July 31st, 2024 § Comments Off on Three Things I Really Like about Reading Cards for Others § permalink
After reading cards now for over thirty years, I’d say that there are three things I especially like about reading for others …
•Getting to help people sort through thoughts and emotions when they’re facing a dilemma or crossroads. When you can help – it’s a real thrill.
•Having sincere, heartfelt conversations with people through the cards – all sorts of different people, with all sorts of different perspectives – friends and strangers, they always teach me something.
•Being reminded through the questions we ask, that we humans are all very similar, with the same hopes, fears, and needs. It helps me love people more.
And of course, I also just really like looking at pictures and talking about what they might mean (which I guess makes it four things I especially like.)
Tarot reading for oneself is fabulous, but Tarot reading for others has its own set of joys.

You’ve been working hard and the people that matter are starting to take notice. Take pride in doing a good job.
You’re becoming a master at your trade, and mastery requires not only technical skill, but also an appreciation for the art in what you do.
When you care about your job or the tasks you’ve taken on, the work involved is rarely a chore. Look at your tasks as the creative processes they are.
Whatever you’re doing, you’re creating something, bringing something new into the world. Consider your role as creator with the seriousness it deserve.
July 30th, 2024 § Comments Off on Creativity Spread (or at least some questions about creativity and inspiration) § permalink
This isn’t a formal creativity spread … more like a small group of questions about creativity and getting inspired. They were questions that were coming up for me the other day so I threw some cards and got some insights. Maybe you’ll find them useful too …
•How am I best expressing creativity in my life right now?
•Where is creativity, or inspiration, lacking?
•what might be a remedy for the lack in this area?
•What are two general suggestions for sparking new creative inspiration… pull two cards
•How might I inspire others to tap into their own creativity?
New questions might arise as you see how the cards respond to these ones. If that happens, go with it – ask as many questions as you’d like. But try not to get too carried away – sometimes a lot of cards can just confuse an issue.

One other thing … after I asked the questions listed above, I pulled one more card. It was a Wisdom Question á la the late, great Rachel Pollack …
What is Creativity?
Using the Tattoo Tarot by Megamunden, I got the 6 of Swords:
Creativity is new ideas arising from the ideas, or thoughts we already have.
Have an inspiring and creative day.

#2 – The High Priestess
This is a good day to give your spirit some serious attention. Take a little time by yourself to think about what it is that you believe. What do you think of the world and your place in it? What ultimately gives your life meaning?
It’s also a good time right now to pay attention to the messages other people have been sending you. Let yourself absorb the world around you without feeling the need to jump in right away and take action. This is a better time to sit and receive than to act.
Observe, listen and think about what it is you’re doing. Through reflection you’ll start to see all sides. Through this wider perspective you’ll find the priorities and direction that can help you on your path.
July 29th, 2024 § Comments Off on Moon in Gemini – High Priestess Dressed as the Lovers’ Angel § permalink
The Moon moves into Gemini today and will stay there until Thursday.
From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Lovers’ Angel. She floats above the naked couple, blessing their sacred union.
The Moon in Gemini, or High Priestess dressed as the Lovers’ angel, can be an emotionally confusing time, one where internal conflicts arise in order to be reconciled.
But it can also be a time of clarity, honest communication and almost intuitive understanding about yourself and those around you.
Quiet faith teams up with commitment and the Angels approve of the whole thing.
Try to keep your emotions in line with your reason. Going too far either way could disturb a really nice balance.

Gather and celebrate! It’s a day to enjoy what you’ve been working on. The project might not yet be finished, but at least you’re on your way. Well done! You have reason to smile.
Follow your passion and create from the heart. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how it will all turn out, just keep at it. The hard work’s been paying off, and you can take a moment to enjoy before heading on to the next step.
But don’t forget, you probably aren’t doing all the work yourself. Share the glory or you’ll be hearing about it later.
July 28th, 2024 § Comments Off on Miss Cleo’s Tarot Power Deck – a review § permalink
Following up on my post about, Call Me Miss Cleo, for today’s pull from Georgie’s Magic Card Collection, we’ll look at Miss Cleo’s Tarot Power Deck. It was published back in 2001 by Radar Communications Inc.
5 Points About This Deck
- Miss Cleo: Despite her name and picture being on the box, Miss Cleo (or Youree Dell Harris) had nothing to do with making this deck. It’s possible, of course, that she used it to read with, but it was designed and created by J.F. Lambert and Seth Stevens. There’s an introduction in the LWB that shows Miss Cleo’s signature at the bottom, but I don’t know …
- The Box: Though a box wouldn’t likely sway me for or against a Tarot deck, there are boxes that are good enough (regular tuck boxes), and then there are ones that I like. The Miss Cleo deck comes in the type that I like – a hardy two piecer that opens by lifting the top off. And for some childish reason, I really like the red tag on the front that says “As Seen On TV’.
- Artwork: The deck artwork follows a kind of ancient Egyptian motif, I guess to go along with the myth that Tarot originated in Egypt. It’s bright and simple, a little cartoony, with very well cut workers, kings, queens, gods, and goddesses. I actually quite like it.
- Arcanas/Readability: The Major Arcana looks to follow the RWS sequencing and style, while the Minor Arcana switches things up a bit. The suits are Staffs, Cups, Swords, and Coins, and though they follow a basic RWS-type model, there are some novel takes on the images. For me at least, I find this deck quite easy to read. The images are clear and straightforward in their storytelling. But, if you’re in doubt, the instruction book that comes with the deck is quite helpful.
- Extra Cards: Unlike most decks, there are two extra cards included with 1-900 and 1-800 numbers on them … I guess that’s in case you can’t figure out what your reading means and want some help? I didn’t try the numbers, and am not recommending that anyone else does.
Despite my feelings surrounding the Psychic Readers Network, and the questionable part Miss Cleo herself played in the whole saga, I actually like the Miss Cleo’s Tarot Power Deck. I got mine on eBay about 15 years ago and notice that there still seems to be a lot of inexpensive used ones around. If you see one, you might want to give it a try.

Queen of Swords
The truth is an important commodity right now. Getting through the fog and cutting out that which no longer works is a priority.
You might be feeling a little hardcore, a little less sympathetic to sob stories and other tales of woe than usual. That’s all right. Sometimes it’s more important to be clear than to be sweet.
Get the job done and do it with the determination, diligence and discernment that you expect from others.
Keep in mind though that the bigger picture includes compassion. You need not be cruel or mean to be truthful and serious.
Not everyone is as tough-skinned as you are right now, so be aware of the potential effect your words might have.
July 27th, 2024 § Comments Off on Moon in Taurus – High Priestess in the Hierophant’s Clothing § permalink
The Moon moved into Taurus and stays there until Monday.
If you look at this transit through the eyes of the Tarot, it would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Hierophant. She’s sitting before two acolytes and sharing the secrets she usually guards.
The Moon in Taurus, or High Priestess in the Hierophant’s clothes, is a time of spiritual and emotional certitude.
There’s a sense that the truth can be explained, understood and incorporated into daily life. Rules can and should be followed.
Instead of trying to force others to recognize what you know to be certain, try using this time to simply share your emotional, intellectual and spiritual perceptions.
Celebrate the diversity of spirit in our world, while figuring out for yourself what rules, spiritual or otherwise, work best for you.
