If you’re a fan of surrealist art and the occult and are in the Boca Raton, Florida area, you might want to check out the new show at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.
Curated by Andy Weislogel and Laurent Ferri, Surrealism and Magic examines the surrealists’ interests in magic, arcane learning, and indigenous spirituality.
It was inspired by the magic-themed library of Kurt Seligmann, and includes works by him (including his paintings of Tarot cards), as well as other artists like André Breton, Matta, Dalí, Marcel Duchamp, Yves Tanquy, Man Ray, Max Ernst, Masson, Dorothea Tanning, Leonora Carrington, Wilfredo Lam, and Magritte.
The show runs until April 5th. If I were there, I’d go see it.
And check out the video below if you’d like to know a little bit more about Kurt Seligmann.
