High Priestess as the Devil

The Moon moves into Capricorn today and will stay there until Monday.

If you were to describe this transit using the Tarot, you might say that the High Priestess is wearing the Devil’s clothing. The virginal goddess has gotten downright beastly.

The Moon in Capricorn, or High Priestess in the Devil’s clothing, is a period of potential internal conflict. The physical world might seem to draw you away from what you typically believe to be right.

You might feel driven or compelled by behaviours and attitudes that go against the grain of your morality. It could be liberating or disturbing, depending on your secrets.

Whatever’s going on though, don’t be too hard on yourself. Get obsessions out of your system, and learn what you can about yourself while you do so.

You should be ready to move on soon. There’s nothing wrong with a little focused physicality. Just don’t get stuck.

What a wonderful day.  You feel open and loving and willing to let the world know – at least if they ask.  You might not feel like running out and embracing everyone you see, but there’s a sense of contentment and well-being that’s impossible to ignore.

This is an excellent time to enjoy and share.  Be generous with your feelings. There’s really nothing to fear in letting people know you care.

Give as you can and laugh out loud as much as possible, even when you’re alone. It may have been some time since you’ve felt this good.  Enjoy. You deserve it.

While thinking about the upcoming US Presidential election, I decided to pull a single card asking, ‘what’s a positive trait to look for in someone running for President?’

It’s like the cards were mocking me, I pulled the 6 of Wands, key word – Victory.

An important trait to look for in someone running for President is that they are victorious. Ha – well, of course!

But all joking aside, the card has a little more to say than that. It shows not only the victor carrying his wreath of glory, but other people also walking alongside him, wands raised in support.

All the sixes are connected with the grand six in the deck, the Lovers, which speaks of relationships, commitments, and the connections between disparate elements.

This 6 of Wands identifies that energy played out on a spirit level.

This card suggests that a positive Presidential trait is an ability to raise the passion of the people in unity and connectedness.

As well, it points to the importance of those very people as they walk beside their champion. He got to his place on the horse with the help of them all.

In fact, no one get to this 6 of Wands position alone and a good leader knows that.

Looking at things from a new perspective should be easy today – and a good idea. Let inspiration strike, then focus on your goal in order to start bringing about its manifestation. Clear communication and precise thinking will serve you well.

Try to be discerning – which direction will get you closest to your ultimate destination with the least complication? Let outmoded ways of seeing the world fall away. It’s only then that you’ll have room for the new view.

Be positive and proactive – you’re in charge and you can make what you want happen. Start now.

One of my many Tarot-projects-in-progress is the Tabloid Tarot, a celebrity themed deck I started working on at the beginning of the year.

I haven’t managed to get much time to focus on it lately but I think it’s calling me again. I’ve got a growing pile of old magazines, and it’s about time I get to them.

In the meantime though, I thought I’d share two cards I’ve already got started.

They’re the High Priestess and the Empress, two of Tarot’s female heavyweights. Numerically, they follow one another in the deck and I often see them as different sides of the same woman.

In the Tabloid Tarot, that duality is made clear by using images of the beautiful Amber Rose in two different personas – the Ice Blue Fluffed Marshmallow Priestess and the Warm Golden Whipped Cream Empress.

High Priestess as Temperance

The Moon moves into Sagittarius today and will be there until Saturday.

Looking at it through the eyes of the Tarot, you can describe this transit as being like the High Priestess wearing Temperance’s clothing. She’s dressed like an angel.

The Moon in Sagittarius, or High Priestess in Temperance’s clothing, indicates a time when intellect, practicality, emotions and passion can work together in relative ease.

What’s normally only an idea might find its way to becoming real. Even-tempered inspiration and emotional playfulness can create what look like miracles.

Take this time to bring your emotions in line with your passions. And play with your most serious ideas. It’s in combining the unexpected that you’ll likely find gold.

You’ve made it!  Enjoy!  What a good day!  After the long journey you’ve finally managed to get to the other side of the night.

There’s no need to be shy – express yourself and let everyone see you smile.

You have confidence now and boundaries no longer pen you in.  Creativity carries you forward as if in a dream.

Focus your imagination and you can manifest what you will.  Be open, free and alive.

Last week, we heard news of a new species of monkey discovered by scientists in the remote forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The scientific name they’ve been given is Cercopithecus Lomamiensis, but the monkeys are known locally as the Lesula.

While looking at this wise-eyed little creature, I wondered if now that she had the world’s attention, she had a message for us all.

Since I don’t know her personally, I of course turned to the cards to get her reply. I asked, “What message does the Lesula have for the world right now?”

Though I tried to pull just one card, two came out in the draw. They were the 2 of Pentacles and the Ace of Cups.

I get the sense that she’s a monkey of few words and as such, her message is short, but very sweet.

Simply put, the Lesula says: keep busy and love with an open flowing heart.

Or at least, that’s how I’m reading it.

If you translate this transit into the Tarot, you could say that the High Priestess is dressed as Death. She’s in the midst of a great transformation.

The Moon in Scorpio, or High Priestess in Death’s clothing, suggests a time when feelings run deep. The ability to end relationships that don’t work, or release stagnant emotions is accentuated.

If there’s a situation in your life that’s nearing its completion, especially if it’s emotional or relationship-oriented, this might be a good time to let it go. At least explore it with emotional clarity.

This isn’t a time to be afraid, but rather a time to face your fears with equanimity and intelligence.

You’ve got what it takes. Don’t back down from the scary stuff.

#21 – The Universe

Dance and rejoice!  You deserve to celebrate after a long journey.  A phase in your life is coming to a close – it’s big but not scary.

This is a good day to reflect on what’s been happening in your life over the last long while.  Where were your successes and what would you rather leave behind?  How did all the little stories turn into a whole big narrative?

Review, laugh and maybe even cry, but don’t carry old burdens with you going forward.  Be free and open and willing to be vulnerable.  You’ve done what you can.  It’s time now to simply enjoy your own little slice of the universe.  You’ll have plenty of time to plan your next step tomorrow.
