It’s been a while since I’ve done any sort of deck review from Georgie’s Magic Card Collection, but I was gifted a new deck recently and wanted to share it.
It’s the Tarot Original 1909 – Circular Edition from Sasha Graham.
By updating the imagery from the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, Graham has rounded things out (ha ha!), giving more room for interpretation as the the cards are no longer just upright or reversed. Now they can spin in any direction.
Reading in the round takes a little getting used to, but there are some helpful interpretation hints in the accompanying guide book.
And though the circular cards are a little awkward to shuffle, the slightly expanded surface and new shape really make the images pop.
If you’re already familiar with the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, it’ll likely feel like a happy new perspective on a dear old friend. Or at least, that’s what it’s like for me.
And oh … I just love the box!

If you’re an American Idol fan, as well as a Tarot fan, Idol Psychics might be just what you’ve been looking for.
