7 of Wands

You don’t know what’s coming next or from which direction it’s coming. Valour is important today. Stay true to yourself, firm in your stance and be prepared for anything and everything.

There will be a lot on the go and you’ll probably feel tested. But if you keep your chin up, your back strong and take things one step at a time, the results will be well worthwhile.

Stay strong – you’ve got it in you. And whether or not you recognize it, you’re in a position of strength.

#10 Wheel of Fortune - Rider Waite Smith Tarot

Wheel of Fortune

As I mentioned yesterday, I just celebrated a birthday. That means I’ve moved into a new Tarot Growth year.

I’ve spent the last 12 months living with the energy of the Hermit. Now I’m ready to spin with the Wheel of Fortune.

From a period of solitude and inner learning, it’s now time for expansion, change, and hopefully, good luck.

For some advice on how to best use this energy, I’ve made a four-card Spin the Wheel Spread. It’s short but to the point.

Whether you’re moving into the Wheel of Fortune year or not, maybe you’d like to try this spread too.

Spin the Wheel Spread

•How can I expand on what I learnt from the Hermit?

•What could use some changing in my life?

•What action or attitude will best open me to new opportunity?

•What area of my life might be especially lucky?

The Wheel is spinning. It should be an interesting year.

The King of Swords

Clear rational thinking is at the fore today.  Is there something you need to take control of?  Have you been wavering and wishy-washy lately?  Stop procrastinating.

Focus, take charge and get it done.   Have the courage to be clear and rational.  Cut through the fog and let logic rule the day.

You know who you are, you know what you want and you’re sure you deserve it.   Go to it.  But beware of dictating what’s best for those around you.

You might know how to take care of yourself, but let others take care of their own lives, their own way.

It’s my birthday! And I’ve decided to take the day off. But fear not, my cat Carl’s filling in.

While I’m away, he’ll be happy to take care of all your Tarot needs.

It’s a day to dissolve the fog and start looking at things with fresh and honest eyes.  With a commitment to clarity, new ideas and a new sense of authority will be close on the horizon.

Take things in hand and energetically start slicing through any fuzziness you’ve not wanted to look past till now.  Are you happy with what you’re seeing?  If yes – go forward with strength.  If not, figure out what you actually want, re-direct yourself towards it and go forward with strength.

In either case, you need to see things for what they really are before you can intelligently decide what your next step might be.   This is no time to fool yourself.   It’s a time to take charge, be realistic and be strong.

Europe and its Spirits, or the Fascination of the Occult, 1750-1950

July 25th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

This show won’t be up until October, but that just gives us some time to get to Strasbourg, France.

Europe and its Spirits, or the Fascination of the Occult, 1750-1950 is a multidisciplinary exhibition exploring the influence of the occult on artists, thinkers and scientists across Europe from the mid-18th Century through the middle of the 20th.

Curated by Serge Fauchereau and Joëlle Pijaudier-Cabot, the show is organized into three sections. The first focuses on artistic creation, like painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography and literature.

The second takes a wide historical perspective of the topic through founding texts and printed illustrations.

The final section looks at the relationship between science and occult phenomena through the stories of the scholars themselves and the scientific instruments they used.

It’s a a big show, with over 500 works, 150 scientific articles, 150 books and a 100 documents from 25 European countries.

It’s at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, France from October 8 through February 12, 2012. From there it moves on to the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, from March 31 through July 15, 2012.

Moon in Gemini – High Priestess Dressed as the Lovers' Angel

high priestess as the lovers' angel

High Priestess dressed as Lovers' Angel

The Moon moves into Gemini today and will stay there until Friday.

From a Tarot perspective, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Lovers’ Angel. She floats above the naked couple, blessing their sacred union.

The Moon in Gemini, or High Priestess dressed as the Lovers’ angel, can be an emotionally confusing time, one where internal conflicts arise in order to be reconciled.

But it can also be a time of clarity, honest communication and almost intuitive understanding about yourself and those around you.

Quiet faith teams up with commitment and the Angels approve of the whole thing.

Try to keep your emotions in line with your reason. Going too far either way could disturb a really nice balance.

It’s time to get down to the details.  A new project is in the works and you’ve got the task of making it happen – or at least starting the process off.

Keep the reason you’re doing it in mind – that’s the fire that drives the whole enterprise.

If the less than exciting details are getting you down, remember that it’s the details that build the foundation to any project.

Don’t be afraid to sludge and trudge on through.  It’ll be worth it in the end.

The Tarot inspires a lot of visual art, but it also inspires a lot of music.

Take a listen to these improvised interpretations of the Magician and High Priestess.

They were posted by marisstella100 on his YouTube page, and it looks like he might be working on the entire major arcana.

The Empress and Emperor were up when I last looked. I hope there’ll be more.

9 of Cups

What a wonderful day.  You feel open and loving and willing to let the world know – at least if they ask.  You might not feel like running out and embracing everyone you see, but there’s a sense of contentment and well-being that’s impossible to ignore.

This is an excellent time to enjoy and share.  Be generous with your feelings. There’s really nothing to fear in letting people know you care.

Give as you can and laugh out loud as much as possible, even when you’re alone. It may have been some time since you’ve felt this good.  Enjoy. You deserve it.
