Moon in Pisces – High Priestess in the Moon's Clothing

High Priestess dressed in the moon's clothing

The Moon moves into Pisces today, and stays there until Sunday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon.

She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.

The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.

During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.

Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.

Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

Prince of Swords

It’s a day of dynamic action.  You know what you want to do, you know what you need to do and you probably know how to do it.  Just go ahead and make it happen.  Your mind’s working overtime and at lightning speed.  Flow with this powerful energy and charge towards you goals.

You might find it difficult to focus on just one issue. Two or three different ideas or projects are dragging you every which way.  Don’t worry.   Do what you can and focus on what’s in front of you when it’s in front of you.  Reign your mind in. One thing at a time and it will all get done.

And as always – remember to play nice.

Beer Bottles and the Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups from the Smith Waite Tarot

The video below called Bottle Cap Blues by Chris Sumers is an amusing look at an incredible array of methods men use to open beer bottles.

It’s strait-forward and obvious that the men are just trying to get to their beer. But looking at it from a Tarot perspective, I had a slightly different take.

Ace Bottles from the PoMoTarot by Brian Williams - HarperSanFrancisco

PoMo Tarot

In Tarot, the Suit of Cups represents emotion and love. Its element is water.

The Ace of the suit suggests emotional renewal, innocent joy, and the seeds of compassion and romance.

When I was watching the video I started seeing the beer bottles as symbols for Cups, and from there it wasn’t hard to look at what the men were doing from a more magical perspective.

Beyond just trying to get a drink, metaphorically speaking, these toughies might also have been trying hard to crack that Ace and start down the road of the Suit of Love.

10 of Cups

You feel full up with all the love around you.  In fact, you might even be a little overwhelmed with how much you care and how loved you feel.

This is a happy time to be with your family or friends or whoever it is that makes up your social community.

You’re probably nearing the end of an important emotional phase.  Taking the time now to recognize and be grateful for all you have will help prepare you for the beginning of the next stage of your journey.

Celebrate with your loved ones, remembering with joy and humour all the good and not so good days that brought you to where you are now.

Playing Cards as Tarot

August 1st, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Using regular playing cards for Tarot readings loses the fun of the imagery, and of course eliminates the main aspect of what makes Tarot what it is – the Major Arcana.

But sometimes all you have on hand are playing cards and you still want to do a reading. You can.

It’s just a matter of having a consistent system of converting the suits of the Tarot into those of your standard poker deck.

My typical system of conversion is:

Cups = Hearts

Pentacles = Diamonds

Wands = Clubs

Swords = Spades

Of course, I’m not the only one who uses this system. It’s the one I’ve seen most often.

In fact, it’s the one described in the video below by Nalani of Rebel Tarot. In her clip she colourfully explains an easy way to remember it.

Take a look …

Moon in Aquarius – High Priestess in the Star's Clothing

High Priestess in Star's Clothing

High Priestess in Star’s Clothing

The Moon moves into Aquarius today and stays there until Friday.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Star. In other words, her robes are gone and she’s naked as the bird in the tree behind her.

The Moon in Aquarius, or High Priestess in the Star’s clothing, can sometimes be emotionally stressful. Hope may be in the air, but it’s a cautious hope.

Emotionally you feel like sharing, bubbling over with dreams for the future. But your mind keeps getting in the way, reminding you that dreams can sometimes be nightmares.

Try not to spend what could be a nice time double guessing yourself or listing off all the reasons things could go wrong. They might. But they probably won’t.

Be real, but not a wet blanket. Rather than smothering your dreams, direct them with intelligence.

Page of Swords

It’s a day to dissolve the fog and start looking at things with fresh and honest eyes.  With a commitment to clarity, new ideas and a new sense of authority will be close on the horizon.

Take things in hand and energetically start slicing through any fuzziness you’ve not wanted to look past till now.  Are you happy with what you’re seeing?  If yes – go forward with strength.  If not, figure out what you actually want, re-direct yourself towards it and go forward with strength.

In either case, you need to see things for what they really are before you can intelligently decide what your next step might be.   This is no time to fool yourself.   It’s a time to take charge, be realistic and be strong.
