It looks like a new biopic about Miss Cleo is about to be released, but I just finally watched the last one, Call Me Miss Cleo the other day. It was released by HBO Max back in 2022, but took me a few years to get to.
I had forgotten most of the story surrounding the very shady, at times criminal (or at least civilly actionable) Psychic Readers Network (PRN), but I never forgot Miss Cleo herself … or should I say the character Youree Dell Harris played called Miss Cleo.
And I remember the ads, and how confident Miss Cleo sounded as she (apparently) read for callers in her thick (apparently) Jamaican accent … not that I ever fully believed her. I had started reading cards myself a few years earlier and it felt as if she was doing something completely different than I was.
There was no personal development aspect, no reflections on archetypes, or concepts of spiritual growth, and certainly no nuanced perspectives on any situations being explored … Miss Cleo said it straight (apparently). She was sure who was messing with who, who was cheating, who was good, who thought what and when they thought it, and most importantly, she knew exactly how everything was (apparently) going to turn out.
As it actually turned out, Miss Cleo was just acting (at least in the ads), and PRN had a contract which gave them rights to her image and name (or the Miss Cleo name anyway). For all her notoriety, she didn’t make anything extra from them.
You can watch the film to see what happened to PRN and Youree Dell Harris. Long-story-short though (and a spoiler if you didn’t already know) … Miss Cleo moved on to be a private tarot/psychic reader, and a wedding officiant, she did some other acting work, had a podcast, and became a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights. And it looks like she maintained her Miss Cleo persona until her passing in 2016.
Miss Cleo is definitely a complicated character. On some levels, it seems clear she was a fraud, though I have little doubt that she was a good card reader. But I was also moved by her story, and found her both charismatic and sympathetic, I didn’t actually cry, but I was definitely tearing up towards the end of the film.
All in all, I recommend Call Me Miss Cleo. If you’re interested in this topic, and haven’t had a chance to see it already, take a look.

Described in Tarot cards, this transit would be like the High Priestess is dressed as the Moon. She’s lost her material body and has disappeared into the celestial body that usually rests at her feet.
The Moon in Pisces, or High Priestess dressed as the Moon, is a time of increased perception, ill-defined understanding and what might be described as night vision.
During this time you could find your dreams feel more real than your daylight hours and what’s not said is louder than what is.
Fears might grow like a boogieman under the bed, but if you just take a peek, they’re as likely to be dust bunnies as demons or ghosts.
Be still, aware and fearless. It might be dark outside, but if there was ever a time you can navigate the unknown, this is it. Listen, breathe, flow.

Get down to work. Nothing exciting going on, except maybe the chance to get more done than you thought you would.
Follow the template and don’t worry about being particularly innovative today. It’s probably more important to just get it done.
To motivate yourself try remembering that what you’re working on now is setting you up for your future. Put in the effort and it’ll ultimately pay off.

If we look at this transit through the eyes of the Tarot, it’s like the Sun Child is dressed in Strength’s clothing.
He’s traded in his horse for a lion, and has thrown on a light gown.
The Sun in Leo, or the Sun dressed in Strength’s clothing is a time to shine. Even if you want to hide, there won’t be many dark corners to crawl into.
Creative energies are high, as is the confidence to share what you create.
Don’t be shy. As long as you keep your ego in check, it will be hard to go wrong.
Let openness and enthusiasm rule whatever it is you’re engaged in. There’s a lot of power in play, so enjoy.

You’ll probably be feeling quite loving today. Emotions are open and flowing and you’re getting along with everyone.
People will likely find you even more attractive than usual, and you them. But don’t confuse that with getting serious.
Emotions may have been high lately, or at least all over the place. You might find yourself thinking a lot about what in life (and love) truly makes you happy.
It’s a good time to think about it. But don’t worry, there’s no need to make any firm commitments right now. Just look around you and experience what life has to offer.
You’re in the process of building a new emotional maturity. Enjoy and play friendly.

The Moon in Aquarius, or High Priestess in the Star’s clothing, can sometimes be emotionally stressful. Hope may be in the air, but it’s a cautious hope.
Emotionally you feel like sharing, bubbling over with dreams for the future. But your mind keeps getting in the way, reminding you that dreams can sometimes be nightmares.
Try not to spend what could be a nice time double guessing yourself or listing off all the reasons things could go wrong. They might. But they probably won’t.
Be real, but not a wet blanket. Rather than smothering your dreams, direct them with intelligence.

Sunday, July 21, 2024 #8 – Justice
Today’s themes are balance and justice. It might be time to stand up or into your own authority by being strong, sure and most importantly, just. This isn’t the time to play around and think you’ll get away with not doing your share. On the other hand, if you do the work required, the Justice energy is happy to reward you.
Have you been playing fair? It’s not so much about the mundane rules as it is about the bigger universal justice. And it’s not necessarily about ‘work’ per se, but rather the energies that you’ve been putting out there. Are you speaking up for what you believe in? Are you taking responsibility for your own life? Do you help others as you might expect them to help you?
What you send out is what you’re likely to get back. This is karma in action and it’s generally quite profound. On days when the Justice card appears, the karmic force is typically more obvious than usual. Look around and see if you can find it.
Take time to rebalance yourself, and if possible, find some time to get out into nature. It usually puts things into perspective pretty fast. Think carefully about your next move. It’s what you’ve already done that has brought you to where you are now. What you do next will determine what you’ll be reaping in your future. Try to make it something good for everyone.

Mars has moved into Gemini and will be there until September 4, 2024.
Looking at this transit from a Tarot perspective, it’s like the Tower’s struck the Lovers’ Angel. The heavens are shaking. Are the Lovers about to go for a tumble?
Mars in Gemini, or the Tower striking the Lovers’ Angel, can be a time of disruption in relationships, and mental attitudes. Commitments you thought were sturdy, might suddenly not seem so solid.
But paradise lost could actually mean freedom from choices that no longer satisfy.
New information and circumstances can ultimately lead to expansion of the mind and a deepening of commitment. A new solidity can be established, but the foundation is likely to shift.
Look at this period as a challenge to be as open-minded as you can. Ideas will likely be flying fast and furious. Options you hadn’t considered might soon seem quite reasonable.
Go with the flow. Liberation and illumination are possible. Not despite the chaos, but because of it.
