virtual PostCard Arcana is what we’ve got …

The High Priestess

The Empress

The Emperor

The Hierophant

The Lovers

There’s a section of the Tao-Te Ching that says:
“Return is the movement of the Way;
yielding is the function of the Way;
All things in the world are born of being;
Being is born of nonbeing.”
After reading that, I asked the Science Tarot how it might describe this concept.
The card I got was the actively ‘yeilding’ Hanged Man, or as it’s called in the Science Tarot – Potential Energy.
Part of the description for this card is, “The Hanged Man is like a precariously balanced bolder. The stillness and peace of the balance eventually transforms into the movement of kinetic energy.”
Nice.
(the animation of Potential Energy is from horgworm’s youtube page)
