The Poet Tarot

March 24th, 2014 § 0 comments § permalink

If you love Tarot and poetry, Two Sylvias Press has a Kickstarter project you might be interested in – The Poet Tarot: A Deck of Creativity.

The Poet Tarot and its companion guidebook are meant to inspire writers and artists of all sorts with their own creative process.

It’s a traditional deck in many ways, with a Major and Minor arcana, but the Majors are filled with famous poets like Emily Dickinson, Yeats and Poe, while the Minors are made up of Muses, Quills, Mentors, and Letterpresses.

Take a look at the video below to see the cards, and visit The Poet Tarot project page to learn more.

A Little Circus Magic

November 17th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

Take a look at this retro-themed Circus deck by Doug Thornsjo called Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi.

Though Thornsjo had long intended to create a deck of his own, this one came about almost by accident.

He was writing a fantasy novel called See Them Dance, in which one of the characters is a telepath and fortune teller. It occurred to him that she needed her own deck, and next thing you know, the Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi was born.

At the moment it’s a limited edition (only 300 will be printed) Majors only deck, but Thornsjo is planning on making it a full 78-card deck soon. I want one!

Watch the video below to see some of the cards, and visit the Tarot of Zirkus Mägi project page to learn more.

Darkana Tarot Deck 2.0

September 7th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

Dan Donche, creator of the Inappropriate Tarot Readings phenomenon, is doing it again … Darkana Tarot Deck 2.0 is in the works!

The first edition of this deck (which I love) sold out completely, never to be printed again.

Fortunately for those who didn’t get a copy, a second version is being readied for printing right now.

Donche has updated the deck with some colour elements, and bigger font. The amazing imagery though, remains the same – original, amusing, a little dark, and immensely readable.

To see some of the cards, and to read more about the project, visit the Darkana Tarot Deck 2.0 Kickstarter Project page.

You might want to donate and get a copy for yourself. I did!

The Amanda Palmer Tarot

If you’re a Tarot loving fan of musician Amanda Palmer, I think you might be interested in this Kickstarter campaign – The Amanda Palmer Tarot.

It started with one fan posting an Amanda inspired card to a fan forum. Next thing you know, other cards started appearing and a new deck was born.

M.C. Matz has put it all together, and the deck is now ready to print.

You can see some of the cards in the video below. And to learn more about the project, visit The Amanda Palmer Tarot project page.

Though they’ve already raised more than twice the funds they were looking for, copies of the deck are still available for those who donate.

Tamaraw Tarot

Here’s another Kickstarter Tarot project … the Tamaraw Tarot by Juan Vincent.

You can see the cards themselves in the video below. They’re clear and simple and all backed in black.

Vincent says the colouring is meant especially for candle lit readings. It allows the images and their messages to pop to the fore, while the backgrounds fade nicely into the dark.

If you’d like to learn more, or to get a copy of the deck for yourself, visit the Tamaraw Tarot project page.

The Retro Tarot

November 15th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s a sweet Tarot deck in the works … it’s the Retro Tarot by the mother daughter team of Tricia Sawyer and Rebekah Davis.

Though conceptually inspired by the RWS, the Retro Tarot looks quite different. It features black and white photographs from the period between 1910 and 1960.

The images are really nice, and as Sawyer and Davis promise, they seem to be ‘straight-talking and to the point.’

The duo is still finishing up work on the project and are hoping to get the cards to the printers by December.

If you’re interested in supporting the project and signing up for your own copy of the deck, visit the Retro Tarot Kickstarter page to learn more.
